@@cricutandcrafts question if I may, when I go to the website and register, it takes me to a different screen that shows mobile and movies and then I have to put my credit card in, is that legit? I just want to make sure before I go and put my credit card information out there that I’m in the correct place. I appreciate if you could help me!!!

I appreciate the font makers that create fonts with commercial use with donation of any amount. People who do projects need lots of fonts and the fonts people want you to purchase are usually $25 for commercial license. So imagine you need 10 fonts. $250 just for 10 fonts? Really? Pretty ridiculous in my opinion. On top of that you may have additional advertising or product cost and a new design may not be a hot seller. I'm mixed on the font thing. On one hand I want people to have their rights to sell their product and on the other the expense is ridiculous. I think the solution is a "free for commercial use" only website.

As a designer myself, I definitely spend more than that on fonts & appreciate font designers as well! I understand if you need an expensive font and think you’ll only use it once that it might not be cost effective. Have you tried reaching out to a designer to make a design for you with specific fonts? It would probably be cheaper than purchasing certain high priced fonts. Plus remember these expenses are tax deductions which helps a little too 🙃

I definitely would! Just remember that if you’re using it for anything you make money on to purchase the commercial license for. I personally do not use any “for personal use only” fonts to avoid licensing issues.

Make sure to double check by clicking on the font and reading the description. Some are mislabeled and say “for personal use only” in the description. If you ever want to check further, a lot of times you can find an email for the font creator in the description and you can reach out to them as well ❤️

Hi! Check the font page. Sometimes there is a link there to take you where to purchase it. Some may just have a PayPal email and ask for a donation. They’re all different so it’s hard to say without seeing it! You can always message the creator and ask them too!

Hello! I was just wondering, I had seen a few fonts I would like to use for commercial use that say 100% free. What if there are no comments that state it’s not for commercial use and that person isn’t responding?

I would think that it's safe to assume that it is a free commercial use font then. If it makes you feel better, take a screenshot of where it says it's 100% free and keep for your records. That way you have something to show if anyone were to ask!

Check their forum. They still suggest that you contact the author for prior authorization or to check the licensing pdf when you download the file (if the font includes one). As a font designer myself, I would mark mine as personal use only if I did not want anyone to be using it commercially.. that would be the norm anyway! Hope that helps

You can use some fonts from dafont that way. You just have to check before downloading/using in that way.

I would only use 100% free fonts or fonts you have the commercial license to for you tube. (Basically don’t use personal use only fonts!!)

Yes, as long as the font includes a commercial license (even a free commercial use font) you can sell items you made using the font. Hope that helps!

I think it’s safe to assume that you would need the commercial use license for any fonts you use in your business. This video shows how to find free ones on dafont that you can use. I would not use a “personal use” font for your RU-vid business! My thinking on this is that you would need proper licensing for music in your videos so you should probably do the same with fonts. Just saw this! Just make sure to read any additional text when you click on the font to preview it. I’ve found a few that were listed as 100% free but then they stated otherwise in their description.
