Nice information! What did you use as a coil insulator when you converted to springs? I have a 06 with the air suspension that I want to convert. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed! We actually didn’t put anything. We couldn’t find a replacement and we thought it was going to be noticeable but honestly we’ve had 0 issues
For our lift we did a rear air bag delete and added old man emu progressive springs with the icon shocks for the rear. For the front we did King coilovers. Gave the rig a really smooth ride, only has some rubbing in the front due to the 35s under full flex. Ours is a 2005, so only had the rear air bags that were completely shot. As for removing the rear air suspension, we just used the button in the car to deflate them, detached it from the compressor and took them out. Our were having trouble inflating and holding air so we had to puncture one to release all the air. We had no plans of ever reinstalling them or selling them so we just punctured it. If you have any more questions about the lift or anything, feel free to reach out!
Hi do you have a video explaning the conversion process im having problem with the rear air suspension and want to make the conversion but havent found a video with the conversion process. I just need to now the electrical part
There should be no electrical issues. Just unplug your air suspension and install the coil springs. You could also unplug your air compressor and the little module that we showed in the video.
What conversion kit did you use for the rear when you went to coils? I'm having the toughest time trying to find out if I need a particular kit for conversion...or is the fitment on the frame the same as the Sequoias with traditional suspension.
We didn’t use a conversion kit and it worked out great. We have an 05. The fitment is the same with traditional suspension! Do you know what springs you want?
I want to go with the Old Man EMU 2862 I think it is. So you didn't need special insulators for the top and bottom of the springs? Also, what springs did you use? Oh btw, thanks for responding.
@@Tra1710 those are the ones we have too! It makes it a pretty smooth ride. We didn’t actually use the insulators at the top because we didn’t have them when we were installing the lift so we were just like let’s put the spring without it and see how it rides. It rides normal and you really can’t tell that they’re not there. And i don’t think they make any for the bottom of the spring.
@Overlanding World Gotcha! Thanks so much. You're right, I did just find a conversion kit with just the top insulators and built-in bump stops at 1stgen...for $399.
We have king coilovers in the front and old man emu springs in the back, they’re the 2862 i think. They’re the progressive ones. But we’re going to do a video on them soon because i think we’re going to swap them out. And icon shocks in the back! It’s a super smooth ride! 😊
