I do tons of paydirt reviews on my channel and I use secret shoppers for every single bag so they can't be manipulated by the seller to make a better or worse bag due to knowing it will be reviewed. As to why I buy paydirt, it's because I have been disabled for the last 10 years and have had to have multiple surgeries which have kept me unable to go out prospecting, so being a mailbox miner is my only option.

I am 70 years old with a bad back. I can not walk 5 miles to get to a rugged spot or bend over for a long time. That makes pay dirt fun for me. Thanks for the info.

The people i know who would buy paydirt are often the ones with little field experience and even less confidence. They want some known gold they can practice their panning with so when they do go out in the field they know their technique is sound and they arent just throwing it back into the river

I have tried to find my own gold and I have not had any luck. So that's why I bought some pay dirt. And now I'm hooked. I still go out and look for my own. But it's also great when it gets too cold to go prospecting.

Paydirt is awesome because it allows small scale miners to make a better profit than if they just sold to refiners while also giving people that don't live in a gold bearing area a chance to buy some natural gold they would never be able to mine themselves.

I did buy a bag once for cheap, I think it was about $15. It was the middle of winter here in Michigan and I thought, why not? I did think the dirt was weird, not like anything I'd ever seen from a creek and the gold was all exactly the same size little bits. It was too easy to pan! I mean jeez, we've got all this micro fine black sand and clay around here and little microscopic specks of gold. Now that's a challenge! Okay, you've got me convinced. It's a nice day. I'm heading to the creek.

At our GPAA local chapter, our guy gets $10 or $20 dollars of gold and puts it in a bag of sand and sell it for the gold price. When I started, I was hoping for an actual combination of black sand and gravel of different sizes so I would get good practice. One of our members sells paydirt to pay his claim fees and he invites members to come help work the claims in the summer.

You are a riot. I would enjoy crossing paths with you some time while prospecting. You made an appearance at Tims this year? My first experience with gold panning was at Knots Berry Farm in the 1960's. I still remember panning small flakes from a wooden trough filled with sand. The next experience was for real as a teenager during a fishing trip on the Middle Fork of the Feather. I can see how this idea could be a great way to get kids into prospecting - but a $10,000 bucket? I had no idea this was big business!! I've often thought it would be fun to let kids pan for real gold when they are being taught the history of the gold rush. Maybe this is how I should eventually dispose of a lifetime of collecting??? These days kids need to be encouraged to find a hobby that takes them outdoors.

As long as you are able to get out, of course that is the way to go, but as a person that cannot walk a long way, if is a good way to see some color and have fun. I like the idea of someone (husband) buying gold and making me some paydirt......

i think the best use for a $10,000 bucket would be to scatter them (maybe use a seed-spreader) all over a sandy area in your yard.. diy prospecting patch that should last a lot longer, and be in more realistic dirt/gold proportions. but your point is completely valid, why not just sell natural paydirt? even if it is low-grade, you're saving yourself the effort or cost of processing it yourself

Not everyone has an area where they can go prospect for gold, so guys like Dave who sell Paydirt for $55 and the customer gets $58 worth of gold back is the only way some people can experience anything close to the real deal, unless they have the money to travel the country whenever they want to find some gold. A lot of places offer a amount of gold very close to what your spending some even have more gold then what you pay for.

My dad buys $50 bags from roaring camp every month. They use actual gold bearing gravel. he does ok biggest he got was a 0.4 gram nugget. I would never buy it but he likes though

When you reference the RU-vid guy whom does a lot of Pay Dirt reviews, if it is the guy I am thinking of I believe he doesn't receive any kick backs for the videos and he actually goes out of his way to hide the fact it is him that is purchasing the payday, I suppose so it is a true representation of what Joe Blogs will get. TBH paydirt not my thing, I would rather find it for myself, that is the reason I like your channel very much, but as you said some folks love pay dirt and same folks like the dudes reviews.

Not a substitute for actually going out into the field, but for people wanting to practice with no place nearby, and/or for entertainment value, I'll second several others who mentioned Dave at Goldbay. I have Zero affiliation, I just appreciate someone who's fair and honest, in any business. Plus he seems like a cool dude with a good sense of humor. The returns on his bags are Way higher than most, including a couple/few just below spot, and he has a 100% satisfaction guaranteed policy, or he'll refund All of your money, even after panning the paydirt. I watched every freaking one of Klesh's review videos before deciding on trying someone (like 80 something? Lol) and Goldbay was the clear winner. I buy some one just to tune my metal detector to it I don't buy it anymore I just wanted a small amount try to learn what nuggets sound like on it and just to practice with a metal detector

There is a place just outside Cleveland, GA. that is supposed to be a real gold mine. They will let you pan for gold there for a fee (I don't know how much). I have heard that they dump a couple of shovel full of actual mine dirt in a container and then you go to panning. I understand that everyone finds a little gold. It is a tourist attraction, mainly. Kind of like buying pay dirt, at the real mine to me. Just think, if the same person was willing to do a bit of prospecting in the creeks around there they could find more gold than at the mine. HA! HA1 ;-)

I bought pay dirt once. At a gold museum. Along with a 10” pan. So I could see what panning was like (watched some videos first). But I probably won’t buy anymore. I’d rather find my own. 😇. I also did Not run it through a strainer first ~ that would be something I’d recommend-like you did. Classify first. I bought it for the experience not the gold. I also like your book.

Knowing that gold is around $50 gram right now. And not begrudging anyone for making a profit. But paydirt is only going to be a fraction of that. I'd take my chances and buy nuggets and flakes online to throw in some dirt and pan.

I want to start panning, i just dont know the legalities. I am going to get some paydirt but i am super curious how often is a come up from paydirt? Not just breaking even or coming close do people ever profit. But where does one go to learn the does and donts with gold panning. I totally feel like I can’t find much information on my own. legal details Where can i go? How do i know if this is someones claim. Are there possible fines? I understand keeping nature safe and as if you were never there. Any advice? Im in Washington State.

Not all vendors are shady. There are a few good ones out there. They usually charge about 10 dollars over spot for larger gold and spot for smaller gold. They use actual river gravel with natural occuring gold in it. The thing about gold paydirt is I like natural gold and I love prospecting but in all reality how much per gram do I spend prospecting? A lot more then buying paydirt from a reputable gold dealer. Gas, time I am not working, equipment, days, weeks, even months of research and some back breaking labor to top it off, all with no guarantee I'll even find any gold at all. If you add up the time and money spent to find a gram of gold it far outweighs the actual value of the gold. Unless you plan on filing a claim and mining an area it is a lot cheaper to buy paydirt if you just have an itch as long as you find the right guys and you aren't going to find them on eBay, etsy or Amazon. I prospect for the experience and I like going out and beating myself to hell for a little gold but a lot of people don't. I enjoy paydirt like I enjoy fishing at a pay and take pond, it's not as fun of an adventure as chasing golden trout around the high sierras but still fun to pull on over sized, farm raised, stocked rainbows. Both are fun in their own ways.

Back in the day, the President of Redi-Gro told me while he took me on a tour trying to convince me to carry his line of products, "Yeah, amazing how people will even buy shit if you put it in a bag.".

So it sounds like if somebody actually put out pay dirt that had an 80% return they could corner the market. And still have a 20% profit margin. Greed kills just not soon enough.

Chris i written to you before, u did respond, thank u for that, OK i want to explain my deal, and i would welcome ur input and appreciate it greatly.i am a trucker, i was on a job, in Washington state, a long time ago. i was hauling gold ore, it came from Ireland, it was shipped over here, to take to this particular mill. i had an accident, at the end of my last load, after the weigh out, at the mill, and i ended up with about 2 1/2 tons of this material, ive moved a couple of times and have had to Carrie it around with me in buckets because i couldn't give it up, i was told by the people at the harbor, that they were told that it had 1 1/2 to 2 ounces per ton. idk, but i have it."now to the present", "ive made a miller table", because there was a lot of dirt with the load. ive found that this is a lot of very fine minute gold, i dont know if the mill, and maybe thats why that sent it here, maybe they r using chemicals to extract the gold, but this was just a tester ,is what i was told, that they were sending to the mill, but it was costing the person who sent it here a lot of money, a lot!!!!!!, in any case, im have a problem because it very minute gold, and im have problems extracting, from the ore, so i made a rock crusher, cost $300 bucks, now more as ive had to replace the moter on that, so im crushing again. "when its over the crushing", ill pan, but how do i get that very fine stuff, appreciate the feed back.

Spot on Chris ! More fun to find gold yourself ! One could argue that spending hours in the field, fuel, and equipment is about the same as paydirt bag. Sadly, there are a lot of "Armchair Prospectors" out there. Only folks who might be handicap and can't get out, would benefit greatly from a paydirt bag. Thanks for sharing. Well considering the weight and that there nice big nuggets wich makes them worth more if you were to sell the so that is I would say roughly about 8 thousand dollars worth of gold.
