Perfect advice. Even though I am only seeking post bacc positions right now, I stumbled upon this video… and everything applies to how I secured my most successful academic connections. How cool!
SUMMARY: 1. Know the job market. 2. Get really good at what you do. 3. Networking. 4. When you're applying .. Many thanks Dr. Hayton for the useful tips!!!
I just graduated with a BS in biological anthropology from San Francisco State. I would love to get in connection with labs so I can work as a research assistant while I wait forthe upcoming PhD application cycle.
This is so useful and interesting. I am wishing to do achieve it in the future, however the expectations and offers are so low that scares me spending a whole life trying to find something and not achieving it by its low probabilities. The video really motivated me :) thanks!
Well it wouldn't be a whole life. It's OK to try for something you really want to do. If it doesn't work out, you have a whole life to do something else.
@@James_Hayton Hello, thank you for responding: What I am looking forward is for: 1. What must the proposal be like at the post-doc level? 2. How to choose the supervisor at the post-doc level or does it have to be about the university? 3. Scope for fellowships, it's prerequisites and on how to get them. 4. Scope after post-doc in today's academic world. And such other important information.
