What degree do you think would be more appealing to a vet school? Animal science or biology? Also what classes would you personally recommend minoring in that would really stick out?
@yourvetamanda
@yourvetamanda 3 года назад
Honestly, I think either would prepare you really well! I personally took animal biology and I really enjoyed it but I would compare the classes each program offers and see which ones you will enjoy more! In terms of certain classes to take, I really enjoyed nutrition and if you have an opportunity to take an anatomy course I think that would be really helpful! Hopefully this helps 😊

Hey! I'm from India, in grade 12. I'm aspiring to be a vet and I'm really confused about certain things. I'm thinking of doing my bachelor's in veterinary science in India and then moving to Canada for DVM... Is that okay?? Can you please tell me if I need to do a pre vet program??

How do you continuously shadow a vet
@yourvetamanda
@yourvetamanda 3 года назад
You’ll just have to chat with the vet and see if you can arrange something! I talked with my vet and we decided I would come shadow every Saturday!

Is there a way to calculate the average of our marks before we apply? Great video btw :)
@yourvetamanda
@yourvetamanda 3 года назад
Yes! I calculated mine manually so I did something like this: (prereq mark 1 + prereq mark 2 + prereq mark 3 + prereq mark 4 + prereq mark 5 + prereq mark 6 + prereq mark 7 + prereq mark 8)/2 = prereq average and then (semester 1 average + semester 2 average)/2 = last 2 full time semesters average! Then you can add your prereq average and your semester average together, divide by 2 and you'll have your application average. Hope that helps :)
@Ray13201
@Ray13201 3 года назад
@@yourvetamanda thanks! Now are “marks” just the score of the grade earned on a gpa scale? For example, if a student got an A in a course would the mark for that course be a 4.0?
@yourvetamanda
@yourvetamanda 3 года назад
@@Ray13201 I’m actually not sure how the letter grading system/gpa’s works! At the university of Guelph we received our grades as a percentage (eg. 89%) and I believe that’s how ovc calculates the application marks!

@@yourvetamanda Thanks! I actually checked the site and the requirements are slightly different for US students. I was confused initially but now I understand. Thanks again!

Hey so I have a question how do you make money for food or any other financial cost while attending vet school do you have a side job or?
@yourvetamanda
@yourvetamanda 3 года назад
I don't work through the school year so I work over the summer and what I make in those four months I budget to last through the school year! Sometimes through the year I pick up side jobs every so often, but they don't make a ton of money 😊
