I graduated with an ME degree in December and have probably been applying to Haas for over six months at this point but never get anything but an automated rejection. CNC machining and machine tool design is my passion. I've rebuilt a VMC, interned in an aerospace machine shop, designed and machined a multitude of projects, and more but never get the chance to show my passion to a real person. I try to cram as much into my resume as possible to show that this is my dream job but I'm never given a chance. At this point I don't know what more I can do aside from showing up at their IMTS booth (please dont be canceled 🤞) in September and trying to find a recruiter there.

Joshua Wentworth If you’re 100% sure you want to work at Haas, write a killer cover letter, show up at the main office in CA and talk to someone in person. Or reach out to Mark, schedule a visit and then hit them with the letter and resume. A little effort can go a long way.

Do be enticed or captured, by a company name or even a type of industry. Just Look in your field and take what you can get and make a career at that specific work in that company. Settle down, buy a home across the street, get married and put it in cruse mode the rest of your life.

You have to find someone that works there and tell them what you told us. You pretty much just need a referral.

Well being in design for 33 plus years and mostly automotive we talk mils. it means millimeters but moving to the shop and buying a VF2SS in the garage I have been slammed for saying I am off a quarter mill, which means 0.25mm. I am the only one I know using MM default for my machine setup and all the parts I design and manufacture are millimeters. and ALY-TEK you are CORRECT!!!!

A mil is an old term for an imperial thou. Nowdays this term is used by the metric users to shorten the name milimeter

Mil, so mill thickness or MM? Here mill is slang for millimeter in Canada being everything is in the metric system

Mark actually addresses this in the video: 13:13

"4 mil" is short for 4 millimeter.

LOL, 4 mil is definitely not 4 millimeters! It's actually .1 mm. Point made!

@@PiersonWorkholding Perhaps that's an american thing? We (obviously I can't speak for everyone) in Australia is as my OP.

Circuit designers use ‘mil’ extensively for trace width, laminate thickness, clearance, pitch, etc. 1mil=0.001inch, basically a thou. So it is a lingo thing.
@MrDaniell1234
@MrDaniell1234 4 года назад
It was a stupid comment to start with from someone who should know better if its inch uses the inch lingo if its metric use metric lingo 1 mil is .001inch or .0254mm

Why would you want to work at haas...? They're just another manufacturer who likely pays minimum wage. If you can't afford a haas mill immediately then start with a tormach. After you've got some cash flow THEN buy a haas mill.
