Hi there. For anybody that’s worried about their academics for JMU admissions, I ended high school a 3.329 unweighted GPA. My class rank was bottom 50% (my high school was incredibly competitive academically). I took 3 AP classes, no dual enrollment, and an ACT composite of 22 (I do horrible on multi hour standardized testing). I’m an out of state student that wants to study theatre. I was admitted and I attend JMU, you’re fine.
Julia Peterson I would say the best way to combat that is to apply for scholarships and fill out the fafsa, JMU doesn’t give to many scholarships to their out of state students though.
My daughter will arrive at JMU this coming fall (2023.) Your channel is quickly becoming our go to roadmap to figure this thing out. Thank you for taking the time to make all these videos. It helps both the parents and students.
I graduated with a BA in English from JMU in '85. I had similar academic and test scores at the time. I thought today's admission criteria would be more competitive? All 25 students from our Semester in London program remain in close contact after all these years. Everyone of us is doing challenging, creative and fulfilling work. While you are at JMU, learn to listen, think and write. Don't worry about your future career. Find what you love and the career will find you.
My daughter wants to go to JMU and she’s nervous that she isn’t smart enough for it. I’m going to make sure she watches this video to let her know that her grades and test scores aren’t that bad.
Okay, in all honesty my freshman year was the worst. I haven’t completed high school yet but I’m officially making it the worst. Not only was I completely lost due to the speed they were pushing the lessons through, my principal hated me so much that he tried to get me arrested for something I didn’t do. So, while I had to live with the fear of getting arrested AND the fear of failing, I had to deal with the stress of pushy teachers who flipped out on me for being a minute late due to getting a morning coffee.
teachers put pressure about your grades on you because that's part of the job . However, my high school guidance counselor said that she helped someone with a B average get into Yale a long time ago
I’m going to try and transfer to JMU and I have a 3.2 GPA in college as a freshman and have a 1090 GPA and do some extra things like ROTC program you think I could get in?
This video came at the perfect time thank you. I want to give you my stats and I want you to give me your honest thoughts on whether I will get accepted into JMU or not. Haha please be honest it wont offend me. SAT - I took it already but it was a bad score due to me not studying at all. I plan on taking it again soon and I'll aim got a 1100+. If I dont get the 1100 or more I wont send in the SAT. GPA- I have a 3.68 weighted GPA. Classes - My biggest flaws in that I only have taken 1 AP class that I got a A in but that is my biggest regret for sure. I took all Honors tho. Keep in mind our class ranking is Regular, Honors, Ap, then DE. Clas Rank - not 100% but I believe I'm ranked low 100 in 480 or something. Possibly 108 in 485. Activities - I did Key Club junior and this year currently. Again, please be truthful and give me your honest opinion on whether I will get in or not lol.
I have a 2.34. I cant take my SAT because it keeps getting canceled, butt i did take a few dual enrollment classes one with jmu and one AP class. Do you think if i write a good personal statement i can get in?
Maddison Guest no, it’s very hard to get into uva with a 3.7. You have to have at least a 4.0 unweighted with AP classes. Uva is very competitive. This information is going off of friends who got into uva.
Try and focus on doing well in your senior year and get involved. Also apply to many schools. You can go to a community college and then transfer so that the school will consider your college grades instead of your high school gpa. You can also try scoring high on your SAT or ACT whichever you choose to take. I hope that this helps! 😊
I lowkey still want to go to jmu but Vcu is closer to my home and provided the same business and Marketing courses. But I think jmu is a little harder to get into. My gpa is sexy just my Sat is 🥴 it’s a 960. Ik you got good advice plz reply 😂😂👍I’m a junior btw.
