this is what i say usually, the kids in the west grow up watching star trek, star wars, doctor who etc and become great scientists and tech leader where we in pakistan grow up memorizing Quran, hadith, parayers etc and become Mullahs or pseudo scientist if someone manage to attend a pakistani university. besides going to moques and madrassas everyday sometime five time we were taught almost 50% islam in Schools instead of original literatue in Urdu, English, and islamic stories in social studies, even isslam now in science
You certainly can become the change you wish to see in the world, however I would also offer that there are a lot of children in Pakistan who are super interested in science fiction as well as science. Through my Visiting Scholar at BMSIS, Rabeea Rasheed, as well as a friend in science communication, Yumna Majeed, I've had the chance to talk to a number of students in Pakistan in online meetings where we've discussed topics of astrobiology, meditation, the Overview Effect, and more. They certainly have enthusiasm for learning more about science and being part of our global conversation about where we are in the cosmos!
