Yahoo! I'm glad that you found the information valuable. It's a skillset everybody should have in their back pocket. What's caught your eye about grant writing?
@@LearnGrantWriting I worked as a lawyer for 25+ years. I have the skillset needed to do grant writing and these particular skills were ones I loved using.
Yessss! It's a comfortable feeling when the skillset you have (and love using) aligns with the prospective field you want to get into! So what is your next move? Are you looking at training to foster your skills and grow a business?
Thank you for this great information, Meredith. Around the 7:00 minute mark when you were talking about landing pages and how clear and simple they need to be, you mentioned that people can ask you to send a proposal. Would you send a proposal to someone without doing a discovery call first?
A good question and something we coach on in The Global Grant Writers Collective, but in short, no way. It would be like a doctor prescribing meds w/o knowing how they could help. Discovery call first. You can learn more about how to find clients and set expectations in this training here www.learngrantwriting.org/become-a-paid-grant-writer/
Are there any steps to making sure that new team members/independent freelance grant writers do not try to take new clients and make them their own, besides having a contract with the new grant writer?
Hey again. Something we would coach on in the Collective. We'd help you build systems for hiring and contracting, adding in information on a non compete clause. Why's grant writing on your radar? Are you looking to become a well paid grant writer or building up a consultancy you already have?
Don't laugh, I mean this nicely. Keep the raccoon eyes in all your videos. It looks good, maintains eye contact, and shows your active. I'm going to use this in my stuff.
