Thank u soooo much for sharing this video.. I was able to get the S/N called a number the dealership gave me n they asked me for my info my Vin number and mileage n then gave me my code n BAM i got my radio back yey!!!! So thank u for this
To summarize, after getting the reset code from honda, I got an error at first because the car was on and running, BUT it needs to be in accessory position and then it will accept the code. Thanks for this video! Helped a lot!
Thanks a bunch!!! Your awesome!! I got the Serial Number so easy then I went to the Radio navigate Honda, put my S/N in along with VIN and instant success. Awesome!!! Just put code in radio and music again
No clue where my manual is rn but I know I have it but thanks for saving me the trouble of finding it. Just checked the glove box and saw the sticker on the side and figured that was what you were talking about and sure enough my radio is back in action
Thanks for the video. Really helpful. I had the same problem as you, but once I disconnected and reconnected the battery, it worked right away as soon as I put in the code.
Why don't you deal with reality the way it presents itself to you? It is a fact that people steal all sorts of shit, no matter what. In the mid 90s, I had my ca 10 year old Golf broken into and they ripped a cheap after-market radio/tape unit out... it happens. Thieves are not some sort of connoisseurs with refined taste, you know.
Wow... you must have a lot of internal dialogue going on in your head :) I can tell that because you call me a Honda apologist, that is very funny :) I have never said anything pro Honda in my long life (no hate, just solid disinterest), and I would never buy one... it is very unlikely that I will buy any Japanese car at all, because it so happens that we have a strong car industry here ourselves, and so it is easy for me to be 'patriotic' when it comes to buying cars... not sure what car Honda could offer me, because ideally, my next one will be an S500, pre-owned, but better than any Honda new or old can ever be as far as I'm concerned. Honda apologist :) Nice one, my dude.
Thanks for your help.i just did a reset radio code on my 2004 Honda Civic Si Hatchback.Radio Code Numbers were upper2100 lower 1809 Magic number is 26343 got me in . Best of luck Art
🙏thank you for this. Seriously great job. Straight to the point and 100% helpful. My local dealership got me my code in about 30 seconds. Just call the service department and they pull it up on their computer after you give em the 8 digit serial.
I was able to locate the radio code in the “service history” users manual! I received the error message when I entered the code, but I took the key out and put it in again and it worked the second time! Thank you for your help
Thanks for the tips! BTW, the reason the code entry didn't work the first few times is that the beep sound happens at the end of entering 5 digits. It means right after the beep sound you have to start entering the code from the first digit otherwise it would be out of sync.
Thank you !!!! I started to enter the code and as soon as the beep started, I started to enter the code again and it worked !!!!! Thank you so much for this information
Hey thanks for this vid. I'm going to go try this now. I have a 2005 I got brand new. Old but great car civics are. I had the c number written down from yrs of having to do this procedure. I lost the paper, and forgot what to do. Thx again. Such a pain driving around (for 6 months) without a radio.
Check your glove box for a sticker with the code. My 2009 CRV has one on the side of the box and my 2015 Civic has the code on the back of the glove box. You may have to squeeze the sides of the glove box to drop it down to find the sticker.
This may be the reason why your code didnt work initially: If you watch the video, you'll initially see a small "1" next to the word "COdE" and that number changes each time you press a digit. So there was already a digit (or several) entered, and I think the radio stores them even with the key off. If you would have simply started the correct code over after it had beeped at you, I think it would have worked correctly without having to reset by disconnecting the battery again.
I own two Hondas. There is an easier way. My 2009 CRV has the radio code on a sticker on the side of the glove box. My 2015 Civic has the radio code on a sticker on the back of the glove box. If you dont see the sticker, squeeze the sides of the glove box and drop it down and check the back side of the glove box.
The reason why you couldn't get it, was because you had entered a digit and it was expecting the rest of them. Unfortunately there's no reset button so you have to enter digits until it says "Error" then that's when you're able to start inputting the correct digits from the start. Thus activating your radio again. I literally just did it myself.
FreonTheFrozen Thank You so much for that extra bit of info. After I found my code I had the same problem entering it as he did, and your info made all the difference for me. I really appreciate it!
There's also much simpler way to do it. It works for most Honda radios. 1. Turn on your car. 2. Press and hold the "Tune select" button for at least 5 seconds. That's it, no need to enter the code. Radio would be back to normal. I did it on my 2014 Honda Pilot and it works fine. Background info: When the "Tune select" button was pressed and hold for about 5 seconds or longer, the radio sent a token/signal (we called it a handshake in techie world) to a receiving chip that checks if the radio was in the same vehicle or not. If the radio was in the same vehicle (not stolen and not installed in a different vehicle), the chip allowed the radio to function normally. The token was pre-programmed at the factory to the receiving chip with the code generated by the radio. Of course, if the radio was on a different vechicle it wouldn't work because the chip on the other vehcile had a different token programmed to the chip. It would get a mismatch, therefore it wouldn't allow the radio to continue operate normally.
If you open your glove box and check the side of it when open, it may have your radio code printed on a strip that's "taped" onto the side of the glove box. enter those numbers and save the hassle of figuring out your serial number and contacting the dealership. I have a 2003 Honda Accord Ex and it saved me some time after swapping out my battery.
Thank you so much for showing me how to reset the radio, I appreciate it more than you'll ever know!! I followed your detailed info to set the code, and combined with the comment from FreonTheFrozen (below) made it all possible, thank you both! All I would add is that I found my 5 digit radio code on a small white tag located on my driver's door pillar post, so I didn't have to retrieve the radio serial # or call the dealer like you did. This other guys video showed me what the tag looks like and where to find it on a Honda Civic, but in my case, I own an '05 Honda Accord EX so it was in a different location, but it still worked for me. I hope this bit of extra info can help someone else too and here's the link to the other guy's video, I hope you don't mind my posting it, because we're all here to help each other... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ecH90HkGKbc.html Thanks again!
shayneovids i thinl that what u got is the info you need when you go to the honda radio code site, you put that long number then they give u a simple code.
works like a charm on my Honda civic SI 2005. However the 1st 10 times it beeps and gives me error messages Had to wait for 1hr to reset it and punched in the code that I got from the dealer.BAM I got it from the 1st try.Again thank you very much.
Good info I have a 04 element But who would steal a stock radio ?? when there are so many superior aftermarket ones that a thief would take first if they were casing cars in a lot ??
I have a Acura TSX 06 w/ navigation and don’t have the radio code. I got the code from finding the serial number on the cd changer in the trunk. I put that serial number in the Acura website and got 2 rolls of numbers and assume one was for the navigation and the other for the radio. I also manage to call a dealership that checked over the phone and have me the same codes, but later learned the codes I got was only for the navigation. So, I had to wait 2 months until I could save money to fix my alternator, so I waited until last week to try those codes. The navigation started when I put the first 5 numbers. Then I tried with the radio and I couldn’t figure out how to put the b letter that was in the place of the last number (5th.). I tried about 3-4 times and it didn’t work and I put 1-6 in place of the letter b and now locked out. I can’t even do the press button 1 and 6 and the power button and locked out from putting in the code. I called the Acura support number and got a person and they told me that I still needed the radio code and different from the navigation code. I wasn’t in the car and tried the press 1 and 6 and radio power button to get the serial number and get the code. Well, since it didn’t work, I’m gonna call them back and get them to walk me through it. I also think I might need to disconnect the battery and reconnect to see if it’ll let me get the code and let me put in the code. The Acura support did mention that if I was locked out from putting the code, i need to wait something like an hour or 24 hours, but that didn’t work the next day. This is a pain in the butt and all this to get a radio code? And these pro Acura Honda folks are no real help. They should get more training and narrow down the possibilities. Meaning the first dealership person should of told me that you only have the navigation code and still need the radio code. Bc she didn’t, it cost me a lot of frustration and waste of time.
