How To Get Serato DJ Pro & Serato Play Free (For Laptop-Only DJing) (1 of 3)

Great video! I have a quick question though. Unlike in your video, when I downloaded Serato for free it asked if I was using it with the controller or just the laptop. I picked the controller. I understand this shouldn’t work with a controller as you said but it gives me an option. I don’t have a controller yet but want to get one. Do you think the software could work still with a controller in this situation?

I'm in the same boat, except after downloading Serato Pro, I had a play and thought it would be better with a controller, so I bought a Hercules Dj Starlight. So now I'm going to be stick with the Lite version instead.

I understand that the discount code has expired, but it should still work if I *buy* the Play expansion, right? Unfortunately, they raised the price to $39, to which EU residents have to add another 19%, yuk! Even if it works, what will happen to this construct if connect a controller that hardware-unlocks a) Serato Pro, b) Serato Lite or c) alternate between both? AFAIK Play is the only expansion that works with both Pro and Lite, but I'm afraid you can't have both Pro & Lite on your computer at the same time (or can you?).

Yes you can just buy Play in that case, it's no problem to have Lite and Pro on your computer at the same time

Yes that's fine though if you haven't bought a license and are only using hardware unlock devices that could be your issue

No you can't, and you don't need Serato Pro, it'll work with Lite out of the box

Depends on the controller, if it's one that unlocks Serato that's fine if not it just won't work it's not going to deactivate anything

I was too late for this, since I had already gotten Play for free but saw this too late. I thought at the first watch of this, 'well, I don't need that license really though at least'. Now I get booked for a gig and I realise that my SL3 hardware doesn't count as a license of Serato DJ Pro to use on a Nexus setup. Argh. Wish I had got this, don't have the money to pay $200+ AUD for a DJ Pro license. Not really feeling like PAYING for a subscription just to play a gig that I won't probably get paid for, either..

In same boat. Money not really the issue. Its the issue of the nexus not doing anything the box doesnt do. If it had cue points maybe but 200 dollars just to plug in to the front not worth it

Serato Play has all the functionality of Pro without the hardware being plugged in, you wouldn't be getting it for free you'd be paying 29.99 :)
