Allyce, thank you so much for your time the other day! Your consultation service was exactly what I needed to get more personalized recommendations for my ventures to Korea. As someone who is an avid over-thinker, your advice is always very specific, concise and realistic. I can't wait to share with you the progress I made in my journey as it relates to my career. I look forward to more of your content and 1:1 guidance as I embark on this new transition.
I just had a consultation with Allyce this morning and it was really great. I am an expat here with a working visa and have been working for a few years so what I wanted to know was a little different; I wanted to understand the format for Korean CV and cover letter, what is really expected from each section, which job hunting websites I missed out on, and some info on evening intensive Korean language courses and SHE DELIVERED! She gave me more information than I expected in great detail and was very honest and to the point. It was worth every penny and honestly I would love to book another session next time to just brainstorm and exchange information with her. Super helpful and if you’re thinking about signing up for the session, you DEFINITELY should! 😎
Thanks again for booking! You are one of my star clients. I was surprised by how much preparation you had already done, but glad I could dig deep and give you even more insights! Best of luck with your job search!
Thank you so much for setting up a consultation with me! I didn't know what to expect as it was just a general consultation but you prepared so much useful information and I can't thank you enough! It will definitely help me jump start my transition out of my current teaching visa. I'm a huge fan of your channel and content and I look forward to connecting with you again~
Hi there, jxnicem! (using your username for privacy) It was really great to chat with you regarding your goals and options here in Korea. I think you definitely have opportunities here outside of teaching and I'm looking forward to your success story! If you ever need me again, feel free to reach out.
thank you so much for the actual links to hiring sites. No one ever talks about these things; it’s ridiculous lol like why keep secrets on how you got to work in Korea?
No problem at all! To be honest, I noticed the exact same thing and that's why I decided to restart my channel. I'm tired of the gatekeeping and I remember what it was like when I was younger and trying to figure it all out while watching all the fluff "how to's" from other youtubers and influencers. I think there is a strong sense over here of "if I help other foreigners, there's less for me." But, at the same time, people want to be internet famous just for living in Korea, so they tell you "just enough" you know? I'm trying really hard to do something different and actually share useful information.
Thank you so much for subscribing! The whole mission of this channel is to share knowledge so that others can come here informed and ready to succeed. I hope you stay tuned for more. Coming soon!
how did you find your internship? i don't want to pay a company thousands to find me one, Im looking for a tourism/hospitality/travel company do you have any tips? i only want to work in an international company since I don't speak Korean
Yes, if you’re having to pay to be matched with a company or school, it is most likely a predatory service trying to take advantage of your not knowing how things work here. A lot of times the companies aren’t real or have made a deal with the service to split your money. I ultimately found my internships in a Facebook group. Some find them on Craigslist too. Based on what you said there should be some options, assuming you have a visa. If you’d like me to look into this for you and go over your options, you can book me for a consultation (booking link in description). I charge a small fee, but should be able to answer all your questions and point you in the right direction.
Hiii! first of all thank you so much for this info! is indeed very helpful I am currently filling my cv :D However I have some question about the part of current salary (is it written by month, year income?) and regarding the job tittle (is it my current o the one am I applying to?) Again thank you some much! I am now a subscriber :D
Hi~ Are you saying you're planning to write your previous salaries on your CV? In Korea, this is not something you write on your CV/Resume. If you are asking about the salary shown on the job listing, it depends. Usually, it is shown as a monthly salary, but sometimes it's yearly. But, you will know because a monthly salary is usually in the millions (of won) and a yearly salary would be in the ten millions. I recommend you watch my other video on getting a full-time job. I shared some info on the resume and I shared a link with templates to use. I will make a video soon specifically about writing the resume.
I don't know if you have mentioned it, but am I going to take a language proficiency test to qualify for an internship? And am I qualified to be an intern though I am a fresh graduate?
If it’s an internship that expected foreigners to apply then they’ll probably put a proficiency requirement in the job listing, like TOPIK. But, some companies might be ok without a proficiency test certificate. They will just check during the interview if you are proficient enough for the job they need you to do. This is usually not a test though, just by speaking in Korean. Yes, fresh graduates are the target for most companies looking for interns these days. ☺️
heyyy, i loved your video and immediately checked out the links you provided nut how exactly does hirediversity work? I've clicked in the link but apparently ypu need to login and a member cide? Do you know what they mean? Could really need some help :(
It looks like they have changed the format of their website/service and require you to be a member in order to see the job portal. In order to become a member, you need to visit the office first with your ID(s) and then they will give you a membership invitation email with a code in it.
Ohh alright I see, unfortunately I can’t visit their office as I’m not located in Korea, however thank you so so much for your help, appreciate it a lot!!
Hi~ I'm not sure if I mentioned it in this video, so definitely watch my video about getting a part time job or full time job as well. But, basically, the exact field or industry isn't important. It's always going to be a matter of whether you speak Korean fluently enough for the role, whether you have the right visa, and whether you know how to do the job well (or have potential since you're asking about internships). I'm not familiar with every industry or field, so I really can't say if it has internships and if they are looking for foreigners. But, if you are a strong candidate, there is always a chance.
