Hi, Iam S.C.Dinesh from India,Chennai, I have some doubts for applying open work permit and i am eligible to apply open workpermit outside Canada,please find the doubts and clarify me on the same. 1. I don't have any employment offer letter/ Job offer letter from Canadian employer. can i apply for open work permit ? 2. I will search for jobs only after landing in Canada through open work-permit, is it acceptable ? . 3. Do i need to show any proof of fund for open work permit because am not going with any job offer ? 4. i don't have any family, friends in Canada am the first one , am i eligible to apply open work permit?. 5. Is IELTS and ECA documents are required for applying open work-permit ? Kindly look into my question and clarify me on the same. Quick response is much appreciable

you said that to apply for open work permit one needs to be in Canada. my wife wishes to apply for a spousal open work permit based on my study visa starting in January 2020. so how would she apply since she is in India? what's the way?

My spouse (wife) might get transferred to Canada as her company has applied for a work permit for her as she is a resource with knowledge and work exp on proprietary tools. We also have started our PR process a few months ago without knowing that she might get transferred. I am the primary applicant for the PR and I would apply for an open work permit when her transfer is confirmed. As we have applied for a PR, will I still need an LMI to gain those 600 extra points for my PR? Can you provide more information on open work permit and the PR process further?

calculate your CRS points again with the change in position of your spouse and that should help. Your post is 4 month old. I hope you are already here :)

Hello N Y, This is not called an open work permit. Individuals that can apply for an open work permit are: permanent residence applicants who have applied to a Canadian office; dependent family members of some PR applicants; spouses and common-law partners of some workers and international students; refugees, refugee claimants, protected persons and their families; some temporary resident permit holders; and/or some young workers in special programs. With regards to coming to Canada from Australia to have your own business, this would be a different Immigration matter.
