You’re my Lithops teacher 🙏🏻 I’ve watched many Lithops video but you’re encouraged me to do anything about Lithops and not too afraid of them death and your method works very well 🥰
I recently purchased some lithops on line. They came mailed and quite dry. I placed Themis there rocky soil. I water them very seldom. Also heard not to get any water on the lithos itself. I notice you spray yours well with water. Confused.
Lithops don't require frequent watering. I grow mine in a greenhouse where it's dry with good ventilation, so even when I water them, they dry out quickly. When growing them at home, watering too often can lead to overwatering, which can cause them to die. The watering method may differ depending on the environment. Don't feel confused. If you've recently purchased lithops, it's recommended to perform water therapy and repot them afterward to encourage root growth. Please refer to my video on water therapy experiments for more information.
Great video! I think they are very good! While the roots are starting to emerge, I leave the substrate slightly moist. When the new roots start to grow, at what point should I return to a normal watering regime? I live in Brazil and this happens once every 3 weeks on average. Thanks
Well, to be honest with you, I'm not different from normal watering when I get lithops roots. Water the soil when it dries, and water it sufficiently…! I hope my answer will help you. 😄🙏🙏
I'm sorry for the late response. In the video, the lithops were planted in a very small place, and the soil and roots were solidified into squares. The soil and roots were inseparable. In this case, there are two solutions. 1) plant them as they are 2) cut the old roots and get the new ones. I chose the latter.
I chose the latter because …I saw that even if the roots of the plants were not in bad condition, the old roots showed functional limitations…. especially in the case of these lithops…the roots were old and were not functioning well for a long time. 🤔😊

That's not true. I think I watered them once after drying the roots and after that … I watered them about every two weeks (when the soil is completely dry)
I was busy, so I left them in a small space, and the roots got old and didn't grow anymore… I changed my mind and decided to give them new roots for growth.
I found out that old roots don't function well. If the lithops gets new roots, it can get a new life, and the shorter the roots, the better it becomes.
