Beware of Romany pickpockets at Grand Arenas. They know this is where a lot of tourists buy their tickets. Team of 3 tried to get my wallet last night but luckily I caught them in the act and stopped them. The depressing thing was that none of the locals did anything to intervene and simply looked down at their phones as though they accept this is the norm. So be aware at all times.

I am arriving on Sunday evening. My flight is scheduled to arrive at 20:00 hours so it won't be too late. I will be alone so I can't bothered to take the money saving option and get off once boarded. I will gladly pay the 10 euros to be safe from pickpockets. Can I pay in 2 euro coins?

I got on that tram trying to head to the airport, but accidentally got on the tram going in the opposite direction, which took me even further away from the airport. It said Nice airport on the front so I assumed it was the right one. I got off at the next stop and then got on the tram heading in the correct direction. haha - I imaginge if I had just stayed on the first tram, it would have just done a big loop and ended at the airport anyway.

that was an incredibly informative video for me as i am so stressed when i am arriving in Nice to when i pick up a key for apartment....its at night so we have limited time to meet up for the key and will rely on taxi for sure. does the taffiff of 32 plus 4 euros apply to going into the old town....and does uber arrive promptly or is it a bit of a wait....i know you have to meet them somewhere else ...i have heard the taxis rip you off, but if the tarriff is fixed we would be greatful of that...
@rivierago
@rivierago 3 месяца назад
Don’t stress! Nice is small for a big city, not as hectic as big capitals. People are laid back in general. We‘ve never taken a taxi ourselves, but we hear the drivers don’t always stick to the indicated fares… (please tell us if we’re doing you wrong, taxi drivers!). As for Uber or Bolt, that’s a smooth affair normally. But again, truthfully, we’re usually taking the car.

Would’ve been helpful to mention age requirements for smaller travellers. E.g. does a 6y.o. require a travel card etc. also curious why trams don’t introduce nfc so that you don’t have to travel a station from the airport just to buy a regular ticket… rip off at the airport for a family of 5. The video was helpful indeed, thank you!

From the airport, you can take the train (TER, regional train) from Nice Saint-Augustin train station (that’s 1 or 2 stops by tram from T1/T2, tram stop “grand arenas”), and from there it’s one stop (or 4 min) to the main train station in Nice, Gare Thiers.

Hi, well you take the tram for free to Grand Arenas, get off and buy a (return) ticket (it’s 1,70 one way, no matter how far you go) and swipe „La Carte“ when you get back on the tram for your second part of the journey. You can also get a ticket directly at the airport - but they charge you €10 for a return ticket (instead of 2x1,70 + €2 for La Carte), up to you : go for convenience or cheapest way possible

Thanks a lot for the informative video! Really appreciate that! Just one question regarding the app. Since my partner and I will take the return flight from another city than Nice, we prefer to use the app instead of the pink card to skip the reimbursement. Do you btw know if I can purchase tickets for both of us via the app? I could only choose single or return ticket in the app but couldn’t find the option to add more passenagers as you could for the pink card. Just want to double check with you in case I missed it 😊 And if it’s not possible to buy tickets for others in the app, do you have any tips on where we can reimburse the pink card in the city center? Thanks in advance!
@rivierago
@rivierago 3 месяца назад
Hey, not a 100% sure to be honest since we use the card not the app. I should think you could just load as many tickets as you need on your app and then swipe it 2 times if there’s 2 people travelling. On our phones, the app only shows in French, that’s why we didn’t bother exploring and explaining it since we thought most of you guys wouldn’t speak French… our bad… 🫣 (calls for a remake of the video, noted!)

Thank you for the vlog, Quick question, are there any baggage lock-ups in T1 or T2 and cost if any so we can keep out suitcases secure while we explore Nice. Also if I use the app on my android, do I still need the rechargable ticket and can I add my wife and kids on the e-ticket on my phone. Thanks again.
@rivierago
@rivierago 2 месяца назад
Hi! Sorry, it took us a moment… so there is a luggage storage possibility at T2 at Nice Airport (www.nice.aeroport.fr/en/services/pratical-services/service-centre#:~:text=At%20the%20Nice%20Airport%20Service,%2C%20rent%20childcare%20items%2C%20etc.), not sure about the cost; but there are other places within Nice that offer luggage storage, too (please google, sites are also available in English) And as for the ticket via android app: if the app works for you, you don’t need a rechargeable ticket! Android seems to work better than iPhone, but since we use the latter we weren’t able to check for ourselves. And it’s perfectly ok to buy/charge several tickets on your app and then use it for the entire family. Just make sure to „swipe“ (validate) it for each passenger

And YES, you can also get off at another station on that route and board again later with the same ticket. Sounds good!👌

Ah, got you! You’re right, within the TER trains there’s no machine to validate a ticket. You just need to be able to present the ticket when a person comes up to check tickets. And yes, that’s different for trams and buses where you actively need to swipe or show your ticket to the driver (bus).
