We share some tips on How to get Insurance to Pay for Water Damage with a blueprint for trying to get your claim paid. However, trying to get the insurance company to pay for anything is never easy in today's world, especially in Florida.
When it comes to Water Damage the 2 main areas on concern on whether you will be in for a fight and/or will be paid some ridiculous lowball amount all depends on :
1) Your Initial Call when you file the claim
2) Whether the Leak was Sudden or Long Term
3) Your Plumber will also play a big role to get Insurance to Pay for Water Damage. You want to make sure your plumber documents things to help get your claim paid
This video will help guide you to a possible successful settlement of your claim. At that same time, there are certain times throughout the claim process where you just feel in your stomach that the claim is heading in the wrong direction. When that happens you should be getting the help of a good public adjuster.
If you need help with a water damage claim or have a question feel free to give me a call.

This is ridiculous. We need to change the laws so that the company that will benefit from the denial is NOT the one making the decision on the claim.

They hire a “neutral” person that is usually in bed with them. The best thing to do is to get your own inspector to fight their denial.

When I was younger, I used to think adults just thought "I'm in insurance" was a boring reply when asking about careers... At 40, filing my first claim, I fully understand the disdain. 😒

Yes, I had sudden water damage early last year. It decimated my house, 1.5 years later my house has been declared uninhabitable thanks to my insurance doing nothing so far. My insurance tried denying and delaying for the first 5 months. Then it was approved by the 4th adjuster. They ignored all estimates from contractors for a full year thus far. So now rot has begun forming where the abrupt water damage has been sitting on the floors and subfloors. They are now trying to use their own negligence against me. They went from delaying and denying; to defending and delaying post approval. They only gave an estimate for under the deductible initially when it was first approved. No public adjusters where I am, and they don't take 1.5 year old claims that are still open. I'm on adjuster #9 right now, and my 4th contractor, as the first 3 were ignored by insurance. Despite issuing warnings that the water damage would lead to rot on the floors and subfloors if they didn't rectify it expediently. I haven't been able to live in my own house for 1.5 years. This is so messed up it should be illegal... Most attorney's charge too much to get help or only want easy profit cases. The damage was catastrophic over $25,000.

Your videos just got me through my first claim/inspection. I think my only mistake was leaving the broken shut off valve/pipe where he could see it and he made a comment about it looking "overdue." Whatever the outcome, I went into it with much more confidence. In the future, if the damage is over $5k, I'll be hiring a PA from the start! Thank you SO much.

Thanks for the information. I am currently working with my insurance for a roof leak and based upon the guys attitude during our calls he's going to try to rip us off with our claim! 20+ years of paying my insurance and he's got a cocky attitude 😒 ridiculous, but your pointers help. I put an early date, bc it was a bad storm. And insurance (Allstate) approved the roof, so old and so much damage, but they didn’t cover the interior upper level ceilings and they were extensive, they used the fact that it couldn’t of happen that quick

I wish I would have watched this video a week ago. Insurance just denied my claim because they said it was long term leak. Is it too late? Any tips on appealing the denied claim?

I would have to know more but yes in most cases you can try to supplement facts and damages to have them reevaluate everything

@@theclaimsquadpublicadjusters I am in Los Angeles County. The leak is from an upstairs sink drain, and it runs down the wall behind the stove and kitchen cabinets. There is a small bit of mold build up.

Ok. I have a 72 year old roommate. His home. About 2 months ago I noticed the floors buckling in the bathroom and closet in the bedroom. He went under the house. No water. I told him SOMETHING caused it! He is 1000%stubborn. Does not listen to ANYTHING I say! Anyway, this morning I was in the laundry room and looked over at the water heater, as the room is semi dark, and had a crazy thought! What if it's that w.heater!? I flipped on the light, and low and behold, holy cow batman, it was dripping!!! I went and got him. Of coarse he was upset. So he calls them and tells them he noticed this morning the heater leaking, slowly ( I COULD HAVE KILLED HIM) and that the floors were buckled and needed someone! How do we win now!!!??? Ughhhh I know he was recorded. Him saying slow leak infuriated me! How do we turn this around please?? Thank you!!!

If you were so tired from working a lot of night shifts that you fell asleep in the bathtub with the bathtub running do you have any chance of getting the Insurance company to pay or are they say you were negligent make you pay out of pocket? I feel like this was an accident because I wasn't trying to be reckless and I did maintain my plumbing. They will probably cover my condo unit but not the condo unit below me and the unit below me is where most of the damage is. I don't know how I'm going to pay for the unit below me I don't have enough cash in my bank account for such a major repair. My HOA has a special clause that lets them off the hook.
@theclaimsquadpublicadjusters
More than likely they would hold you at fault and negligent for this situation unless you can show there was something wrong with the tub faucet and had it repaired.

I get where the Insurance wouldn't want to pay but if they don't pay the work won't get done as I said before I don't have enough cash to pay all the damages. Most people wouldn't have such a large amount of cash. I've heard that when you sue someone you can't collect more money than they have so I don't see the point in them suing me. I am wondering how this will be paid for.

What about if the damage wasn't from a broken pipe? Say shipping container used as storage of goods (household) furniture, rental container.
@theclaimsquadpublicadjusters
How would a storage container cause water damage or any other loss??
@theclaimsquadpublicadjusters
Are you saying the weight of the storage container? If so, it would be questionable if covered based on your policy. If you have a policy that doesn't specifically excludes a storage container for the loss then there could be a possibility you are covered. If the loss has to be from a covered peril, well, storage container weight isn't a covered peril.
@jeffcourtney8101
@jeffcourtney8101 Год назад
@The Claim Squad Public Adjusters No, we rented a shipping container to store our furniture and household items when we sold our home. We have used shipping containers before without any problem. But the container with our furniture either has roof leaking or is experiencing what is referred to as "container rain". It's something to do with the difference in humidity inside the container and the outside humidity. This is the only container that we've had this happen. We specifically told our insurance company that we were planning to use a shipping container for this when we purchased our policy.
@theclaimsquadpublicadjusters
@@jeffcourtney8101 hmmm never heard of container rain...I would check your policy for perils insured against. Did you have a policy in effect still? It will be interesting about selling home and storage of property. I'm going to lean that it's probably not covered. If your property was in a storage it wouldn't be covered more than likely unless there was a roof leak, water leak, fire, vandalism...in that storage unit. Where were you living?
@jeffcourtney8101
@jeffcourtney8101 Год назад
@The Claim Squad Public Adjusters Yes, the policy is still active. What does selling our home have to do with it? This is a renters insurance policy, not homeowners insurance. I will pull the policy to read about the perils covered.
