Great video Joe. Definitely going to try some of the methods. Everybody always talks about up-righting the cat. but getting back on in 20+ knots of wind is a different story. Especially when the boat turns away from the wind(for reasons...) and starts gathering some speed. If I'm tired and will not make it at the dolphin striker position anymore, I will quickly swim underneath the windward float and use the trapeze method. if the boat takes off, you will start skidding on the water and can use that to your advantage. So then put your leg onto the boat just in front of the rudder and hoist yourself in with minimal effort.

Great video. when I rent a cat in Spain the moorings are in 7 feet of water so have to use the trapeze to get on

Please keep the c2 vids coming. You should start using centre boards upwind and way more downhaul/Cunningham

Yes, I haven't been brave enough to put them down yet (we used to have a Wildcat) We've been cranking on the downhaul pretty hard. The top of the sail has been really falling off - i would have thought that is enough?

I’ve actually installed a second line to be used as my stepping line The stepping line actually floats so I’m not struggling to find it with my feet.

Good info Joe. Can you please do a video or somehow address if the sole person on the boat, looses their balance and falls off being separated from the boat. What advise do you have to remedy the situation? Please advise

If you fall off and you're on your own, unfortunately all that you can hope for is for the boat to capsize, for someone to spot you and pick you up or that you're still holding the mainsheet - another good reason to always be holding the mainsheet.

great videos as always joe! recently i capsized my tiger and the adventure that followed together with other adventures on other hobies from the last 28 years made me want to comment. i sail on lake Winnipeg south basin, a very volatile body of water where conditions can go from flat water to 5, 6' or even higher whitecap waves in only 10 or 5 minutes. i recommend never moving from the front between the hulls unless one person who can control the boat is already back on board. de sure to never get into a position where you cannot let go. on the tiger which has tall rounded and slippery bows getting the trapeze lline is the only way i can get back on i like your righting line step alot and will add a specific line for this purpose. my recent adventure took a dangerous turn when i decided to grab the jib sheets as you do in one method. unfortunately, this pulled the jib enough to turn the boat abit downwind and though both sails were uncleated the boat began sailing on a reach dragging us while we hung on to the dolphin striker at times unable to breathe and getting more exh=austed by the second. as i was accepting the realization that i was going to have to let the boat go it started to round up and slow a little. deciding this would be my only chance i got the trapeze and put my foot on the post of the dolphin striker and got on board. once i could control the boat my crew went to the back outside where the hull is lower and there is more to hold on to. these boats are an absolute ton of fun but we always remember nature is far stronger than we are!

Lol! You don't go to the gym? 🏋️‍♂️ 😂 I actually just came from there. I'm getting in shape so i can hop back on in 20knots! Woop woop!Good video! Using the rope to stand on was genius. Thats a good technique if your hands or arms are injured. In the mean time i will increase ab crunches and lat pulls, pumped to get fit! 😎

I was told never go towards the stern of the boat, that you risk it turning downwind and sailing away while you're trying to pull yourself onboard.

If you happen to be there it's not a bad option as the back is generally lower and you have control on the rudders - I wouldn't swim to the back if i was at the front.

@@JoyriderTV When I said I was told -- it was after I'd done it. I was telling the story to a fellow sailor when he said "and did you end up with your shorts around your ankles?" he knew exactly what happens... (and yes, they were).
