this is so important, it’s so so tough trying to self fund uni, may Allah make it easy for us and make the government actually go through with this and help us all out Ameen
This concise video is so helpful. My child hopes to study medicine. That 5 or 6 years depending on course chosen. So that circa £46k to £55k we as parents have to find before accommodation and living costs. For most parents and students this is impossible. I have heard of families relocating to Scotland whilst their kids are in school to avoid this. I wonder if the current trend of students studying abroad in countries like Bulgaria etc amongst other reasons is a reflection of students /families avoiding the interest loan and ultimately thinking if we're having to pay for it then we need the cheapest option. ALLAH reward and bless all the IFG team your work is invaluable. The loan issue is massive. As a parent I'm not prepared to go down the interest based loan route. This problem if not challenged, is setting our communities back with a potential brain drain to other countries or worse still our kids going without further education.
Thanks for pushing for this. Can you please start a petition on UK gov that we can all sign to put pressure on gov? And thanks for the template- amazing!!
If you google 'Takaful petition' you should be able to find it. Please share around as it hasn't got many signatures and the deadline is 12th August 2021
on a serious note. Inshallah if i can get to uni, as i am on a conditional offer from kent university (to study finance and investment) and The London institute of Banking & finance (to study finance, investment & risk- if i do get both offer i will be choosing to go to the latter UNI) as an undergraduate. And unfortunately i am in need of student financing ( i havent even looked into accommodation because of being on a conditional offer). so could someone please offer me some help/guidance or insight as to what i can do to finance myself going into these Universities/field of study?
Asalamualaikum, @6:55 you mentioned a article IFG released. The link for this article isn't working and I was hoping to use it to find my education. Can you please repost the article?
I am a revert Muslim and I used to think that student loan was halal because it was so common amongst Muslims. I really want to avoid student loan. I hope that I can get a degree apprenticeship in the future Inshallah
Great video, but I point that was missed which is probably better than goung to university for most course except medicine offcourse is a Degree Apprenticeship. They pay you get a degree and hands on skills.
Definitely, but also we need to understand that degree apprenticeships are very competitive so it is not an option for everyone. That’s why we need to keep doing our part so that we can finally fund our degrees in a halal manner.
Stress free students' loan means interest free loan similarly to the rescission era when people called and shouted for interest free loans and mortgages.. it should be fir all students Muslims and non Muslims. It gives all optimistic future thinking with organised repay plan.
the copy paste trick doesn’t work, the MP website says that they block letters that are plagiarised in essence. you’d have to write something original for it to be seen
Dear (MP) (Intro of yourself) I am writing this letter in regards to the push for Halal student loans in the UK. Millions of Muslims face battles regarding this issue both at home, and with themselves as they find themselves with excellent grades beyond GCSE and A-levels, however have no solution to combat the interest-bearing loan which is offered here in UK. This is because the loan offered goes against the teachings of Islam, due to the accumulating interest that is added. In order to allow young Muslim students to continuously push themselves, obtain a higher level of education which is beneficial for both the economy and society as a whole, I request that you please put into place measures which will facilitate the government to act on providing compliant loans for Muslim students. Yours sincerely
Please address the need for Islamic student finance lots of kids are avoiding uni because I of the fees, why can’t we get big multinational companies for sponser kids who have exceptional grades to study then contracted to work for the companies for 3-5 years
Can anyone explain to me how the proposed 'Alternative student finance' is halal in anyway? because I don't understand how it is any different to the current loan system!? They clearly said that, when ASF gonna be implemented, those students will be paying the same amount as students who are on the traditional loan from the SLC. Isn't it 'Riba' when you pay back more than the amount you borrowed?? It is clearly through the ASF you will be paying more than what you have borrowed therefore it exactly fits the definition of 'Riba' . The government is just making fun of people I think. They are just changing the names but the reasons why such loan are haram in Islam still there. May Allah help me and you all in this situation because it is one of the most difficult tests young Muslim people going through in the UK
Let the muslims pay for their education and let them work extra hours to pay for it or better let them not go to uni at all and stay uneducated because they cannot afford uni in the UK. not a good logic
I think this is just alternative advice until something is sorted out on the government’s end regarding shariah compliant funding. The main goal is still to get this shariah compliant funding established as soon as possible.
I want to study children’s nursing and I have done much work for this degree. But I am not sure now if I will be able to get ahead with it because of financial hardships and can’t get student loan because of it being haram in Islam. I am really upset right now because all of that hard work for my Alevels and application might go to waste??? Why can’t government give us an alternative 😭😭
@@abelievereverrising283 I have asked a Career advisor at my sixthform, if she can find a degree apprenticeship for me in nursing. If I get a degree apprenticeship, that would be awesome and i don’t then I might have to think of a different career such as nursery.
@@abelievereverrising283 could you provide some evidence please? I think you may be referring to a plan that they drew up but they still have not implemented it.
