How to get professional DSLR audio: The RØDE VideoMic Guide

In this comprehensive guide our video guy Alex takes you through the most important tips and tricks you need to get professional audio with a DSLR camera and a RØDE VideoMic. NOTE: Please watch with headphones or studio monitors!

Note: Audio is unprocessed (just some level matching). Video is shot with a Canon 550D (aka Rebel T2i) loaded with the excellent Magic Lantern software, which is highly recommended if you have a Canon camera which supports it, as it adds lots of great features for capturing clean audio on the camera, plus the ability to defeat auto gain compensation!

My Movo VXR10-Pro mic always sounds so static background when I use it, but everyone's sample clips on RU-vid seem to be great, this was the best guide to dslr audio recording for beginners, thanks so much!! :)

Excellent review. Im currently using a rode ntg2 with a pre amp but im tempted by the idea of being able to plug one of these videomics directly into my camera if i can still get good audio that way, thus being able to carry less with me.
