How To Get a Strong Low Back | Back Extensions Done Right!

Here’s my variation of back extensions. I wanted to make this video because I see (what I consider) most people doing these very inefficiently.
I think if done correctly back/hyper extensions can be a game changer for mid to lower back development and fix any postural issues but the key is to due them correctly. For me that means purposefully flexing and extending during the movement to fully contract your spinal erectors.
Let me know what you think of this variation in the comments below!

I really admire your videos but as a physiotherapist I've got to take issue with this because the first exercise is basically asking for anterior pelvic tilt. Anyone with even mild SI joint dysfunction will get worse with this. There's a reason why the spinal erectors are usually only trained isometrically, unless youre working super hard to balance APT with lower abs and hamstring work

Hit it once a week. Start with one exercise/3 sets if it’s really that neglected. It will probably be enough at first. I have a few who just add it in at the end of back day and within a month it’s strong enough not to be a limiting factor anymore.

For me personally it’s the exact opposite from my deadlift, RDL SlDs ect, in terms of hamstring effectiveness. 45 degree extensions destroy my hamstrings and glutes while deadlifting kills my erector’s. I wish there was a machine for 45 extensions because I can sufficiently rep 3 plates at which the exercise itself starts to become impractical due to holding on to more weight.

When I get stronger, I sometimes do them with my arms out front like a Superman pose.
