A tip: I would recommend just pouring the gel through a strainer into a bowl right after you finish making it on the stove. Then put the bowl into the fridge to get the gel to take its ultimate gel form.

Thanks for the tip! I actually tried to strain it first, to keep my hands clean, but the gel was too thick. I assume I will have to use more water next time for a looser consistency or remove it from the heat sooner, in order to use the strainer method. It's worth a try!

You’re really practically my hair twin! We nearly have the same pattern(s), density, and length! Even within the type 4 natural hair community I rarely see someone with hair so similar to mine. It’s because!

Welcome back loves! After making my own flaxseed gel on wash day this week I had to share the process with you because I loved it so much! This DIY is so much more affordable than anything you can buy in the store and super quick and easy to make. Have you ever made flaxseed gel before? If so, how did your hair respond to it??

I love this gel as a 4c natural. I do not spend on styling products anymore, not even a leave-in. just shea butter and flaxseed gel - i add aloe vera gel and some essential oils to mine, as well as boil it with rosemary

That sounds lovely!! Products can get costly. I have started mixing my pricey deep conditioners with my old fav but affordable conditioner (ex: Aussie) and that has been working really well! @@veronicahaney6005

Great video as usual, I really enjoy your videos and seeing you care for your beautiful hair. I make flax gel regularly but to eat because it’s so healthy and healing. I’ve used it in my hair too and agree it’s awesome, just a little work intensive for my taste right now. Thanks for sharing the close up of your curl patterns which I agree most of us black girls have multiple curl patterns on our head but I don’t agree about the No curl pattern description of the strands that are less loose. Those strands just have a tighter curl pattern and aren’t clumped so it’s harder to see the pattern but it’s not “no curl pattern”. I agree it’s easier for those strands to get and look fuzzy and take more work to clump and look more defined. My hair acts the same way but regularly using deep conditioners and film forming humectants helped all the different types of strands in my hair absorb and hold onto more moisture and clump and look more defined more easily and consistently.

Thank you so much! 💕Love that you incorporate flaxseed gel in your meals! And I agree with you- even our stubborn fuzzy pieces have a curl pattern. Would be nice if they’d all just behave and curl in the same way.

Oh yes I have tried this before with darker flaxseeds it works very well. I’m just too lazy but will definitely try again

Lol I understand that. I love how easy and affordable it is. Maybe next time you can make a large amount so you can use it again on your next wash day without having to make it again.

I’ve never come across someone who has the SAME hairstyle as me Why cursls are pretty much all s curls with varying sizes and shrinkage. This is why I keep my hair stretched otherwise my shorter s curls will start to tangle and create knots with the more elongated a curls. 😭 the first time I reached waist length was after understanding this about my hair

Hey boo! Yes, that is so true about our hair and curls- all varying lengths and this can cause tangles to form so easily. I plan on wearing my hair stretched more often as well!🤎

What method do you use to stretch your hair ?❤
@PatriceMarjorie
@PatriceMarjorie 10 месяцев назад
I braid my hair at night and that stretches it quite a bit. By day 7 (post wash day) my hair is stretched significantly more than on day 1. I will post a video showing the progression of my hair stretching through the week by braiding it at night🤎

Such a great video. When you do flat iron your hair, what flat iron do you use?
@PatriceMarjorie
@PatriceMarjorie 10 месяцев назад
Thank you sis! I don't flat iron my hair often. The last time I flat ironed my hair was Jan 2022, in my straight hair video. I really need a new flat iron. When I get one I'll be sure to share it 💞

@@PatriceMarjorie Ok thanks so much for responding. I haven’t flat ironed in about 2 years but I’m thinking of straightening this holiday season and looking for a new iron, myself.😆

You're welcome love! Good for you for keeping the flat iron away for so long. I know how tempting it can get. Like you, I considered flat ironing mine for the holidays as well! I will do some looking around.@@kungfoopencileraser
