This is very very late lol 😂 but if anyone sees this it always does this with npcs. When you want to specify them with their name, it says “no target matches selector”. So here’s a solution: Go basically inside the npc and you don’t need a command block and just command “/tag @e[r=1] add (whatever you want i will do a random one) A” after that you can move away from them. It should say “added “A” to 2 entities.” After that, you command “/tag @s remove A” and instead of saying “@e[name=“ in the command block you say “@e[tag=]” After that: There is one more that doesn’t work on some platforms it might on yours but it didn’t on mine. If it won’t work bc of the “tp”, say “run tp” instead of just tp. Hope this helps!

You could tp the npc to a iron golem to it with invisiblity It also makes it walk around but it wont follow you or you could use dogs but then you have to attack the mobs before they attack it
