How to get Olympus Colour & Look / Best Camera Settings for Olympus OMD&PEN 

@ mobile madman - Hello There, Thanks a lot for your encouraging comment. You are absolutely right about the olympus menus. It takes a long time to remember where your settings are eventhough super control panel helps. I tried a lot to find a simple and useful olympus tutorial when i bought my omd. There are very good blogs about it but very few youtube videos. That's the reason why i thought of making one since a lot of people search youtube for tutorials. I am so glad it clicked. Cheers !!

Robin Wong's & Gary Ayton's blogs were super useful, I have written what i needed. but i still had to try it and make sure it works for me and to find some more useful things for easy shooting and editing. I totally agree with the difference that changing settings make. I always think that all camera companies make their default setting the best settings for getting the most out of their cameras. Atleast for Jpeg images that most people use it for. But that's not happening. Well, RU-vid tutorials and online blogs help. Ofcourse changing to good glass does help. But to know the best Jpeg settings in camera was a difficult task especially olympus has a long list of menus. Robin Wong's & Gary Ayton's blogs were super useful, but i still had to try it and make sure it works for me and to find some more useful things for easy shooting and editing. To be honest, i searched and experimented a lot to find the best settings for jpeg photos. I am from a DSLR background. I was so used to zoom in photos and crop heavily while editing. I was not happy with my MFT purchase in the beginning until i started using Olympus 25 & 45 primes and changed camera settings and started editing with olympus viewer. EM10 Mark2 is a nice little camera when paired with good lenses like Olympus 45 or 25 etc. Olympus Viewer is really slow but do help to preserve the olympus colour for sure. But if you are happy with straight out of camera photos, May be " Snapseed " from Appstore or Googleplay will be more than enough for cropping or basic adjustments i guess. Hi Jithesh, Still getting to grips with the various setting options. I was particularly interested with your comment that to get the best out of the Olympus colours you would use the 4:3 picture size setting. Given that the video mode and most other camcorders would use 16:9 by default, I would be pleased to hear whether a change to wide format would in your opinion be detrimental. The same question really applies to whether to use sRGB or Adobe RGB as the colour space. Regards, Michael K

@ Michael Kitchen - Hello Michael, Thanks for watching my video and commenting. Like i mentioned Olympus cameras are having 4:3 native aspect ratios since they have a micro four thirds sensor. My idea is to get the best out of this sensor for people who take photos for fun. That's why suggested super fine jpeg instead of raw. But it's okay to use different aspect ratios if you don't mind full resolution. Even i use a 3:2 aspect ratio on Olympus if i know that i will print them with 6x4 format. I haven't really thought of sRGB/Adobe RGB to be honest. Please correct me if i am wrong, But as far as i know it's the same difference between Raw & Jpeg with regards to easy editing, sharing and printing with sRGB files. All the Best Michael..

I boght my em10 mark 2 just a month ago. still not touched live composite and time lapse etc. All i wanted was to get the best jpeg image quality. I am happy with the image quality by using all the settings mentioned in the video and prime lenses like oly 25 & 45. There are minor issues though like focusing on moving subjects [slow/fast] ,Olympus file numbering system and printing six by four format. If you prefer small size and light weight and good enough image quality+advanced technology - micro four thirds are the best :) Keep Clicking..
