I haven't exactly spent hours researching all things NMS, but, you just showed me how to defeat a freighter. I had no idea about shooting out the engines. Thank you very much!
Came across the dreadnought battle by just playing the game. First time so I checked YT so I knew what I was getting into and found this video. Glad I did. I'm guessing HG made the rolls more generous because after only 4 attempts I got a S:25+13 Pirate Dreadnought.
Also of note, when I found the pirate fight, I always found it in that same system regardless of if I took the freighter, blew it up, demanded tribute, or just went full FAFO and ignored the fight. May be system specific or just a current bug that will be patched out but currently as of today, the two systems I have fights in always have fights. Great for rep farming and for looking for pirate freighters so to those on the hunt, take advantage of any system you find and don't forget the easy loot!
roughly 20 tries and got it not in the system I was farming, but a rando pirate system I jumped to so I could refill at the station for warp fuel while doing your challenge for the Sons. Warped in and boom! S class. Guess it may help to find two active combat systems and if possible, jump between them for faster repeat fights.
Just finishing off the expedition and then I shall be going after one of these for sure. My current freighter is an S class capitol sentinel ship which is all sorts of cool, but I need big guns...
When I warped to a different system to drop a restore point, returning to the system with the freighter battle yields… nothing. The freighter battle disappeared! Any ideas?
No, but I put nothing past NMS wonkiness. I just did it on stream yesterday, and it worked just fine, but someone else just said the same thing so there's clearly something off. I wish I knew what was causing this.
holy shyt! Warped about 20-30 times, got 2 pirate freighters C class so just kept looking. my last jump, started fighting a pirate freighter again thinking it was a C class. then game crashed! man was i pissed! fortunately loaded me back into the fight. anyways, it turned out to be an S CLASS!!!! So lucky!!!!!
i've been jumping through pirate systems for literal hours and have yet to even spot a single one, in addition i haven't seen 3 pirate fights (without the pirate dreadnought either) in those hours... feeling a bit disillusioned tbh
Question for you: do you have space battles turned off in your settings? Just had someone else with this problem the other day, and they had no idea it was off. That setting will keep these things from happening, so check that and we can take it from there
@@DreadCaptainJames i'm still not sure why I wasn't getting any freighters initially, but after i did a bit more of the quest chain, I had a freighter fight (which i knocked out real quick and claimed the C class freighter) then jumped into a pirate system and found myself in a fight with a dreadnought, it was C class, so i took the money, jumped a few more times, got another C class dreadnought , just reloaded the save point and started that one over with a decent S class dreadnought... the key was having a standard freighter beforehand
That's RNG not being in your favor. I've been there. Complete reload of the game might help, especially if you're only seeing a C class. Also, changing systems might be a good plan and finding another one.
bro u got hella unlucky or i just got so lucky cus the very first time i warp to a pirate system there is a battle and the pirate frieghter is S class. no idea how lucky i am
@horrorchef11 it's technically a 5% chance in a pirate system, but that's 5% each time you roll it, so it technically has the possibility to be both of these scenarios could be possible. More likely to take a while, but first time is sick! I've had it happen before as well, and it's nuts
Thats clearly not working anymore... Tried step by step for over 3 hours while hunting S-Class. Everytime Savepoint with freighter reloaded at the begining of the battle. After two sometimes three battles savepoint reloads without battle - wasted hours (gonna keep doing till I find that damn thing). Video was usefull than expected tho clearly not working anymore
Really surprised to hear this, and I'm sorry it's not working for you. I just performed this exactly yesterday on stream, and it still worked. Must be another factor we don't know about
It was stock music from Shutterstock unfortunately, and I don't remember the track. I used them for about a year, now I generate background music with AI
I've watched lots of videos on how to get this ship, read quite a few posts and articles on the net, but I can't get the pirate freighter to spawn. I've had it spawn twice randomly when I wasn't really looking for it. Didn't take the ship because it was a C class. After that, I decided to tryhard and made a route where I hopped between 5 different pirate systems consecutively for about 60 jumps total. The pirate freighter never spawned. I only got the event where freighters are under attack by smaller pirate ships. Then I read about a method on Reddit where you're supposed to portal to a certain system and jump between two pirate systems. One of which was supposedly a "guaranteed" pirate freighter spawn on every jump with a good chance of it also spawning in the other system. I've jumped between these two systems about 20 times and I've never gotten a pirate freighter to spawn there either. So, what am I doing wrong? Is there some prerequisite to this that I'm not aware of? I find it strange that I've seen this event happen twice, and now it just flat out refuses to happen anymore.
We have collectively considered that when only the smaller attack happens, you need to defeat them and then move on. We (our community) think it might be overriding the pirate battles. Try that and see if it works. No guarantee, but it's a start. I haven't tested it myself, but it would make some sense
