I get heat rash everyday, but it ALWAYS starts on the top of my feet, then slowly creeps its way and makes my whole body itch. I've tried anti-histamines, hydrocortisone cream, aloe vera etc. The only thing that works is cold showers and cold gel packs, it sucks, its like my body struggles to sweat at all
I literally just came in from taking my doggie for a very short walk and my forehead became red and itchy. I did a search for heat rash and up pops Dr Dray - just the remedy I needed.
I wear a wool uniform that's lined (like a men's suit jacket) mostly outside in Houston. I've found Monistat's Chafing Relief Powder Gel is fantastic at both preventing and relieving the heat rash I get almost daily. Great video, Dr. Dray!
I remember getting heat rash as a child. Very uncomfortable. I haven't gotten it as an adult but in case it ever rears its head, I'll know what to do. The only treatment I remember was getting doused with medicated powder. Lol! Thanks, Dr Dray. Happy Tuesday! Hope you have a blessed evening. 💙
Thank you Dr Dray - every summer this is an issue with us. The only relief we get is from sliding open the plane door at about 1500 ft and keep it open until exit. At 13K, the temp is really nice, but it's so brief . . . like falling into a pizza oven! Hey, congrats you're near 2M . . time to celebrate - come exit with us! Your fav AFFI, Allan
Happy Tuesday, Dr. Dray! This video is exactly what I need to know for dealing with heat rash. I'm also happy to know that fairly simple measures can bring relief. Thank you! In Southern Wyoming it's up to the 70s, but it is much hotter in the Sun.
You mentioned in another video a candle without much scent. You can put those leftovers coffee beans in there and get a cafe experience. Love your content.
Wow, the two things I deal with most here in the summers are heat rash and ticks. Your videos are perfectly timed. One question: if I want to cover my skin while working out in the heat and humidity which fabric is best? In a recent cycling video a woman recommended silk. First time I’ve ever heard that. TY!
You need high quality breathable fabrics. Cotton, linen,etc.. Anything of LOWER quality will only worsen your symptoms. Synthetic fabrics are the worst.
Dear Dr Dray, I look forward to your videos every day! So much great info. I have heat rash under the breast area. My dermatologist recommended using desitin every night. It helped to build back the skin but i feel like the skin in that area is not breathing as well as it should in that area. Any advice? Thanks so much!
Hey Dr. Dray ❤ Can you talk about pollution and smoke and what it does to our skin? With Canada’s current wildfires, the northern parts of north america are starting to fill up with smoke and bad air quality! Thanks 💕
Once I overdressed my toddler and she got the heat rash. I even didn't know such thing existed. But I figured it was from the heat, just didn't know how to help her. Very helpful information.
Thank you so much for making this! It’s an annual thing for me that I’ve suffered from since I was very young on my neck. It takes days and days to get better and I get it most during sleep in hot weather. Calamine lotion is my saviour as well as Penaten and Aveeno moisturizer.
Thank you!!! I am suffering right now, and was avoiding taking my prednisone due to side effects. Right now I have no choice but will follow your advice too.
I'm moving from KY to NC this summer and I know from experience that the humidity is going to mess with my skin. Lots of gentle emulsified clay masks are in my future...
I live in a humid, hot country. I always find a fan and especially air conditioner. I do everything I can to avoid heat rash. Obviously I immediately remove my clothing and switched on the fan full blast plus air conditioning at 24 degree Celsius. I will shower to remove the sweat and dry myself. Then use a cooling moisturizer on itchy areas. I have a prickly powder as well to reduce the sweaty areas. It really does help.
Thank you for this oh so helpful and needed info. At the time of writing this comment it is July (summer season) n it's very hot. However, I work outside delivering packages for 10 hours a day, 4 days a week and I need relief. The creases of my arms and it spreads around to my elbow and it itches. It itches bad, bad. Thank you for hearing me out and suggestions are welcomed and appreciated.
Greetings Dr Dray hope u r well n 🖐Hello Every1 n Happy Tuesday😀n what a Wonderful Vid…. thanks n This is Gonna b so Helpful🔥👍n Continued Blessings to All💜….
I work in a factory, it gets hot in there and is a good bit of walking up and down, i have lose underwear and Nike joggers, and i get this rash between my butt cheeks, is super annoying and uncomfortable., how could i fix that?
It was 91° here in E. Tn, Saturday! That's a little extreme here for this time of year. The only good thing was the humidity was only in the 30 percent range, thankfully! Thanks for this video, well timed. 💜
Can moisturizing cause heat rash? Especially on my legs and hands it seems like when I try to keep them moisturized and get even slightly warm I break out in itchy rashes in those areas. It’s made me afraid to use moisturizer. It doesn’t seem to matter what kind I use. Thank you for all the info you provide 🙂
Here in Puerto Rico temperature are over 92 F these days and sensation like 110 F it’s unbearable! Thanks for the tips because my neck is itching because of the heat.
Thank you for this video. Very helpful. I just returned from a great Caribbean vacation and returned with heat rash. Currently using calamine lotion and staying cool now that I am back home. Thanks.
Wearing skirts in hot weather takes more thought for those of us with thicker thighs - chub rub is a thing! It’s a friction rash from the thighs rubbing together, and it hurts. I wear thin bike shorts to prevent it.
Thanks for the tips. I'll try them out , I live in Trinidad it's in the Caribbean. I wear workout clothes a lot. Only when I started getting hot flashes . Then, I started getting heat rashes. And to make matters worse, I have very sensitive skin.
I get heat rash every time i backpack/hike with a day pack. Its inevitable with a sports bra on all day where you sweat all day. My chest, upper chest, and back mostly take a beating. It takes days to get rid of it just from 8hrs of hiking. I wish there was the perfect sports bra for this. I wear a long sleeve sun shirt too.
use calamine or hydrochlorine and antihistamine. and yes dont get sweaty for at least minimum of three weeks or so. in the meantime just constantly use steroid cream and consume antihistamine - a 30 years experienced Professor, Dermatologist and Pharmacist.
@@chicagosusieq8548Use aloe vera directly from the plant and tape it in place with the wet aloe part on the rash. Keep replacing throughout the day. This will heal it in a couple of days if you use it as soon as you have symptoms, if it’s really bad it may take a week. Both cases have happened to me and I’ve healed it with aloe vera.
What works for me is no cream or lotions where I usually get them, cotton light clothing, and most importantly , leave benzoyl peroxide acne body wash for about 10 minutes in the affected areas and then I take a shower 🧼
After giving birth to my son, I got what I initially thought was a heat rash. It started on my rear end, so I thought it was from the giant hospital pads, and weird bedding. It spread down to my knees and almost up to my arm pits… turns out it was a PUPPP (pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy) rash from my crazy hormones. It was the absolute worst until we got the correct diagnosis!
Went on vacation to Dentin Florida and it was 100 degrees. I was dripping sweat on my face doing walking etc. I really was diligent in wearing sunscreen and washing my skin but low and behold heat rash all over the sides of my face and neck (where I was dripping the most even with wiping it away frequently. This is such a nuisance and embarrassing 😳. Thank you for your advice !
So stay away from heavy scented body soap, No cologne or perfume. And try not to itch the area. Always take a cool shower if you can. And try to find a cream for Heat rash. I’ve try’d other creams for eczema I had no results.
Could you do a video on sun protection for 10-14 kids who are in outdoor sports specifically baseball/softball? I’m currently using Coppertone you mention videos ago and we love it! Our Target hasn’t carried the lip balm in years..
Hey people. I’ve found the solution. You need hydrocortisone cream and antifungal cream. Keep your pits clean by showering frequently and apply these creams twice a day
Is it possible that sea water aggravates my heat rash more? I’m not sure if it’s just a coincidence but I think in the past I have had more heat rash after beach days rather than pool days
Hi Dr. Dray, I have prickly heat on my face, and the CervaVe Moisturizing cream was too heavy for my face. Any other suggestions? I use to use the Aveeno Ultra Calm and it worked really well but Aveeno discontinued it :(
Happy Tuesday! Looking forward to this video, lots if useful information for the hot weather ahead. Dr. Dray, did you see that Supergoop now has makeup? Wearing the SPF lip color now. Very nice!
I have a heat rash on my right armpit. I got them from going to the gym and not changing my clothes after a hard workout. Its super itchy and it covers my armpit
I get like, heat hives if the shower is hot for too long, or if I get into a hot car. It's not a bunch of little red bumps, it just a few like, single hive bumps around my torso and back, mostly just red, but sometimes a little non-red bump. When I sweat from working out, I don't get this. So I dunno why my situation differs with that. UV that is too hot, or just a hot car without the UV situation, will make my skin feel like a little needle of poking me in random spots. Once I cool down a tad (even if still warm), it goes away and is fine. A couple of days! yea that sounds different for sure. My red patches go away in like 5 minutes, and if there's a bump, that will be gone in like an hour or something.
So what can I do if I CANNOT get out of the heat source until HOURS later? I’m a swim instructor at an indoor (& humid) swim school with heated pools that are typically heated to 85-90 degrees Fahrenheit. I work 5-8 hour shifts teaching back to back to back 20 min lessons. This means I have sometimes hours of consistent exposure to heated and chlorinated pool water. I have heat rashes of some sort around my underarms, forearms, and collarbone area. Every week. It’s maddening. But this is the only way I can keep myself financially afloat at the moment. I use CeraVe healing ointment about one hour prior to entering the water to create a barrier. When I’m done with work, I shower off immediately in cold water and apply Aloe Vera gel then CeraVe unscented moisturizer (the one you showed in this video). I cannot change what I’m wearing in the water. I have to wear the work chlorine resistant swimsuit. Please advise on this curveball situation if you can. I’ve been tolerating weekly heat rashes for months now and have only been able to minimize the patches of heat rashes that form every week by wearing cooling nylon arm sleeves over my work swimsuit & maintaining the skincare I’ve mentioned above. I use so many tubs of Palmer’s cocoa butter all over my body once I’m home as aftercare. Then my body quickly heals and is ready for next week’s onset of heat rashes 🥲👍 Please help Dr. Dray! 😭
So mainly this is targeted toward the population of people who are exercising, working out? What about people having to put in an 8 hour shift working outdoors in the heat? I'll read down through the comments to see if there are some people like that who offer ideas or products that truly are useful in that population. Anyone who wants to respond or chime in with products would be appreciated. Thanks and Jesus bless.
