This is a tutorial on how to train for Pull-Ups World Record.
I hope none of you actually follow this workout (because then you'll set the World Record even higher for me, so I'll just give up altogether...) But if you do, brace yourself, you'll need some dedication!
This workout can be used to learn to do more pullups in general.

So what I do is, I do 5-6 days a week of max rep one arm one leg push ups and pull ups. Been 3, weeks, could do 28 pull ups, now I can do 36. Not bad really.

Can I mix this into a full body routine, not just training pull ups? I want to improve my general body weight strength not just improve at pull ups

This is highly specialised routine that they use to break *world records* in pull ups. You want general strength, why would you do a highly specialised program for just one moment??

@Pen Umbra Just do pull ups first thing in your routine or do gtg. Don't do this program and regular workouts at the same time. Doing 3 max efforts a day is not something you combine with a regular routine if you want long term results.

This method is pure gold for those who have to prepare for PT test of military etc. If you want to improve general strength you don’t have to do this method. It even would not be the most efficient way and will make you imbalanced in a long term.

When you are training like this (everyday, consistently) to increase your max pullups numbers, do you still train other parts of your body or do other exercises (pushups, for example)? Or you just focus exclusively on pullups during that time? Also, excellent idea to show the chart. It is nice to see there are oscillations but the general trend is up.

Hi Paul, I am following you for a long time. Really interesting video. My personal record is 15 pull ups, however I will try using these advices to reach at least 30 pull ups. Can i use the same strategy to increase my push up personal record? Currently, it is stuck at 45. Thanks!

Hey Paul, in one of your previous videos called "No increase in strength? No results?" you explained how to get stronger in therms of doing more repetitions, maximum amount of reps. What I am interested in is how to get stronger in therms of lifting more weight in one rep. Like training for a one-arm pull-up, I know the exercises you did, but how often should I do them, and how much of which exercise, when should I rest? Besides, I cant do a one-arm pull-up from a hanging position but I can when I jump up a little. And Iv been trying to do a perfect one-arm pull-up for more than half a year. Thanks.

to help you, there are lots of plant based foods with lots of protein. For instance, quinoa(grain that is a complete protein that has 4g of protein per serving, brown rice, whole grains, oat meal, legumes(beans), lentils, nuts and seeds. I myself am a meat eater but i try to include more plant protein and only eat meat 2 times a week. You can even grind flaxseed in your oatmeal i do it every morning and its easy and does not change the taste if oatmeal.

BIG shoutout to you man, appreciate you putting this video out, i'm curious what would you do if your goal was to be able to increase your amount of body weight squats, push ups, and pull ups all at the same time? would u just rotate this routine and do squats one day pull ups next, etc?

I think I've probably done 40 pullups straight, which isn't amazing. But I suppose it's better than nothing :)

I totally believe this is legit. In my experience, after 2 months of training with one max pull up every morning + with cardio, I reached 35 pull ups max. And yes this is true, some my record would go down, some days its higher. The difference with Paul's training recommendation is that 3 times a day. I believe if I follow this routine I can do much better. Thanks man!

You should incorporate 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, and 100 squats in addition to your cardio (which I hope is a 10km run).

Can you do this method with weighted pullups and dips? Im participating in a weighted pullups and dips tournament in March. But I cant seem to find and good workout methods or tips to increase your weighted max reps with 24kg for pullups and 32kg for dips. What's your view should I try this method and if I should, would it be overtraining to do 3 sets a day for both pullups and dips?. From a longtime subscriber.

I personally think that it would be better to do this workout with rest days in between because when you're training you are tearing down your muscles. On rest days thats when they repair and build more muscle fibres and become stronger. By not resting you would not gain as much progress as you would if you were resting.

Whats the difference between close grip and wide grip pull ups? Sorry i dont know much about this sort of thing.

+Hutchy Divine There isn't a lot, it just places your elbows in different positions, which usually causes them to target a different muscle group. Wide grip pull-ups generally puts your elbows in a position in which they tend to come down to touch the sides of your back as you pull your body up, causing you to train your upper-back. Close grip pull-ups would typically place your elbows in a position that causes them to be closer together, and as you pull your body up, they come to touch your chest. This would instead train your biceps. However, in both the wide grip and close grip pull-ups you can choose where your elbows go as you pull your body up, meaning you can effectively choose to train either your biceps or upper-back, no matter what style grip you use. Most people just find it easier to use wide grip for upper-back and close grip for biceps as each one places your elbows in such a way that is more suited for each muscle group. Hope this made sense, sorry if it is too wordy!

PAUL ! help ! I've been following this for 3 weeks now ; I improved from 10 ( perfect form ) to 17 the first 2 weeks, but I'm not gaining any more pull ups since 5 days! is it because I'm doing more than just one sets? Or because I'm doing other workout sessions and not taking rest days??.....

Hi Xristos! Well, to be honest, I completely forgot about this, and I didn't really have the time to do tests. What I know is that I can currently do 15 reps of regular pull ups (full range of motion, no swing, of course), and around 19 chin ups.

I lift weights 3 times per week, so would I be overtraining if I follow your training? I also incorporate weighted chin-ups as my main back exercise when lifting. Currently able to do 5x5 with 50lb for weighted chin-ups at a bodyweight of 112lb. I also do bodyweight chin-ups/pull-ups as warmups and finishers for my back. Should I drop weighted chin-ups and just incorporate your training?

5'4. Here's a FB video of me a few months back doing 3x6 at 110lbs. I've been lifting for around 9-10months now. Trying to gain weight so I can wrestle at a higher weight class.

It could be a sign of Dehydration I believe + warm up properly before working out.. it's been a year hopefully you figured it out :)

great video, but I'm still convinced you both are genetics freaks. Granted, your sister works her tail off. But there are "fitness" girls who train very seriously and struggle to do 5 pullups after several years training.

+Eric O If they train with me, I guarantee a minimum of 25 pull ups in 2 years EASILY, even if they can't do 1 currently. Considering their BMI is average.

+Eric O one thing to consider is some people are afraid of certain exercises, many very fit women I know never do pull ups because they believe they cant get better at that exercise and they do not want to waist their time, not only that but because there body is not used to it the exercise can be miserable for them and punishing.

50% of pull-ups in the morning, 50% of pull-ups during the day (100% so far....), and 50% during the evening... we are now at 150%. Literally not possible.
