I was trying to download some green screen memes from a website and it asked me to allow something to download them and then it kept giving me popups lke, "YOUR PC IS AT RISK PLEASE UPDATE YOUR SECURITY DRIVERS" and I would have a panic attack every time. But now thx to you, i dont live in fear when i use my pc :D

I just had this problem but I went to "View permissions and data stored across sites" and deleted the few websites that were popping up and now the notifications are gone. I also have don't allow on popups and redirects checked. Before I went to chrome I ran a scan on my pc after the notifications popped up and it said it was clear so I knew it wasn't a real virus.

Pretty good tutorial. I just got hit by an add. It's been telling me that I need to install an antivirus software, but found out it was an actual virus (and thankfully, didn't proceeded further with it). So it looks like I'm good.

@@aadyx3895 Its because, you went on an website and clicked 'allow'. That gives allowance for the hacker to put notifications and make you download a 'antivirus' which is the actual virus.

What happens when these settings are already set on your computer and and still getting those pop-up boxes? I keep getting things from like Norton and it blocks the middle of my screen and I can't remove it unless I click on it and act like I'm going to purchase it and then X out of it. It's a pain in the butt and it keeps happening especially with Norton

@@BigButch03 not really. They still keep popping up but I would simply keep clicking on the box as if I was going to order it then when the second thoughts pops up I X out of it. But yesterday I noticed a little area at the very very bottom of the box where it said I could stop seeing this or opt-out or something I forgot exactly what it said but I clicked on that and haven't seen the boxes anymore. So when the Norton box comes up quick on it like you are going to order it and then when the second box comes up look at the very very bottom it's almost like the last line in very small print didn't give me an option to stop seeing this. I hope it works for me and I hope it works for you good luck those things are so damn annoying

@@denisebenetti7267 I think my popups were a tiny bit different to your ones. I was getting virus pop up on bottom right hand corner of my pc and saying pc is infected. I tried loads of different things and nothing worked. I sorted it today tho just by installing avast antivirus and subscribing to that with a 60 day free trial. I cleaned everything up and I'm no longer getting the pop ups. Your problem seems that you maybe gad the push notifications on for something and so it was giving you popups but if you have now turned that off then perhaps the problem should be solved

Hi, I have followed your instructions. I get to the pop up and redirects bit. There is no block option. I clicked on ‘Don’t allow sites to send pop ups or use redirects’ Unfortunately the pop ups are still happening. I would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you!

So I had a similar issues, for me I turned off notifications because they were sending me those virus alerts via notifications. So make sure notifications for the sites that are doing it to you are turned off

I've tried just about all this and nothing is working, been having an obviously fake Mcafee popup for a week now and nothing makes it go away, not this video or countless others, I've tried editing the settings, changing permissions, removing software, even turning off notifications but nothing makes it go away. I am however seeing most videos are for chrome, which I use firefox, so i've tried all I could on both just to be safe. IDK what else to try anymore
