I arrived at London's Heathrow Airport at Terminal 5 on my flight from Manchester and i had to get to Terminal 3 for my flight to Las Vegas,This videos shows you how to do this,Hopefully this video can help you if you find yourself in the same situation.

Thanks for posting this video. I'm not making a connection, but I'm arriving at Terminal 5 and have to meet other travelers at Terminal 3. It's clear from the signage you show that this is the right way to go!

it's all so straightforward, i've been to many airports but none come close to heathrow, its just so so efficient. I'm doing a similar journey to you in a couple of weeks, Newcastle to heathrow, across to terminal 3 and then American airlines to Philly. Looking forward to it! Nice vid

I was there just last year. I'm lucky enough to have family over there, so no worries about hotels and whatnot. It's a great city and you've got other cities like NY and DC within a few hours drive. Thanks mate!

wheytogo - Efficient? when you have to take a buss to change terminal? In a good airport all the terminals are in the same building and no need for taking busses or trains. Thats why videos like this is good.

Ketchup, you must surely be joking? Are you aware of the sheer size of Heathrow? It would be quite impossible to have all flights operate from one building. I was at Heathrow yesterday and I had to cross from 3-5. Baring in mind the two terminals are a fair distance from one another it took a mere 9 minutes. I have been to many airports and the best and most efficient is by far Heathrow.

At first, I was wondering why there is a flight connections sign. This is because I didn't know you can stop at an airport to connect. Also my thought was that your luggage was at a different terminal. I didn't know this until I flied.

It does seem a bit silly that you have to clear security again at Heathrow when you would have already cleared the UK security requirements at Manchester. Not like in the US where you only need to go through security/TSA at your starting point and not at your connecting hub.

Hello, I enjoyed the video. I have a two hour layover in LHR. Going from Bahrain to Chicago and am not sure yet what terminals I have because the flight isn't for another month but my friend did the same thing I'm about to do and missed her flight with a 2 hour layover. I've flown all over the US and never had issues but I'm nervous about overseas terminals. Are there multiple baggage checks or customs I'll have to go through while just transferring from one terminal to the other?

Jeremy Amanda Flory I would say don’t worry. It should take 1hr to 1,5hr max. Yes there are a few checks but you will be fine. If you think you are a struggling for time then make the staff aware,when we were in the baggage queue somebody was there asking if anyone was near their flight time. Hope all goes ok. John.

Hi bud. Great video. Sound like a fellow yorksha man like me. How long did it take you from landing, to disembarking, to arriving at the gate? I have to get from T5 to T3 in 110mins and I travel from UK to USA. I only have hand luggage. Will I struggle? Thank you!

Nice video. But one thing confuse me little bit, why would you need to go to your airlines representatives again? If it is a transit you probably already have a boarding ticket for the next flight. I have never been at Heathrow,, but on other airport i have never have to check in twice when i do tranist. Is it different in Heathrow?

My flight is from DOHA (Qatar Airways) to London Heathrow Airport (Terminal 5) and then from London Heathrow Airport Terminal 3 (British airways) to Nuremberg, Germany. As my flights are changing I need to claim the baggage too and catch another flight after changing the terminal. Can you provide a guide on that? Thanks

I didn't come across in your video any reference to the time taken for this exercise of changing terminals from 5 to 3 at Heathrow. I will be transiting through Heathrow this week and have just 40 minutes for changing terminals at from 5 to 3. Is it even possible to do so in 40 minutes, considering that flight gates close 20 to 10 minutes before departure? Thank you.

Hi Biswanath. 40 mins is a very close cal,very close. i think it may of taken us a bit longer,And that is with no hold ups. i suggest you mention you have limited time to someone as soon as you get off the plane. Hope all goes ok for you.....John

New to flying here, so I'm inexperienced, a little help? I'm going from Newcastle - Vienna with British airways, and connecting through Heathrow, I arrive at terminal 5 and depart from terminal 3, do I have to collect my suitcase or does it automatically get transferred through Heathrow? I have Newcastle as my starting point and Vienna as my final destination on my ticket... by the way awesome video, you made me feel a lot more comfortable about the idea of catching the buses haha

Fezzy Bear hi mate.are you flying with the same airline on the flights? If you are then once you check your suitcase in you won't see it again until your final destination. If you use different airlines then I'm not 100% sure.

My understanding is....If you are flying with the same company (as we were) we didnt see our bags till we got to our final destination,But lets say we flew BA to Heathrow then Virgin to Vegas,My understanding would be you have to pick up your luggage and check it in with virgin,Hope this helps....John

It took us around 20-25 mins. We was only walking steady and we almost went straight in a bus so at most i would say no longer than 30 mins if you don't rush.

took us no longer than 1 hour,But we got straight on the bus,if you have to wait add maybe another 10 mins on top of that.

Hi, thanks for the video. I'll be doing this tomorrow although i have to take my suitcase and then go through customs as i will be taking emirates from t3. how long do you reckon the suitcase will arrive? i only have 2hr 45mins for the connection and i'm skeptical that the suitcase will arrive longer.

im not sure on the suitcase as its not something i had to do,i would say you have around an hour spare so i dont think it would take 1 hour to wait for a suitcase. hope it goes ok.

Hi Hannah. I think you will be ok. If you are in the security line and you think time is close all you need to do is inform a staff member and they will move you to the front. Have a safe trip 👍

Hi Amit,Glad the video helped you out. Both of our flights were with the same company,British Airways. So we checked our luggage in at Manchester and didnt see it again till we got to Vegas,I am not sure what happens if you are flying with 2 different airlines mate.

My flight from South Africa to London Heathrow says British airways, I then connect at heathrow to Dallas Texas on British airways (operated by American airways). So, my question is exactly like yours. What happens with my bag. Do I take it from British airways and check it in with American airways at Heathrow? Or, it will proceed by its self? Help.

Nice video. Strange that your domestic flight landed at Terminal 5 and your international flight took off at the 3th. Anyway, I have a question for you : We are landing at terminal 3 from Marseille a 8pm and our flight to Singapore take off at 9.35pm from Terminal 5. hi when u say u have to go to BA desk (that's who we're flying with too) is that before or after u have gone through security. it's first time we have done a connecting flight and a bit unsure any help would be great.

Hi, we are flying BA to terminal 5 then we were told we have to collect our cases then go to terminal 3 for the Virgin flight. We only have 1.5 hours between arriving and the virgin flight? Is that enough time??

Thanks. Just wondering if there is a spike during that month. I have been there in September of 2015 and there was quite a crowd. Just wander if its worse in June. I will have to do this exact same routine T5 to T3.

Yeah. The bus only took about 10 mins max.like I say we had a bus waiting. I'm not sure how often they run if you just miss one but I wouldn't think too long. Hope this helps.

I know I could be a little bit stupid but, the luggage? I will do a Bologna to Dallas via Heathrow, first with British and then with American Airlines, do I have to care about the luggage or not?

I am not 100% on this but....I think you will have to pick your luggage up again at heathrow as you are flying with 2 different airlines,We flew with BA from manchester to london then from london to vegas so didnt need to see our luggage again from when we checked it in in manchester to landing in vegas,If we flew with 2 separate airlines i was under the impression we would have to get our luggage again when arriving in london. hope this helps.

American and BA are both part of the Oneworld alliance so it shouldn't be an issue. Just make sure you let the check in desk know when you first arrive at the airport in Bolonga and they should make sure you luggage goes straight through to Dallas!

I am from Chennai...i m travelling to bermuda... Chennai to uk and uk to connecting bermuda...i have one dout sir .i am arrivel in uk airport is terminal 5...my departure connecting flight also terminal 5........both are British Airways....so i am changing only gate are i m changed go to bus out of the terminal..

Hi jith. I am not 100% sure to be honest, At a guess...if you are flying from same terminal then you might not need a bus, just walk to the gate for your flight to Bermuda, Safe travels...John

Hello , we have a similar situation in Heathrow. Our flight from India arrives at terminal 5 at 12:40 pm and our connecting flight to Dallas, is from terminal 3 at 2:10 pm . So I have only 1.5 hrs between flights . Is this enough time to make it ?

Our inbound flight to Heathrow was delayed by almost an hour and fortunately, British airways figured that we would miss our connecting flight and rebooked us on the next flight while we were still on the inbound flight. The pilot informed us about this before reaching to London. This gave was an extra 2 hours for the connection. But , I think as long as the inbound flight is on time, you will be able make the connection.

Hi,Firstly let me say dont worry,It will be fine.There was plenty of staff about to help and also loads of people have to do this change so nobody will see you struggle.If i remember correctly there are 2 set of stairs but both had lifts,Then you go onto the bus as in the video where again there are staff members.When you arrive at T3 there is a lift upto the area you need to be at and again all is sign posted but i would think you will see a member of the Emirates flight team around to help you and they may even be at T5 as well.I really do think all will be fine.How much time do you have between flights? What happens when you fly back from Vegas to Heathrow but you got a connecting flight to Manchester do you go through immigration then follow the purple signs to the bus and what about your cases do pick them up in Manchester ?

I’m trying to remember what we did. I think we did exactly the same in reverse. If you fly with BA or same company on both flights then checked bags will be at final destination 👍

Thanks mate I might have to take this way as now Thomas cook no longer I think there's only virgin Atlantic direct flights to las Vegas and the crazy thing is its about £200 cheaper to catch a plane at Manchester fly down to Heathrow then fly to las Vegas makes no sense but true lol ... cheers

Just watch your video again you said once In T3 you go to British airways and get your passport n ticket do they not give you 2 boarding passes at Manchester or do you have to go to check in again and get another boarding pass ?

Did They Ask you for VISA ? someone tolled me you should have a British visa to get outside from terminal to another >

I am British so wouldn’t need one. But I think what you say isn’t true. You don’t need a visa for a country if you are in transit.

Hi, we fly into T5 on BA, arriving at 10.15am and leave T3 on AA, departing at 11.35am heading to LAX....so only 1hr 20mins. Im getting very nervous after reading some of the comments below (although in one I see you said it should take about 30mins). Also the LHR website says it is not enough time. Should I try and reschedule the first flight to arrive in T5 earlier? P.S. The departure from T3 is in business class so from what I have read, we can use the Fast Track security screening in T3.

I can only tell you my experience and that is I think you should be ok. But I had no delays got straight on the connecting bus and had to stand in no queues. If you encounter an issue in any of those areas then you may be pushing it. Hope that helps you. John.

So I called AA about it as the AA app on my iPhone kept popping up with "schedule change". Anyway its a good thing I called because the phone rep said it is now an invalid connection and we wouldn't have been allowed to check in. So the changed the first flight...now we get to LHR at 8.30am and have 3hrs :-) Thanks for your response.

If you get the transfer like we did (no queues and straight on bus) then you should be fine. Only close if the plane suffers any delay. Hope this helps you and you have a great holiday. John.
