Have you been letting fear hold you back from starting your RU-vid channel? Are you going to slap that fear across the face and get it going NOW, fear be damned? Let me know in the comments!
If people are rude enough to be rude then they will never have anything good to say no matter how good you are. Totally agree will stating that we are our own worst critic.
I have so much to bring to a Y- T audience and after listening to your story of overcoming .I truly believe that I can do well with a chandler. Although my biggest fear is learning how it all works and getting with someone who is willing to help me "of course I'm willing to pay for there services. This is a dream of mind ,I know I have been ordained to help others of a wider audience than what I now help. I am awaken. Peace be to all❤ I am blessed with many great gifts from our great Universe .
I get excited about the idea or even writing goals down regarding my RU-vid, but for some reason, I cannot start. It’s not my work ethic, I’m not lazy. I will work hard in other areas, but when it comes to me, I have no time for myself. I really hope I can get over this and soon. Thanks so much for this video Rachel!
Thank you for this video Rachel. I just started posting videos on my channel that I created over a year ago and all of those fears you mentioned hunted me for a while, I am still fighting with most of them. But my "Why" is bigger than all of them so I will keep going. Thank you for this video, it helps a lot.
Thank you Rachel, for those inspiring words. I always feel good and motivated when I see that I am not the only person feeling scared about a thing, but the people whom I follow have walked the same path and now have become successful.
I find it soooooo helpful when I find out someone I've been following has experienced the same fears as me! I think we all just want to know that we're not the only ones shuddering in fear over a specific thing. It definitely helps alleviate that fear so we can just go and do it!
I want you to know that your this one video helped me in my darkest time, it gave me emotional support more than anyone in my family or relatives could ever do to me. i wrote your words in my diary. I am blessed with multiple different character funny voices that people are going to love. Whats stopping me is i am stuck with mean fake well to do family my whole life and they are keeping me as a helper plus nanny. They want me to care what everyone would think about me but i dont. By the way i am 29 years old man with no friends and nowhere to go. I lack resources and they dont let me go. Empty pockets they would ofcourse, i will use my phone as you said. My words will never be enough how thankfull i am of you.
Thanks so much for watching, Honora! I'm so happy to hear you're now motivated to start your channel! Which fear do you think was holding you back the most?
@@RachelHarrisonSund So many of them!!! I'm not comfortable with my voice and the way I sound, however I realize it's MY voice and I have to embrace it. I'm scared of the camera. I just taped a birthday greeting video (selfie style) and my eyes were constantly moving. I probably have to figure out where to place my phone so I'm looking directly at it and more natural. Accepting I will suck in the beginning helps as this encourages me to just do it and get that first video under my belt. I have a WHY. I will give myself this pep talk: I am delivering valuable information, I will focus on my message, I will be educating people, people tune into my channel to be informed so INFORM them!! I love your advice - you don't have to see the whole staircase, just the first step! Rachel, thank you for this video. This video spoke directly to me. I am super excited to become a youtuber.
Thank you. I have been debating about doing a RU-vid about making jewelry and a voice podcast (maybe even voice acting/voice over) but I was nervous about how I look, or sound, how often I would have to come up with content etc. It helps to hear from someone that I look at as a success say they had the same feelings and how to look at them/deal with them.
Hi Rachel, thank you so much for this video! I heavily resonated with everything you talked about and it inspired me immensely! I am excited to get started and I hope to learn and grow over time 😄
Thanks for your video and tell about your own experience at the beginning I do have an extra problem: perfectionism. I was watching your video and was thinking about all the details, like I will have to find a decent place, would have to record far away from my children (they are noisy), I would also have to make up, etc... I also do not like my voice, I am from Brasil and live in Peru, and I have an accent speaking Spanish (that I don´t like)
Great content Rachel. I would love to see a video of you suggesting a path to becoming a competent designer.. where to start, programs to use that will get you to be able to create our own art work. Free options and maybe if there are free programs that the skills needed are transferable to paid options. Thank you
I've thought of starting a RU-vid channel before, but I don't really know how to edit video or create thumbnails or any of that stuff. I bought a keyboard a few years ago because I've always wanted to learn piano and still haven't taken the time to sit down and start practicing. I think if I recorded myself learning and posted it, it'd hold me accountable to be diligent in studying it, but I wonder if anyone would be interested in watching someone learn piano? Lol. Maybe my channel wouldn't be successful, but if it helped me learn piano, that's all that would really matter to me. Thanks for the idea of using my laptop to record! People always say phone, phone, phone, but I'm doing good to unlock my cell phone; I haven't learned how to use it beyond making calls. I'm much more comfortable using a computer or laptop (what I watched this video on), so that seems a better choice for me. The thought just never crossed my mind! So thanks. :)
Great video, as always! And I just wanted to tell you that you're one of the most charismatic youtuber. I love your diction, and how you structure your content. Thank you!
I've been using Screenflow (Mac only) for screen capture, but I've heard Camtasia is great as well. I've also just used Quicktime, and that works great too.
Thank you so much for this video. Ive wanted to start a RU-vid channel for years...I've got the camera, the mic, the tripod and lighting...but not the courage. The only public video I put out got so much hate over my appearance - I've got a wonky nose and an asymmetrical face. It was totally crushing. I deleted the video asap and never tried again. I know there will be hate, but I never expected it so soon. Maybe I'll do it one day. I love making videos (all private).
I'm sorry to hear you had such a rough experience posting your first video publicly. Honestly, you have to wonder what's going on in people's heads. But I encourage you to try again, making a commitment to ignore the haters. You have value, and so does your content, so I encourage you to share that value with the world, haters be damned. Especially if making videos is something that you love; don't let the haters get in the way of that. They don't deserve that power.
The part about people leaving hateful or hurtful comments.... My brother's like that on my facebook. He's bloody embarrassing. Anybody wanna another brother... ?
Excellent, Rachel. I appreciate you so much. Have you taught -- or thought about teaching -- how to actually do the videos? How do you put those lovely colors and main points up on the screen? How do you put a thumbnail for another video on the screen and make it clickable? Or do you hire that stuff out? RU-vid used to have editing software but they discontinued it. So did Microsoft for those of us who work on PCs. Is there an editing software that you recommend? Thanks.
