Fun fact. The animation the ring of light on the console plays was designed to sync with the original boot animation. Unfortunately over time as it was tweaked, the timing was ruined and newer consoles wouldn't play in sync, but if you have a Xenon or Zephyr revision console, the ring should pretty much sync with the animation. Super clever touch by the engineers and a feature I don't think many people know about.
Did the animation get tweaked with the Falcon and Jasper models? The original boot up was still there when they released, so it shouldn't have been tweaked, right?
The original model yeah I only ever owned a slim manufactured from summer 2010, my cousin gave me his white 2005 console when he bought an xbox one and no longer needed it, it red ringed 3 weeks later 😅
"There's no 360 softmod yet but maybe there will be one day" There would have been one already if that damn hypervisor wasn't such a pain in the ass to deal with
There would have been one already if Microsoft wouldn't update the console. The Wii hasn't been updated since the dawn of time, and that's why it has an easy softmod now.
I hope there will be a soft mod someday, since it's probably the biggest thing holding back the 360 modding scene. It just seems like there isn't much interest in finding one though.
Woo, old splash screen, old blades dashboard, and maybe soon someone will find out how to get the old guide button menu next. All the while not affecting more recent games! This is what Microsoft took from you, an aesthetically pleasing and functional dashboard. Xbox nowadays is like the gaming equivalent of The Caretaker's dementia music. So happy to see the Xbox 360 modding scene take off.
I think there are some slim models that actually shipped with nxe, but it was such a short period of time that it is pretty much as rare as finding an early jasper unit with blades (they shipped with blades for about 2 months)
Awesome. I've always hated the new boot animation since it got changed in 2010, it reminds of that awful Xbox era where they were making gaming a side thing and cared more about Netflix and sports. The old boot animation always reminds me of the golden era of the 360 back in 2005-2009. It's also just a much better made and fitting boot animation than the new one.
The entire Metro dashboard reminds me of when they were trying to push Kinect as the ‘future’ after success of the motion controls in Nintendo’s Wii, the real best advantage would be reverting back to the NXE dash
I've only experienced the 2010s stuff myself, but yeah it does seem like it used to be more interesting on older firmware versions. Alas, I won't get to experience any 2000s online games, since that looks to be the peak of games in general IMO
Thank you for sharing the journey you're taking with the consoles you mod! I personally wouldn't have brushed off my childhood 360 if it wasn't for the first video piquing my interest, so what you're doing is definitely an inspiring venture.
For a very short period, early slim units did actually come with NXE, but it was such a short period its a miracle to find one that someone knows its rarity or hunt through early boxed examples, it was more common on the Kinect update and most notibly the early metro of which i've come across a few, to find an NXE Slim is rarer than blades units, it sits with finding an Opus on blades/kinect update as they pretty much updated your consoles to a minimum of NXE within service.
I actually downgraded my Slim to NXE at one point (which you can do with an RGH since it bypasses the whole eFuse system). Also, tip for people reading this: If you have a Phat Xbox on an older dashboard, you CAN actually disable the eFuse circuit with some board modifications so that you can still downgrade.
I remember the first time I ever modded my 360 was when I found out you can change the boot animation. Now I live happily with my blue xbox 360 bootanim❤️
if you do this and then set the blades dash.xex from protostealth to start on boot in dashlaunch you can basically have a blades dashboard xbox with the old startup that can go online and play modern xbox live games
I agree that the original animation is superior and I don't have a particular "nostalgia" related factor to saying it. BTW I prefer also PS3's original boot logo but even more it's original boot sound. I have replaced those in my PS3. The updated one sound like a bland shortened version of the older one.
@@thespooner3906@Tistan01 no. MS put pretty bulletproof protection to prevent firmware downgrade, and even then, you would need a 1st gen xbox since not all models would be compatible with the firmwares that still had the Blades interface. Jx720 on Kodi is pretty cool tho if you want a similar interface on a media box.
Yeah. I installed the old animation a few years ago. I also got the blades dashboard mapped to X when I boot the console. Just for nostalgia purposes. It’s kind of useless now. But is fun to boot it on a slim
I don't mind it, but I feel like Microsoft could have done a better job tying it into the classic and newer aesthetics of the 360. The flying streamers of the post 2010 branding never really made any sense for the 360. The 360's branding was always about circles or rings and that was wiped out after 2009. I'll never understand that move.
NOTE: If you follow this guide and use FTP to replace the boot anim as demonstrated, your console’s ring of light animation will NOT be synced up with the boot animation. To get it to sync up, you need to edit the firmware within J-Runner.
i got it to work and is great, i always have seemed the new startup and i like it since the first time that i have saw it, but after i starter to watch console startup videos on internet, i have seemed this 2005 startup and liked more than the 2011 startup, and since i see the 2011 startup on my Xbox One retro, i thinked about putting the 2005 startup on my modded 360
as someone who was a ps3 user rather than xbox, (aka unbiased by nostalgia) I think the old one is nicer, both are nice but something about the old one is just comfier
The sentence "at this point the 360 is almost 20 years old" felt like being hit by a car and watching the driver drive away as I haemorrhage on the ground.
you can also copy over the old convection fonts over, just copy the old "xenonclatin.xtt, xenonclatin.xttp1, xenonjklatin.xtt, xenonjklation.xttp1" files to the flash in the same way, there is some issues such as some icons (small gamerscore and i think the microsoft points) not displaying properly
Good bless you my brother Thank you so much Life Saver ive been all over the internet looking for this cos i deleted my boot anim for a costome one its very hard to get it back I would love to bless you back a gift...
You can on PS1, because the SCEx and Playstation logos are actually polygonal models stored on the BIOS chip of the console. So it means you can change it however you want.
Man, this channel has what your main channel had when I subbed to it. Should I drop the sub to the main channel, and just go with the superior 2nd channel?
And now that i started up my own console and realizing that, even when signed in, I have some games I know for a fact I own on my account but are acting like I only have the demo of now, I _now_ have a valid reason to get mine modded. Problem is... such soldering is *way* above my skill and tools grade. Since nobody apparently _wants_ to make a soft-mod, what then should I do here?
I think you might be able to find some people willing to do the mod for you if you look around. I've never looked myself, I still just use an unmodified console, but I'd imagine you could have someone do it for you.
From reading countless forum posts, from different forums, I am convinced that we will never get a 360 softmod. The system is too locked down and the Hypervisor can't be tricked without physically modding the internals.
J-Runner with Extras has a "Kernel Version" tab which lets you do just that, and there's video tutorials on RU-vid for that, but I think some dashboard versions won't work on specific versions of RGH
Preferring 2005 Microsoft is an absolute mood. Vista was peak design (give 7 a Vista theme and it's peak Windows as a whole). I am hoping to get into soldering soon. Maybe then I'll risk my slim with the new RGH method - until then, GTA 4 hotswapping is as far as I go.
