Horace needs a part 2 and 3. Seems like his interview was so short. I need to hear about his different job descriptions. What exactly has he done professionally. This man has so much WISDOM! Thank you Horace for your transparency!
Secret to big tech is feeder schools and feeder employers. After that, it's just focus on doubling your income, interview prep, etc. Feeder schools is really the key. Georgia Tech is a Microsoft feeder. Microsoft is a Salesforce feeder.
The information Horace is sharing is so true! I am in big tech (Salesforce) and it changed my life. The base salary is good but the quarterly bonuses + gratuity bonus + RSUs are mind blowing!
I think I was at that event in Atlanta. NBMBAA changed my life. I went as an observer the year before in Houston. The next year in ATL I had a mission, same prep, same work...and I landed my first six figure job. This resonates strongly with me.
I plan to start a tech recruiting company and was planning to particularly aim to recruit black people so I'm so glad to find your channel and this interview.
That’s noble but not smart you gonna want all races to know about your firm in order to succeed. You’re already niche down by just being a recruiting firm just for tech, no need to separate you’re potential earning base.
Thank you, Cyrus! Horace flipped the game on its head. Let’s aspire for 7 figures from yo’ job alone! Can’t thank you enough for these inspirational conversations that seem to escalate in value each time. 🔥
Cyrus I hope you see this comment, bro I really don't think you understand the impact you are having on people getting into tech, I am that super nerd that watch a lot of theses interviews, there are so many people that reference your interview on Anthony Oneal's show. Anthony did an interview with 5 people at the same time and they all said they learned about course careers by watching you on his show. Your impact is unreal bro, you are moving the needle whether you know it or not, so I just want to give you major props for that, keep doing it bro!!!!
Wow. This is really deep and I appreciate you so much for sharing this with me. I’m beyond grateful for messages like this. This motivates me to do more and go harder. Much love to you my guy ✊🏾
I just want to thank you for being an inspiration with your story and the stories of the guest you bring on.....about 2 weeks ago me and my wife had an emotional conversation based alot around our Finances, and alot of tears were shed. A day later your interview with AO was on my RU-vid feed and every day since I've been doing research and consuming content nonstop. I start my Sales Engineer Course for Careerist on March 6th. I just want to THANK YOU! 💪🏾
Thank you for this interview not only learning about the tech industry but you educating us how we can make money being employed in tech. Appreciate the work you do ! Keep on going!
This was an incredible conversation. I'm from ATL and share a similar story to Horace, so I felt a huge connection throughout the hour. Definitely more content like this!
@@techisthenewblack None. I had 6 years of experience in healthcare sales. I work for one of the biggest tech companies. It's only been 2 months and I am really enjoying it.
Cyrus your not lying but most kids that live in the hood like at that as there only opportunitie to get out the hood and make a change for a family because nobody ever told you about this another way to make money like you don’t have to go to the NBA or NFL to make millions of dollars
You know you getting money when you start wearing floral print jackets.😄 Interesting Interviews like these never seem long enough. This is great content, Thank you for sharing!💓💓💓
Bro been following you for a few months. Doing a lot of research and preparing I started today!!! I love how he said shoot higher!!!! Best believe I’m Shooting for the starts 🤧
43:07 “300 to 420…that’s like 120+, 40% up” 😂 I don’t know if anyone else caught that he calculated that in like 2 seconds, but I appreciated it … math is the new black too 🙌🏾
Wow, excellent podcast. I am an extremely extroverted engineer and have recently been rethinking where I am in my career. There are so many gems in this video that empower me to think , I can do more and earn more! Thanks for sharing
We need a part 2 to understand how. I’ve known ppl that have made crazy money in tech sales that were in the right territory at the right time. Also, how many years are you making a million dollars income? Reason I ask is because the ppl I know that have done it end up having their territories divided and carry a higher number which makes it harder to hit a million in consecutive years.
I love this man, I’m a young black software engineering student at the nations top school in innovation, Arizona state. Thanks for shining light on the topic.
I had the same thought this guy said, I’m getting certified to be a full stack developer without going to a. University for 6k NO DEBT cuz I got grants and I hope I can really do something with it
God Bless man, I really do love the content ... however, nobody is talking about how hard is actually to get into cyber. Not everything is sunshine and rainbows. I have some decent certification and knowledge and I have applied for 150/200 jobs in San Francisco Bay Area and I get rejection after rejection without explanation. Not really sure if it's me, or it's the current job market. Anyways, keep the content up!
Hey! Sorry to hear that you haven’t gotten a job yet. Depending on what you have or haven’t been doing, that can usually determine how long it takes. It took CJ 1 month, myself 2 months, Malachi 3 months, Tiffaney 4 months, Eman 5 and his wife 1 month. Just as examples. Some things you can do to speed up the process is 1. Have a consistent process in place (apply to 5-10 companies per day, reach out to the recruiters/hiring managers at the company, etc) 2. Make sure your Linkedin is up to par. See my FAQs on linkedin tips 3. How many tech tech networking events have you attended? These events are incredibly valuable and allow you to build personal rapport with recruiters. 4. Interview coaching. I recommend reaching out to recruitercousin or ooolala_naj for coaching on IG. 5. Definitely consider applying and interviewing for tech sales roles too. If you did a sales engineering bootcamp, you can apply to both roles. Please see my FAQs and podcast interviews with recruiters for more free tips! Careerist says they are money back guaranteed
I'm an RPA Developer and manage my company's UiPath infrastructure. No way someone is making $5 a year doing this. I need to find out what that guy is doing.
Hey! If you want to work in cybersecurity, check out syntax technologies! They are a leading cybersecurity bootcamp and if you mention “Cyrus” to them, they will give you a $200 discount!
Hey! So sign on bonuses are applicable to nearly any role and any level in tech. But the more experience/senior you are, that usually determines how much companies are willing to give as a bonus. The best time to ask for a bonus is after a company has sent you an offer letter. They aren’t going to take the offer back just because you ask for more (a sign on bonus). Also, you have better leverage to ask for more when you have offers from other companies too.
He said he went to Georgia tech for masters but what was his major in? and his BS major? I ask cause microsoft hires a lot of Computer science graduates.
Just found the answer. Follow the link on the description to this video it will show you his linked in profile, he has a BA and an MBA specializing in management of technology and entrepreneurship
This interview is wonderful! Hopefully, I can get excepted into the USC Ph.D. Aerospace Engineering Program for robotics, which can take my career path $$$ to the next level. 👍🏼
Thank you! Glad you found the interview informative. Tech offers exciting opportunities and potential for earning income. Keep exploring and seizing those possibilities!
I'm NONYE, chatting from Africa, Nigeria to be precise. I love your channel.its been educating and motivating. Now, I am interested in Tech, Data Science precisely. How do I start to learn, how do I go about getting a good job. I just need advice pls. Thank you
That's crazy small world. I assume you meant Rob from Ohio. I know him from high school lol!! Im also in tech and just gained a new follower. We may need to link.

Man I use tableau at work daily it’s so frustrating as a user I have to go back and try things to maybe try move the needle of percentages. It’s a guessing game.
I understand how frustrating that can be. Have you considered taking some additional Tableau training or seeking out resources to improve your skills? It may help you to become more efficient and effective in your use of the tool. Hang in there and keep pushing forward! 💪
@@techisthenewblack Yea I will be soon. Right now it’s trial and error trying to figure out what we’re doing on the UI to affect metrics but in due time.
