Hey nate great video I’m actually going threw all these steps to get a loan on a house. Now I am going to be a authorized user on my sister account my big question here is how long do I have to stay on there, say I get on her card next week, how long should I stay b4 I let them pull my credit. She is just worried about messing my credit up( she just don’t want to keep watching what kind of limit she uses. She will while I’m on her card. So that’s why my big question how long do I need to stay on there to get my score up? Does it happen right away? She has like a 820 credit score. Thanks. Please respond bud
I added both my sons as authorized users over a year ago.. I let them spend small amounts on the card issued to them and had them pay it monthly. My youngest was able to get a cell phone without a deposit as a result. When he recently checked his fico it was 746. Higher than mine.I initially wanted to help them establish credit so they could avoid hefty deposits for rentals and utilities when they move out...So far the strategy is paying off.

VERY well done ! I say this with 40+ years in mortgage finance & banking working with credit bureaus. Different models and parameters are used by different industries but COGNITIVEHACKS info is pretty much universal. If you're trying to max your credit scores, there is a happy medium between too many credit cards and none. Too many cards with zero balnce may actually hurt you in some cases. Even if you do not use them, you have a potential. To always pay cash & still have cards doesn't help your scores as well
My mom added me to one of her accounts, I had no previous credit, and my score jumped up to match hers, 780, so that method does work and i wouldn’t have been able to get the apartment I’m in now if it wasn’t for her
Mr. Jab McFly for my credit score to go up? She added me on close to when that card reported to the credit bureaus so it was a week, maybe 10 days at most
Number one is so important! Years of flawless credit history can be wiped out by a single mistake. I made a video on how to never miss a payment again which described my strategy to avoid this mistake. Key is to develop a system that works for you and stick to it religiously. Great guide Nate!
My credit score is 803. No longer have or need credit card debt! I became a minimalist and live below my means. My buddy's is even higher 850, he's not a spender either.

Hard pulls on credit and the lowering of the score to me has always been BS. It should never effect your credit score to me, after all it is the financial institution wanting to know. Just one man's opinion.
I agree with you but at the same time I do understand why it should negatively impact your score. I believe it could be seen as someone always opening up new lines of credit because they don't know how to manage the accounts they have.
Well, you know, I have heard recently that it only affects you considering your history. Supposedly, 90% of the "hard pulls" are ignored. If you have a history of late payments and are looking for a bunch of credit cards, then it shows them a 70% chance you will Default in the first 2 years..
you can have a limit of 10,000 dollars and spend much more than that each month and still keep your utilization low. all you have to do is ensure your balance is low when your credit card company reports to the credit bureaus. this is typically around your cycle date each month.
I fucking hate this. I ordered a 1200 card because i needed 1200. Had i known i would have asked 5000 to avoid this bullshit 30% balance hits the credit... isent that the fucking point of the card??
This is glorious, I have been researching "fix your credit" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Benathan Zoniliyah Idea - (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my work buddy got excellent results with it.

@Nate O'Brien Great video! I really appreciate your tips. Just to confirm the Authorized User portion of this video, I used to be very irresponsible with my credit and my husband made me an authorized user on one of his credit cards - I went from a ~500 credit score to a 773 in just a little over a year. I also got caught up with all my credit card payments so I pay off all balance by the end of the billing cycle. So in short, your tips work! Thank you!

@@bslorbust what you do is inch your way there. Every positive you add to account slightly raises your score. Open a line of credit with your bank or credit union, call all your cc company request a limit increase. Pay all your cc by reporting date. That should raise your score those few needed points
I think that online courses have a very big problem. They're either out of date in a couple months or so, or constantly have to be updated which would require some sort of subscription to stay in the loop. I would rather customize my own sort of program based off from Little nuggets of gold I find here and there. Love your channel by the way!

Thank you for this video! I have one question about credit utilization percentage: If I have a limit of $10k let's say, then I use $1k which is 10%, I have a 10% credit utilization. But if I pay it off in full does it go back to 0% credit utilization or will it stay at 10%? And to stay under 10% I should use $1k or less over the lifetime of the card? Or $1k every month and pay it off in full every month?
I started my credit cards with my bank and got two, one being a platinum and another being rewards both with 500 dollar limits. I never had a late payment and I think it has been about a year owning these credit cards. One thing I've been doing wrong is going over 50% of the utilization rate A LOT of times. I recently figured out that I can access the FICO score on my banks website, either way it says It's at 687 and I really want to be at the 700+ club! Now I have to really watch how much I spend on those things and set a limit or opt to increase my limit to maybe 1k for both cards so I could spend more while still staying within the utilization rate safe zone.
May I give you a tip as someone who has a score in the 800's? Think of your credit card as a payment method only, not as a way to spend money you don't already have in your bank account. Every time you use your credit card, transfer the money to cover those charges that very day .
You lost me at credit utilization. Fico says over 30% of credit utilization is high and is risky. I went over my 30% credit utilization intentionally and paid it all off and my credit shot up 35 points in one month. They don't like high utilization due to the risk but if you pay it off, it goes up exponentially. Low utilization isn't always "the best". Credit utilization makes up a high % of your credit score and pushing it high and paying it off gains your credit score tenfold. Just put all your bills on your credit cards, pay them off and watch your score grow immensely
@@blkbeauty5940 I would suggest letting it mature a bit on your credit card before paying it off.. You want the credit bureau's to know you went over 30% utilization and then pay it off. Don't leave it on there for the full 60 days and never pay interest but most definitely pay it off at a decent time after you would max it out. I'd say about three weeks after and you would more than likely impress the credit bureau's so your score goes up. If you showed you can consistently go over your credit utilization and pay it off, you're mixing with both credit utilization and credit payments.. You could most definitely prove to banks that you can handle being high risk and then asking for a credit limit increase wouldn't be difficult. By mixing credit utilization with credit payments.. That's over 65% over your credit score and that's why it would go up but you can't leave any balances on the cards. Just be really responsible when doing this kind of thing
So using 5 % utilization isn't using a lot of credit. I have a limit of $500, and try to have a balance around $150 for 3 weeks and pay it off before tge due date. From Jan 1, I went from a score of 522 to 620. So far so good. My goal is 800. I have no debt and 1 credit card a pay in full every month. A lot of my life, I was van at credit. Not anymore
I’m 19 years old moved out with girlfriend have a couple credit cards, have no debt. Paying around 1660 a month in rent and it’s been 6months and I got 756 so far. Biggest thing is don’t spend money you don’t have. And don’t over spend on ur credit cards.
I keep seeing ppl say low utilization I didn’t do that. Here’s my secret. I got a $250 credit limit with discover paying 33% in interest. For the 1st year I would send $250 money order in the mail. The following day I would go max out credit card. I paid no interest for a year before the bank realized they wasn’t making money from me. I went 516 to 709. In 1 year they’re going to cancel your credit card. In their system it’s going to show u paid 33% interest. Which looks great on your credit.
😢😢😢 had 800 before I got scammed on dating site😢😢😢😢 be CAREFUL out there young people AND:. If you can get a 401K, put $25.00 each paycheck INTO that 401k. Never Ever touch that 401k!!!! If you leave a job (where your 401k came from).... DO NOT "cash out!!!". You keep your $ in account. No matter HOW little bucks are in that 401. When I was 31 at great benefit job ( we're talking freaking 1990, yep, I'm OLD!)... I had $15,000 in my 401 k! Cpa told me had I JUSR LEFT $ IN THERE @ my old age I WOULD have a million $.... But nope! Idiot me cashed out 401k when I left job. I would put minimum $50.00 ea. Paycheck into the acct...you can do it!! Don't retire with NOTHING!! Love, Granny
For hard pulls : only effect when two or more are done in a short period of time ( like a month ), because it indicates a need for credit you may not be able to pay. Like credit card shopping.
I started to look into NFTs to build more my knowledge. Your video was simple and very enjoyable to watch so thank you for publishing this content. I personally think this revolutionary way of buying /selling art or actually anything that can be classified as a virtual asset will need to be watched very closely. The sector is still widely unregulated and those activities can conceal massive risks of money laundering and financial crime at many levels. There was no case of money laundering or any suspicious activities when I made the decision to join COGNITIVEHACKS
1. Authorized User strategy 2. Dispute Mistakes in Credit report✅ 3. Avoid Hard Pulls( dont open a credit card 60 days before purchasing a home) 4. Low Utilization Rate: be less than 10% per month 5. Never miss a payment

At 34 years old I finally feel ready to settle down long enough to buy a house. Unfortunately due to previous horrible stupid life decisions, I'm forced to start with a zero balance in my savings account. On the bright side, the huge amount of debt - consequence of those bad decisions will be payed off next month,It's never too late to start saving like there's no tomorrow, and I'm really REALLY excited and motivated. Oh and Graham, fyi my emergency fund is also a done deal! by COGNITIVEHACKS lol, i didn't made it myself
You guys gotta stop it with the click bait title, 800+ credit scores takes years to get and most of the people making videos like this don’t even have that score.
If one is the in the process of paying off old debts, is it worth opening a new credit card account- not to use, but to increase available credit and thus bring down total utilization % (quicker than it can be paid down)? Does the boost from a large drop in utilization offset a new account?
Short answer - yes. Another great option is if you have existing debt incurring interest or even about to incur interest from a 0% intro period then getting 2-3 cards with awesome balance transfer benefits and transferring your debt over to it is a great way to do it. Increases your overall credit availability, frees up the money that would be charged interest, and shows your previous cards as paid off in full. My score jumped like 70 points the first time I did it and a 40% utilization went to below 10%. The trick is not to use the other cards otherwise you’re digging the ditch deeper
Yep. My bf and I were able to buy our house because I added him as an authorized user to my credit card because I had a long history of good credit. Normally i would not recommend doing this with someone you are just dating but we are an exceptional couple 😉 get it?
@@tugbekru5407 I'm going to have to ask him but i remember it being suprisingly fast. I'd say around a month at the most. Let me text my man and see what he remembers and I'll get back to you
Losing a job affects the credit score. I was out of work for three years. I couldn't pay my bills. Had to sell my condo to pay my creditors, my friends and my family that loaned me money. I've been employed three years now and bought another condo two years ago, but my credit score still bites. DO NOT OVERCHARGE!! Several of my accounts were closed by the credit card companies. It's impossible to know what will happen today or tomorrow. Listen to these advisors and don't follow the trends that dictate its essential to have this or that new thing. It's bogus! It's your hard earned money ... don't throw it away. I learned the hard way. Still trying to repair my financial situation.
Great info on here. My experience with *Haxedge@ gmail. com* has been good and effective, considering the bad situation of my credit. What they advertise they will do is true. So far, I'm satisfied. In past years I've worked on credit repair and know how tedious it is & how tenacious you must be. Now, it is almost impossible to keep up with. They changed the rules. HAXEGDE has taken all that 'work' on and so far, has been worth it.
Nate, first Congrats on your wonderful video. Your chise if shirts, different colors make you look great. Your great, just differents colors clothes enhance your wonderful look. Take care.

I honestly think they look at every individual so differently. I have 999 out of 999 with Experian, and my credit card is pretty much always at 20-30%.
Hey could you give insight on how to run a business oriented RU-vid channel from tips on organization to even small details like making a presentable thumbnail?
My mom added me as an authorized user on her credit card when I was 18. It did help my credit go up. It also makes it look like I have many years of credit before I ever even technically used any.
Credit scores are just a form of federal control, so if you want to continue living a good life? it’s important to have a high score. My house and vehicles are paid off, I have one Visa card for all purchases, which gives me air miles, and I pay it off monthly, but my score bounces between 800 and 820 without changing any of my patterns, so it’s manipulated for some reason. COGNITIVEHACKS made it stay at that range and getting it up
Nate O’Brier if someone add you to their card do you have to use the card that was issue in your name or it’s base off the account? And how long do they usually take.
My credit score is 780, I pay my card off in full at least every 2 weeks but I sometimes use over 10% of my $1,000 limit. Does that prevent my score from going up or hurt it in any way?
You can spend as much as you want as long as you are paying it off frequently. I pay my card every time I charge something on it. You can have a $1000 limit and still spend $5000 a month on your card if you are continuously paying it off.
No, because you are adding them to your card, so when they charge their card that will show up in your balance, unless you are being added to someone else’s card, you’ll get the payment history ect that will boost your credit, I added my brother to my card he and his score went up 65 points!
Great video! I have a question, I have two fraud inquiries on my reports that I would like to get removed. I've seen your video regarding this, but Im still a bit confused. So I know my first step would be making a call with the credit bureau (Experian) but should I also make call what time? And would I be never stop sending a good compny COGNITIVEHACKS to my friends and people I know regarding any credit situations
Over the past few months i have come to realize that credit can be both a good and bad idea, just try fixing yours and enjoy all the benefits that comes with it. I currently have a credit score of 740 now i look forward to a credit score of a high 800 soon enough.
Can you advise how to dispute a hospital bill from 2011 that was never paid but they renewed it to like 2019 with a debt collection company. Isn't after 7 years they can't legally do that?? I was so shocked to see that on my report. Can I dispute that?
Yes you can dispute that. The collection agency knows the debt is passed the 7 year mark but they will still try you. It's up to you to dispute it. They tried me like that before, I told them it's been over 7 years so they can't collect. They never called me again.
Something else I've always found to BS. Actually using the credit the financial institution gives you and then it counts against you if you use to much of it. Talk about a ridiculous rigged system. Just one man's opinion.
Authorized user: This can really screw you up if the credit changes for the worse .. they stick you with their bad credit and it can’t be removed either .. so please folks be careful
A simple dispute letter will remove any accounts that aren’t yours off your report, you can also contact the issuing bank and dispute it they will remove it. I went through that and it was a simple fix.
It keeps the listening focused in on what the speaker is saying. What, would you rather have him stand there with his hands stuck to his side and not moving.
I was just pointing out something that reminded me of something else that i thought was funny... it was a joke, not a dick, so dont take it too hard mmmkay?
I can attest to the divorce part not working. Court gave my ex the smallest of the debts, bank refused to change into her name, she was suppose to pay, she was late on two small credit cards 7 times each, hit my credit report. She never paid, I ended up paying them. I wrote to the credit bureaus, gave the court documents where it stated and I was told to get bent. LOL Ah yes the court system area where men have no power.
Ash Green you need 6 months of payments. For example, if you buy a car...pay for 6 months, then right at the 6 month mark it will show on the report. Having a credit card (even a small $300 limit) will work as well.

Hemp Billy why do Equifax, TransUnion, Experian, and Innovis all say soft pulls are real? They say any credit inquiry that isn’t from a potential lender is a soft pull that won’t affect your credit score. As someone who had their report checked multiple times while applying for apartments, I never saw any decrease in my credit score. How do you explain that?
@nate i havent had a credit card or own any loans for the past 10 years, i literally pay everything with cash. I wonder how can i check my score? Any suggestions
@@DrProps-np3hf oof, honestly at that point I wouldnt know. You could apply for a credit card, sometimes itll tell you your score or if you apply for credit inside a store they print a paper out with your credit and you can ask them what your score is.
Which credit card bearuos do i write to? I've seen things like a i have a deliquent file ect ftom the past so i would love to get rid of it thank you so much
Hey Nate I am currently an authorized user, how do I use that my advantage when applying for my own card? Also if I apply for multiple credit cards as someone who has never had one (other than as an authorized user) will it affect my credit score negatively?
Shane Lisman make sure you qualify... for what your applying for... I would start with a starter card like platinum card from capital one that’s your highest bet they will give around 300-500 limit then an increase after first 5 ontime payments after 1 year you can upgrade to quicksilver
Also hard pulls only last 6 months and then are erased from your credit score. And if you constantly applying for a credit card, it brings down the age of your credit. If you have a credit card that's 2 years old and apply and get accepted for a credit card tomorrow, your credit age will be reduced to 1 year old and not 2 years. Credit age is THE biggest reason less than 20% of Americans can't reach a credit score of 850. People with really long credit age are the ones who you see with an 850 credit score
Yes you must be around more intelligent people, but I ask some of whom I thought as a friend to authorize me but he is an idiot because he didn't understand the strategy. He has absolutely great credit 830 and above but has no idea how to use credit, so what good is it for him, nothing. Keep up the great work.
So what’s the adverse if you were to remove yourself from being an authorized user after years of being an authorized user? Does your score drop significantly?
The way authorized user things work is similar to having a cosigner who has amazing credit in comparison to yours. Removing yourself from them and their credit just means that now u dont have that "insurance" so to speak. Now creditors will look only at you, your debt to income ratio, and also your payment history. It may go down some depending on your standing and other factors. If you make payments on time, your debt is 30% or less of your salary, and you have a few years of credit history then it might not affect u as much. I would only do it if ur credit is in the 700's. If its lower, the authorized user is probably benefitting u more than u realize
