For example, if you own the physical version of Smash Bros Ultimate during the year it came out or the month or pre order, you can collect gold points from it for only one year and how many gold points you have, it can convert into cash for your Nintendo account so if you used up all your money on a Nintendo e-shop gift card, you can still have extra money to buy more if you have enough.
