How to Get Started with LONG EXPOSURE Photography

In this week’s episode, we discuss how to get started with long exposure photography. Perhaps the best part about long exposure photography is that you're able to create something that doesn't exist in real life as you cannot see the impact that long exposures has on moving objects with your naked eye. And, the best part is that you don't have to rely on post-processing wizardry in order to create this, it's all done in camera, which I think is super cool!
In this video, I discuss the three main types of filters used for long exposure landscape photography and how best to apply them. The three main filters are Circular Polarizers, Neutral Density filters, and Graduated Neutral Density filters, but before you go slapping filters on the end of your lenses, there's a few steps that need to be completed from a settings perspective beforehand. Once you have your composition set and camera settings dialed in, now you can begin adding filters to your lens and this is where the real fun begins. I enjoy experimenting with different shutter speeds searching for different effects especially when photographing long exposure seascape scenes or really any scene with moving water.

Getting started with long exposures may seem a bit intimidating at first, but once you begin you'll quickly realize that it's much easier than you originally had thought.

I am a 72 year old photographer....started when I was 9 years old. I got my first camera at 9 by collecting soda bottles from people's trash and trading them in for 2 cents a bottle until I had $5.20 to buy a Kodak 620 box camera. Then I would repeat the process to buy film and then again to get it developed. It was a slow process. Much of my photography is self taught from taking photos to color development before the current megapixel system. I have some equipment but no filters maybe you can help me before I die or get too old to go out and take photos. In any case I have enjoyed the photography process for many years and have seen tremendous change and I hope to be around to enjoy even more.

Almost the same story with me, 620 and 127 film TLR's and Box Cameras until I got my first SLR around 1973. Film developing is expensive so I mostly do digital but I still have my film cameras in case Godzilla blows out all the electronics with his EMP breath!

I wasn't interested in photography at all, and around 5 years ago i saw a a heavily discounted canon 1100d at the mall i work in, and thought: "why not, it's cheap and might make me look cool!". i wasn't taking any of it seriously at all :) but then i started to read about what you can do with an DSLR, learning more and more about composition, exposure and editing, and here I am now with photography being my main interest, chasing far off landscapes at the early hours of the day. It just shows you the true power that can change lives and alter destinies: great discounts!

Hey Mark, I’m a new landscape photographer and I do A LOT of time-lapses. I’ve been shooting just under 2 years. I just bought my second Sony camera. I now have the A7iii and the A7riii. Your video on bracketing has changed the way I shoot certain landscapes. All of your videos are so helpful but that one in particular was fantastic. I am a new photographer. I got my first DSLR 15 months ago so I could spend time with my dad. He has been taking pictures most of his life. Spending time with him is as great as I hoped. What I didn't expect is the passion I would have for photography itself. I started with a crop sensor entry level camera. I focused on buying the best lenses I could. This was great to get my understanding of many basics. In June of this year my dad and I went to the Grand Tetons on a workshop. The experts on the trip encouraged me to get a camera with more features to support my growth. I bought a Nikon D850. I changed out my lenses as well. I now have a 16-35 f4, a 24-70 f2.8, a 70-200 f2.8, a 200-500 f5.6 and a 105mm macro. This brings me to the real progress. I have been watching many RU-vidrs to learn skills to leverage the equipment. Many are motivational but the best are educational. This brings me to you. Your humble and conversational style has been extraordinary for my growth. I have spent the last 3 months really working on post processing in Lightroom. This is where you have quickly helped me change from taking pictures to taking photographs. I live in Washington state. My dad loves landscape photography and so do I. We both also go to the Oregon coast as much as possible. I have been working on long exposure around water with inexpensive filters. I love the pics but I know I need better filters. In closing I just want to let you know that your images and your channel have inspired and made it possible for me to do better. Keep up the wonderful content.

Hey Mark, first of all, I want to say that I really enjoy viewing your channel and the videos that you post. I'm currently attending school for a degree in professional photography, after 8 years in the US Navy and 21 years as a firefighter. 15 years ago, I started doing photography as a hobby, but 10 years ago is when I started taking it seriously. I've learned quite a bit and still am and I enjoy every bit of it. Watching your videos has helped me to understand more about how things work with my camera as far as settings (shutter speed, aperture, ISO) and focus (manual, automatic). Regardless of your topics, your down-to-earth approach is inviting and your videos are inspiring and easy to follow and understand when giving explanations about certain types of shots. I just want to say thank you for the videos and the knowledge that you spread and I look forward to viewing more of your inspiring content. :)

A couple of months ago I started using the 6 stop, 10 stop, a couple of Grad filters and a polarizer from LeeFilters. I'm absolutely in love with this type of photography. And you can use them not only for long exposures. But the grads and the polirizer really lower the amount spent on the PC post-procesing. Many things are accomplished in-camera which is absolutely cool.

As in a typical japanese family, photography has been in my live since ever. So more than a hobby, or profession is a style of life, a form of expression where unnumbered moments were registered. I came up to your channel on a pursuit of improving my skills and get the most of my (kind of beaten) Rebel T3. I'm a student who rather recently got into photography, due to the fact that my mom moved to the mountains and I saw all these amazing views that I wanted to capture. Hence I started to research and came across your channel, and I must say I like your style of video a lot when it comes to photography-tubers, it's calm, down to point, easy to understand and relaxing. Good job! I've researched filters recently since I shoot almost exclusively outside, and I really wanna catch those creeks with smooth water. Got any tips besides filters?

Photography has really grown to be. passion over the past few years. From action (mostly mountain biking) to wildlife, landscapes, to dreamy, long exposure sunrises/sunsets, I play around with a bit of everything. Being a photographer and living near the mountains means I have almost endless excuses to get away from everything and find peace and quiet while allowing the creative juices to flow.

I've been taking photographs for nearly 50 years now. I started with a Kodak Instamatic film camera which my dad brought home from work - someone had left it on a bus and never claimed it. After all this time I'm only just really beginning to understand the whole process of image-making. There's such a lot still to learn. When I started there was no RU-vid and no one to teach or give advice about how to do things so you just blundered along making expensive mistakes - developing and printing costs were massive in comparison to my pocket money pennies. I well remember the tears when a whole 12 exposure film came back with 12 totally black pictures that had taken a fortnight's planning and hard work to shoot. Digital makes experimenting and learning a whole lot easier. Thank you for your teaching and inspiration.

Today I combined a picture of the moon with a picture of the stars and I´m really happy with the result, it is simple but knowing that I´m happy with my first try I feel good about trying it again. I learn so much frome these videos and there are many awsome creators on youtube but I must say that I have become better mostly becuse of you and your talent to teach, at least I feel that you have that talent :) Keep up the good work!

I started doing photography in 2017 when my dad gave me his DSLR. It's a Nikon D3100 and it gets the job done. I find myself shooting mostly nature and landscapes and I love every second of it!

Mark, I've recently retired from an technical career in the auto industry, and I'm starting a new career in landscape photography, a hobby I had many years ago. I chuckled out loud at your comment about thinking the next long exposure will be better than the last...that's EXACTLY what's happened to me on so many occasions! I really like your observation that these photographs generate images that can never be seen 'live' in nature, which I think is why I enjoy taking long exposures so much. Hey 👋 Mark , I’m just entering the field of Landscape photography after being involved with Wedding and Portrait photography for many years part time;while working at Eastman Kodak as a Lab tech . I’m at the stage in my life that Landscape photography is what I want to be part of . I really enjoy 😊 your youtube videos . The way you presented the information regarding the art 🖼 of landscape . photography. My love of photography stared at 13 . My Brother gave a camera when we visited Niagara Falls . I set the camera on a wall ( had no tripod) overlooking the Falls at nighttime with color lights were shining on the American Falls from Canada 🇨🇦 side. When I saw the processed print, I was blown away at the results I captured on film . I have been in love 😍 with photography for one heck of a long time , almost 60 years now. End of story. I started photography 8 years ago. I started to capture places I visit. Over the course of time I actually take images of the places I visit so my friends can live vicariously through me as most of the places I have they will never be to go. So I do a lot of landscape / travel photography.

I am close to retirement. I use a micro 4/3 camera, nothing fancy, a Lumix GX9, as my main photography taking was (is) during travels, so cityscapes, some portraits, architecture etc. However, during the last couple of years I got drawn more and more into landscape type of photography. Then I started watching youtube videos about it and the more I watched the more I liked it. Then I came across your channel and started following you since your relatively early times. I liked your immediacy and simplicity of presentation of the various topics discussed. You are not the only photographer I follow, but one of my (very few) favorite ones. You have helped me improve my skills (to my eyes at least) and thank you for this. Recently, I got an interest in long exposure photography and other techniques such as focus stacking etc. (very nice video on it by the way - simple and effective). Your offer then comes in exactly the right time for me, as I would start saving for some filters! I would be only happy if I could own the quality of filters you offer, which otherwise would be totally out of my reach. As a 72 year old novice photographer, I am always trying to learn from pros as yourself. Your video on long exposure was excellent! I hope all of your videos are as precise and easy to follow as this particular vieo. I have always been interested in photography but never really had the chance to really delve into the art. Now as a retiree I cannot get enough information into how to take specific photos like long exposure tecniques. As a visually impaired "photographer", I rely heavily on autofocus, butr I seem to get excellent results with the equipment I use; but editing and (even reading) is a challenge. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know I really enjoy your videos. Keep them coming!

The best feeling in landscape photography is getting out and enjoying your surroundings and the exploring! I love the sensation of searching for a composition. I started landscape photography a few years back when travelling in northern Spain. The landscapes just drew me in! Long exposures are surely an art form and they can really boost a scene. Whenever I am on location I look for at least 1 good long exposure with it being clouds, water, people etc. Anyway, great video Mark! keep up the good work.

Started my photography journey in 2013 with a iPhone 5 and took a trip to mammoth and started taking pictures of the mountains and lakes and been hooked on photography ever since, now I use a Fuji x-t3 and still shoot landscape and I take my camera everywhere from beaches to downtown Los Angeles.

Hello Mark, been a subscriber for quite some time. I've been an amateur photographer for most of my whole life, which is a 'long' time. I inherited my first camera back in the late 1950's, a Kodak Brownie 620 Camera. I was immediately hooked on photography. Got my first DSLR in 1969, a Minolta SRT 101, which I kept until 2017, when I passed it down to a family member that never experienced a film camera. I had never been able to pursue my true passion of photography until about 5 years ago when I retired. Nature & wildlife photography is what I mainly shoot. I do not have a filter kit which I would very much love to acquire. Whether I win or lose, I will continue to look forward to your informative, no nonsense RU-vid tutorials. You could call me a senior citizen photographer. Retired in my late sixties and became disabled. No problem, aside from having to give up golf and hiking. That's when my youngest daughter said she could remember when she was young that I always had a camera in my hand; the film kind. Got back into the hobby full throttle, purchased a Canon 80D, a new laptop for my Lr post processing, for which I then knew nothing. The laptop was Windows driven, ouch, hard to operate after all the Apple products I used in the past. Got it done though. Learned the basics of the camera, and now shoot in raw, and now starting to look at the filter system, especially for landscape, which we have here, where I live. I can get close to much of it because of having a four wheel pickup truck, and lots of forests around us. In short my ambition is to take the best pictures that I can learn to take. I put hours in every day watching videos, tutorials, and playing with my camera. Your videos have helped to supply me with one of my learning resources, as well as insightful tips. Thanks again for being there for me and all who are in need of good teachers. If you choose me, the filters will be put to use. I have the cheap screw on type now, and they haven't worked out the best for me. Was impressed with your video and the filter system. Looks much easier to employ while learning to use, and for the post finishing process. That's important to me.

I have some things I'd like to add to your video on this subject. The first one is about attacking filters. If it's a really bright sunny day or if you want to go for some really long exposure shots you can stack a 10 stop filter with either a 3 stop, 4 stop or even a 6 stop filter. It depends on what type of holder you have and how many slots it has. Second is the reverse grad filter. A graduated filter is better when the sun has already come up a little. A reverse grad it's better when the sun is right at the horizon or close to it. It has a hard edge in the middle and gradually fades away as it goes to the top of the filter. Just like your hard edge filter, you need a clean horizon line to use it. And last, make sure you cover the eyepiece on the viewfinder when doing long exposures because light can leak in through the viewfinder. Most cameras come with a slip on cover that's on the strap. You pop the rubber eyepiece off and slip the viewfinder cover on the same way you put the eyepiece back on.

Long exposure photography is probably the only style I have not yet given enough time to learn. I never invested in good filters and didn’t end up getting the results I had hoped for. But watching this video makes me want to get back out there and give it another try. Thanks for uploading and keep up the good work.

I got into photography around 6 years ago on a trip to Italy. I stumbled into an incredible (albeit, by accident) shot inside St. Peter's and have been trying to recreate that magic ever since. My photographic interests have evolved into landscape photography, almost exclusively (Sony A7rii). Living in an area that lacks a lot of unique natural features, I've had to become more creative in my technical/artistic approach. Long exposure photography is a technique that I'm attempting to implement with greater regularity. As I prepare for a shoot tomorrow evening, I was excited to see you address this topic in today's video. I have thoroughly enjoyed your videos, especially those dealing with the challenges associated with working regular hours and still trying to find time to build a portfolio. Hopefully, a better understanding of long exposures will allow for more impromptu sessions during short breaks in the work day. Many thanks, and keep pumping out the content!

First, thanks for RU-vid channel. I've been interested in photography for years as an amateur starting out in film. I'm now retired and can spend more time taking and processing photos thanks too the digital age. I find going out in nature and creating photos is not only a great way too spend the day but also very therapeutic. It soothes my soul.

I first began my photography journey probably sometime around 1990 when I was given a little disposable film camera. I don't think I have any of those photos anymore, and to be honest, they were probably all garbage, but it sparked something in me, and I've had a bit of a passion for it ever since, though it hasn't always been at the forefront. Having taken up guitar during my teen years I spent all my pocket money on musical equipment, so photography took a back seat until sometime around the mid 2000's when I was given an Olympus ~10MP digital point and shoot. I went crazy taking photos of anything and everything, and then my daughter came along and photography took a back seat again until a few years ago when a dear old friend who had just reignited their own passion for photography gave me an entry level fixed lens Pentax digital camera and reignited my passion for it, too. I've since upgraded a few times and recently started taking it a little more seriously, taking in as much info on the topic as I can, but also trying to put it in to practice as often as I can.

Hi Mark, I have been watching your RU-vid videos and I have learned so much from your tutorial. Thanks. However, I got into photography right after I had my 2 beautiful daughters in 2001. My first Nikon camera was the Nikon N75 with a 70-300mm Nikkor AF. I'm sure you already know that the Nikon N75 was a film inserted camera which was so great at the time for an entry level guy like me. I had so many shots of my two daughters and I never has a chance to do a selfie of myself or be in the photos. I came back into photography last year 2018 and finally realized my passion for Landscape/Seascape photography. Now I have a Nikon D850 and as you'll have noticed I am a great fan of Nikon products and their lenses. I have the Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8 wide lens which I am learning how to use efficiently. I found my DoF sweet spot according to your tutorial right around f/9 - f/11. Thank you for the info. I also have 2 other lenses, the Nikkor 70-200mm f/4 VR still learning how to use it and my camera came in a kit with the 55mm f/2.8 which is great and I barely use it with the exception of shooting products like beverage etc. I'll be attending NYFA 1-year Conservatory program starting next fall to better gain more photography techniques as I explore my full potential that can enrich my practice.

Hi Mark, I've been seriously doing photography for about a month. Before that I've always just shot pictures on my phone camera. Eventually the manual modes on my phone camera weren't enough and I spent about 6 months deciding on what to buy as a camera. Now, I shoot with the Canon Rebel T7i, and I've been loving it so far. I live on the edge of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, so nature/landscape photography has been a strong focus. I've always loved hiking and getting out into nature, and adding photography was an obvious next step. Videos like yours (as well as other content creators which talk about photography) have been the main inspiration for me pursuing this passion. Regardless of the giveaway, thank you so much for what you do, and helping me learn my craft just a little bit better every day!

I'm just starting out with photography myself. I find landscape photography is quickly becoming my zen moment. I really enjoy your videos and the knowledge you've shared. You are one of a couple of talented landscape photographers that really inspire me to keep growing my skills. And while I only have a simple A6000 with the two kit lenses so far, I really enjoy getting out and seeing the world when everyone else is asleep or at home enjoying their evenings and capturing those moments that really exemplifies the beauty of this world we live in. I guess I never knew what I was missing before that. Even though I live in a part of the country where I don't have the greatest scenes to shoot (no mountains, no beaches, no grand scenes to speak of), I think finding those rare gems, along with the information you share on your videos, really helps me develop a good eye for what makes a good shot and what does not. Thanks, Mark for sharing your videos, your knowledge, and your images. It gives complete novices, like me, something to strive for.

My biggest problem with long exposures has always been getting the focus just right. Your video on Focus for landscape photos finally showed me what I was doing wrong. Now I gotta pair that knowledge with a graduated ND filter to finally capture the images I have in my mind.

Been taking photos for more than 40 years, using rangefinder, SLR, digital, and mirrorless. First time I saw filters like this was when my father had a Conklin set on his Minolta SLR. There is less need for them now, with bracketing and stacking, but the ND and polarizing filter should still be in everyone’s bag. I am enjoying your videos.

I have been photographing since I was a kid having started with film. I am a semi-professional in the sense that some of my income comes via photography or photography related activities. When I shoot for myself its usually wildlife and landscapes. I used to own good filters in my film days, don't really own anything decent now and most of my long exposure shots now are therefore dusk or night shots. I love watching your videos as you make the viewer a co-passenger in your discovery of this genre.

Hey! I'm a biomedical engineer master student, and photography alongside music are my hobbies. I've been shooting for a couple of years now and found my self most comfortable in blending urban scenes at sunset with late blue hour, especially street lights and car trails. I do some long exposures as well with fountains and whatever water streams you can find in a city. Yes, as you can imagine lectures and studying don't actually go along with a lot of hiking and landscape photography, or at least as much as I would love to. I do have a very cheap 10 stop circular ND filter, which isn't great to be honest, but does the job fairly enough. Nowadays I don't believe an amateur level gear, as mine is, would stop anybody from getting good pictures, but an upgrade, especially a great one with a Nisi system, would be nice to have nonetheless. I started photography 8-10 years ago but never took it seriously. Earlier this summer (early June) I got fed up with my poor health and decided to become more active. I started taking my Nikon d610 with kit lens out and quickly became hooked. A few weeks later I came home from the camera store with a Nikon z6. I enjoy landscape and long exposure photography. I’ve been using a variable ND filter and would love to upgrade.

This is the something that I just begun investing. I have the NISI 6 system and I am slowly building my collections of filters. I really liked the step by step setup and the NISI app for a good starting point. Really do appreciate the video. Some of this was good confirmation of what I was doing on my own and much of it was some new stuff. Thank You. You asked why did i start photography. I had a couple strokes that resulted in early retirement. I had always enjoyed the idea of photography so I bought a Nikon D3200. I fell in love with it. God closed one door and opened another. Now I have a Z6 now and I love it. I need to sell my D700 and D7200 and that will happen but I learn something new every day and it is just a slow enjoyable pace.

Another great video mark. Loads of relevant info that’s helpful for new photographers like myself. A bit about me I’m a 100% disabled veteran who got into photography in Alaska as a way to help me get as active as possible and outside while reintegrating back into society after my injuries. Landscape photography has given me a new life and I’m thankful for it. I really enjoy being able to bring my friends and family my point of view from the places I get to experience. It has helped me slow down and appreciate how beautiful our world really is. I’ve tinkered with long exposures, but usually am limited to night long shots due to the lack of quality filters and education. I’m working on both though! Thanks again for your awesome uploads.

I'm a beginner photographer shooting landscape and still watching your videos to get some tips and tutorial to improve it. And I love doing long exposure shots, slowing down my shutter and enjoying it. I have some cheap filters but I can still shoot long exposure shots and that's my dream! the nisi filters and holder. I hope someday I have those filters

I've been away from photography for more than a decade but this year everything finally lined up. New camera arrived yesterday. Lens 1 was a week earlier. The astrophotography workshop is in two weeks and the trip to Badlands, Glacier, and Yellowstone is set for July 2020. You're videos have given me so many tips to use. Hi Mark, I was inspired to take up photography after my parents bought a T3i as a family camera and the praise form family and friends knowing they enjoyed the pictures i took was heart warming. At the end of the day photography is just a hobby but being able to capture moments of my life in the way I want and being able to look back at those photos and say "wow i took those" is truly irreplaceable. Photography for me has always been a lingering desire in the back of my brain. In middle school I got a few weeks of playing with film cameras, unfortunately, the budget ran out so none of the students got to see the final prints. Fast forward around 15 years, I started a job at a construction company that desperately needed more photographs of their ongoing jobs. I volunteered and with some of my graduation money went all-in on the Sony a7 iii. Needless to say, I fell head over heels in love with it all. As someone who tends to be shy landscape photography is therapeutic, and a nice change of pace from my job site photos. While my skills still need massive improvement, I have started seeing the creep of knowledge appear in my photos. Compositions are improving and overall I understand more of how my camera functions. Tutorials online have been my primary knowledge base, so thank you for all the videos!

I used to work on video games but fell in love with photography when I was editing my girlfriends modeling photos ( I have been using photoshop since 1997) I wanted to try my hand at taking my own images of her and I never looked back. : ) I can shoot anything but I have always been a nature lover and hiker and I live next to some of the most beautiful mountains in the United States so Landscape photography is my niche. I also have a simple method of mirroring my images in order to create fractal sacred geometry and faces hidden in my work. I Love taking long exposures of rivers. The texture and movement the water creates and how it moves the eye around the composition is my favorite. I am very excited to upgrade my equipment to Full Frame and use quality glass and filters. I have only used kit lenses and a polarizer for 6 years but feel I'm ready to make the investment. I can't wait to see the progression of my work once this happens! I live at the beach and love long exposure photography. I can spend lots of timing just trying to time the waves. Lots of fun. Also fun to try with filters long exposure at different times of day. Cloudy day, noon long exposure at the pier Is great!!

Hello Mark. First, I want you to know how much I love the straight forwardness of your videos without the silliness that others seem to think is important. I started taking my photography to a more serious level about 5 years ago. I have been shooting wildlife, mainly birds but want to branch out with more landscape. I have been using lightroom for the past 3 years and do fairly well but your videos are helping me with a better understanding of Lightroom and more of the features it offers. I am shooting with Nikon's D-750 and D-850. My lens include 400mm f2.8, 24-70 f2.8, and 70-200 f2.8. I also have a 16mm prime but have struggled with it alot. Your videos have spurred me to give it another shot and look at post edit options. I love to travel and I can't learn enough fast enough.....I am so hooked.....lol. I was a portrait photographer shooting with film cameras. I used the Cokin filter system without the holder since it let in too much light. I would just place the filter on top of the lens and shoot. It worked well until the filter became scratched. The square filters have come a long way with the Nisi system! Today, I am rediscovering my love of photography. I am planning to buy a mirrorless camera with a prime wide angle lens to photograph landscapes.

Hi Mark, I actually got into photography about 2 years ago after I became a father. I bought an 80D to take pictures with my daughter and after a while my wife told my I kind of have an eye for the photography. So I have started taking a lot of cityscapes. Now here I am after almost 2 years with a 5dm4 trying to make a living out of photography. I won't tell you why I would need those filters because I guess it's obvious, especially that soft GND that would feet a wide lens. Wonderful video and great ascension on youtube, you definitely deserve it. Good luck

I got in to photography about a month ago. Since then I have done two boudoir shoots, captured a great shot of lightning, and took my newborns photo for the world to see him for the first time. I am still learning and I don't know what my style is but I have plenty of time to figure it out. I currently have a canon sl2 with a kit lens and a zoom lenses that I bought used. This camera is amazing and has allowed me to show the world how I see it. Never in a million years did I think I would be good at anything like this. I just wish I picked it up while I was in Iraq and while I was in Afghanistan. Then I could have shown the world the beauty I was able to witness there.

Long exposure is my favorite type of photography to shoot, but the real reason I got into photography is my mother past away from cancer a year ago, she left me a little money 500$. So I wanted to do something that I love, but also what she loved. So what I'm really saying is I got into photography to carry on something that I know my mother would be so proud of. Hey Mark, just wanted to say I absolutely love your channel! Its great how you can cover so many important topics in such a intuitive and informative way. I always walk away from your videos with something new to think about! As for my photography, its a bit hard to put into words why I picked us up as a hobby but if I had to summarise it in some way I'll say that its down to 2 things. Initially I picked up photography because I loved the idea that it allowed me to capture moments in time to keep forever. The more photos I took however, I started becoming more interested in what the human mind sees as aesthetic or beautiful. This has pushed me to practice more, learn more about composition so that I am not just capturing moments but capturing them in a way that elicits a positive response or invokes a particular emotion. The fact that some of my photos can do that is just something that I find to be really cool, and it makes me glad that I picked this up as a hobby!

I started over 50 years ago it so easy to do great photos today than when I started taking pictures with my 120 roll film then to a canon 35mm then to canon F-1. Did a lot of black and white cheaper to developed yourself than getting them processed . Took photos had to wait to see what you got and it cost money more than today . I have so much fun taking photos today can take all I want and delete the ones I don't like . I love working with filters have to look into the ones you were using . Love to take pictures in morning and at night . What I like about taking pictures today is what you can learn on RU-vid trying new things . Thanks for the great tips on taking long exposures. The computer and color grading is so much fun.
