I thought for a second when you said that dandelions were edible you were just about to eat the yellow flower 🤣 My dad has the fiskars weed puller. Very handy piece of kit and definitely the organic way of dealing with weeds 👍
That weed puller is really good for "older" dandelions like dandelions which have had the possibility to grow for more than one year. But younger dandelions, growing less than a year, will die in the grass by picking dandelion leaves off 1-2 weeks. There have to be some other growing competitors, so picking leaves from dandelion, which grows in a garden plot, this method does not work. Only weed puller (or small shovel) picking dandelion off works in there. But in normal grass where there is lots of competition, it is a 100% guarantee that it works. Of course, u need to pull all leaves off. Leaving even part of a leaf, the dandelion will survive. Have done it for 6-7 years so far and no problem with dandelions. Of course, u will get new ones, because dandelion seeds travel huge distances during windy times. I have way more problems with plantain. But if that grows in infertile soil, I think I know what I need to do. But creeping buttercup I have managed to get it less by verticutting. It is not doing a 100% good job, but the situation is better.
Hi Robbie, You say that the weed puller doesn't pull out all of the root. The soil needs to be moist for this to work properly and you have to take things really slowly whilst pulling back on the tool whilst removing the weed. I've had great success on my lawns with this tool this year, but one other thing I've noticed is if those dandelions have been there for a while, then the root system my well need a good dose of weedkiller as those buried roots can be massive. I know I will have to revisit some in the future, but I am going to let them grow then use a selective weed killer on them to kill the roots. Thanks again for another super informative video. I have the same weed puller. It does work good for a while. Mine now slips just as it is about to grab the weed and pulls up nothing. I also don't like the clump of soil it pulls out. If you stop just before pulling the the clump out it loosens the soil up enough to easily pull the weed out then you just step on the spot to push the dirt back into the hole. I know the purpose of the tool is to keep you from bending down but I prefer to bend down vs filling all the holes.
Had my fiskers for a couple of years now, 1 of my kids pulls them out and another goes around with a mixture of top soil and grass seeds and fills the holes back in haha.
Ah, you heard me raving about the fiskers weed pulle then! Once you get used to it (literally 5minutes?) you realise just how fast and easy it is. Maybe doesn't get the entire taproot every time, but I've not noticed anything coming back in my lawn. Its literally faster than making up a tank of weedkiller and spraying it ime.
I get salt spray from the sea and I got lots of clover. I also have a bore hole and the water is very high in calcium as I’m not metered I can water as much as I like 😎 my lawns still green and actually thinking about it I don’t have many dandelions. I find best way to get rid of them is to dig out all you see on a daily basis for a few weeks then they are all gone for quite a while. 👍
I had one of those dandelion pullers, seemed to work okay but left a lot of root in the ground and didnt last more than 2 seasons. Now when i really go at my dandilions i use a water weeder, basically a long narrow tube with a trigger on my hose. The water drills down more than a foot and it also came with anextension....still have to fill holes but i guess it is watering, aerating and i usually pull out a long muddy taproot. Its not cheap though, about 80$ plus lots of time on the knees. Im also trying to add calcium but i guess that takes a long time to work
I have a massive of dandelion weeds in my garden all over my lawn and in the gravel they come through and the patio to I call my garden from hell it's so hard to keep them away which weed killer could get rid of them
These are good Robbie, I've had one for about 6months, but they're only any good for massive well established weeds, and they leave pretty big holes behind. I'm guessing the better time to deal with them is when they're small?
I stupidly mixed three part bottles of lawn weed killer that were all different makes and all said didn't kill the lawn well .. Mixed together I killed the hole lawn. Never mix like I did. It's taken all year to get the lawn almost back
Hi Robbie, I'm thinking of bringing my 18 year old lawn to the next level. I seem to have inherited quite a bit of weed grass over this time and long stalk grass. I'm getting a cylinder mower soon and a verticutter. Am I safer next season to kill off old lawn or just verticut and keep overseeding till I get there? Thanks in advance!!

@@Premier_lawns_official I guess there isn't anything to say as it's a truth. I just wish you shown people how to ACTUALLY use each one when they rip it up to store for when they needed such a thing. Some are even better for pain then morphine is plus it doesn't harm you. I understand your video, forgive my comment, ijust wish that others would understand that this is uneducating others for something that could otherwise save someone else's life.
