Something a little different with this video. A how-to on getting a large space into a small space as seen in Doctor Who. Here I show how the inside of the TARDIS console room can fit into the outside police box with the explanation Tom Baker used in classic Who.
Blender 2.80 was used to make this in Eevee. #shorts

That's just about exactly how the Doctor explains it to Leela: "If you could have that box exactly that far away, AND have it here, the large box would fit inside the smaller one." "That's silly." "That's transdimensional engineering, a key Time Lord discovery."

@@Rocksteady72ait's actually very simple. How many directions do you count? Up, left, forward. That's 3 axis. Suppose a fourth one, invisible to us 3D beings. We only ever see a slice of it, but we can predict what it would be like with geometry and math. If you've ever watched marvel films that's what the word tesseract means; a 4D hypercube.

@@ssalovaa It reminds me of the Three Body Problem. But in that book, it more of intersects our plan, much in the way us intersecting a 2d plane would look in that dimension. If that's how it was explained - that the TARDIS door is literally just the intersection between our 3-axis and the 4th, that'd be a lot easier to understand. But the whole concept of the distance being far and close but small is kind of hard to wrap my mind around, and both me & my channel is all about sci-fi lol.

Imagine the doors of not Kevin is a portal to Kevin that’s in a small separate dimension
@Croftice1
@Croftice1 3 года назад
@Yuki Dreemurr Basically yes, but actually, it's more than "separate dimensions with just the door being portal", if it were, how would you explain Space Titanic, or that TARDIS sometimes takes people and objects inside (or outside, poor Sally & Larry in the end of Blink)? It doesn't work like just a simple portal. The TARDIS shakes everytime something happens to the box, so "the inside" is still affected by "the outside". I would say it is the door, but also the walls that touch each other (both dimensions), so whatever happens wherever these walls touch, whatever force is applied, it affects both the outside like the inside. Imagine a gummy balloon put into a box, blow that balloon so it touches most areas of the box'es inner sides and that's basically it. Now imagine that the balloon is actually way way way bigger, than the box, but for reasons it still fits and now we're home. That's how the TARDIS works. They are not completely separate dimensions, they coexist in more places than just the door.

@@Croftice1 I always took it that the entire phone booth itself was the portal, therein moving it moved the pocket dimension within. As in, if the pocket dimension’s entrance (in the form of the Phone Booth’s doors generally) is mapped perfectly, then moving the ‘exterior’ vessel would also move the interior as they are attached (think spinning the small tip of a screwdriver still moved the handle). This explains why exterior motion effects the inside. As for items being transported into their relative positions inside the TARDIS, I take that to be some form of Transmat technology. The time lords have time travel so it’s not that much of a stretch to say that during the TARDIS materialisation you are redistributed inside the phone booth before being transmatted locally. The TARDIS is shown to be sentient after all. Just gonna conclude this with the fact that i’m NOT A PHYSICIST. I’m not here to act as empirical truth, i’m just a doctor who viewer who has way too much time on his hands.

The human explanation (and also the correct one) is that the inside of the TARDIS is a portable pocket universe, the entrance being the doors, that's how the Master's TARDIS can be a grandfather clock ~40 years ago and a police box now, the entrance changes size.
@Doodle128

That also fits into the 4th Doctor's explanation, you push the inside far away (the pocket universe) and you put the box around it (around the pocket universe, of course).

I also have my own head cannon. So when the Tardis is put inside a human's body, she asks if all people are like this, so much bigger on the inside. And if you think about it we are. We have monuments and people and conversations and emotions existing all though our memories and imaginations. Out minds have the potential to be as big as a universe and are also forever expanding. What if time lords just turned that into a physical thing. The past is as easy to get to as it is to remember an event in your mind, but you are not in the past, you brought the past to you my remembering it. Same principle but with a box

@halenner6638

It is enough that at the entrance to the tardis there is a shift along the w axis. Thus in the w=0 space layer we have a small police box and the rest of the familiar world, and at the w=1 layer we have the interior of a tardis of any size. This can be thought of as a three dimensional ramp for a two dimensional world or something like that... (Google translate)
@WackoMcGoose
@WackoMcGoose 10 месяцев назад
Well, both yes and no. In "the episode with the tiny police box", Twelve actually mentions that if the Tardis were to land with its true weight, Earth would crack like an egg. So it could be a w-axis displacement to get into it, but you'd also need enough negatively-massed exotic matter (let's say, at least negative "the moon itself" kilograms) to offset the weight.
@jan_Sanku
@jan_Sanku 8 месяцев назад
@@WackoMcGoose we already see many different kinds of 0g/hover/interial dampening technologies throughout the whoniverse, so i think it's not too far fetched that the tardis interior is either constantly hovering and/or has some other form of dampening that detaches its weight from the exterior. we see the exterior fly/hover on several occasions too
@jan_Sanku
@jan_Sanku 8 месяцев назад
unrelated to my reply above, i think this comment is by far the most reasonable explanation. a "w-ramp" at the entrance would be relatively "simple", and as far as we know it might even be realistic

Fun fact, the Tardis was supposed to change its form whenever it re-materialises so that it can blend perfectly with the surrounding area. However, its Chameleon circuit had malfunctioned when the Doctor visited London in the 1950s, and therefore it has remained in its current state ever since. Also, it can also be explained that the Police Box is actually a Non-Euclidian Dimension Container that houses the actual guts of the Tardis itself. Edit: I realised that I should have said “Non-Euclidian” and not “Euclidian” when referring to abnormal geometric physics.

Like others have said, the TARDIS interior is in a pocket universe. And when you step through the door it's like steping through a wormhole. Unlike in Stargate you can actually look through the wormhole from outside the TARDIS into the interior. Ever notice how when anyone steps into the TARDIS the entrance looks like the interior of a police box box? That's where the wormhole is, behind the insides of the box they walk through.
@beesinpyjamas9617

if that's how it works, how come the exterior police box being moved affects the motion of the interior, or how can the TARDIS dematerialise without you while you're inside (like in Blink) I much more like the idea that Time Lords just figured out a way to put a larger (maybe even infinite) space inside a small space, using some science we don't/can't understand (as is the 4th doctor's explanation, which is probably what this video was based on), for some reason I just like it better to imagine that the tardis doors aren't some magic doorway wormhole type thing, they're literally just regular doors

Here is what we need to complete the third step. We need a tesseract (and no I don’t mean the one from Marvel) the tesseract would be used to create a pocket dimension where then the interior (that has been placed far away) can then be placed into the smaller box exterior with out destroying it. Ps. I don’t know if that is how a tesseract works.
@Leggo_Waffle
@Leggo_Waffle 4 месяца назад
Of course, you could always have a separate interior that is placed somewhere safe and separate. The exterior is remotely piloted from the interior. The interior is not inside the exterior. They are only connected through a form of teleportation. Open the doors and step inside and boom, you get teleported to the interior which is located someplace else entirely. The exterior can then be moved elsewhere and once you step out it’s like the interior has moved as well. Only, it’s just the exterior. Making sense?

Actually it’s not a hard concept to understand. Take any spherical object, a piece of white printer paper, and a flashlight (or torch for non Americans). Hold the sphere a few inches/centimeters above the piece of paper. Shine the flashlight/torch directly down onto the sphere and piece of paper, you should see a circular shadow. That is a two dimensional “shadow” of a 3-D object. This idea (at least in my head) applies to the TARDIS. The TARDIS, or the part we see as the blue box, is a 3-D “shadow” of a 4 dimensional object.

Now three dimensional space is stretched around black holes. Supposed the Time Lords use eye of harmonies to take three dimensional spaces and projected in a three dimensional object through the eye of the eye of harmony. In other words something like magic.

I believe that you wouldn’t quite put the tardis interior inside the box, I think you would start off with the circuit to make the transdimensional engineering, and give it some kind of anchoring device so that if you move the device that creates the transdimensional engineering it dosent move the entrance, but if you move the anchor it does, then put the device that makes the other dimension inside of it, next you disable the anchor, we don’t need it anymore, now you can build your larger space in the seperate dimension located in the small box, except you don’t start with a box, just a tear between dimensions and make the box around that, or make the box inside of it, the rift could be 3 dimensional, then all you have to do to move in space is put the device that made the alternate dimension in the equivalent spot in the dimension it made, that should move the rift relative to it, although that could just move the entrance and not the exit resulting in you being stuck in there until you move the device back where it was, this is where I’m getting confused, I’ll leave the rest of this idea for someone else to complete.

that is how it is atually done I read it in the tardis manual despite if you were to go 1 meter to the side of the door on the interior and break a hole in the wall where does it go?
@OfficialArtCoTV
@OfficialArtCoTV 10 месяцев назад
That manual was actually my inspiration for this video. But due to the interior being in another dimension, I would assume it would just lead to somewhere else in the Tardis.

@@OfficialArtCoTV wdym another dimension?
@OfficialArtCoTV

Moving the inside further away is a metaphor for moving it to another plane, that plane being a separate dimension where the size of it becomes irrelevant.
