So, when I walked into the shop it actually was for the sole purpose of seeing Kee and giving her some love because it had been too long since the last time we saw each other. I wasn't thinking that I would be so blessed as to get my hair done by her. To my surprise, she asked if I would do her a favor and let her use her new product, for gray, on my hair. Needless to say, my answer was a solid: YESSS! I tell you, the care and professionalism she and her staff exudes when caring for and styling your hair is 2nd to none! YES, I enjoyed that shampoo and steam treatment. When in Philly, go to Deeper Than Hair and treat yourself. It's soooo worth it! As for my gray, I have been covering it for so many years that I lost count. I wasn't ready for it. I loved my dark hair! But the pandemic kind of sorta forced my hand. Plus, I just got tired of putting the chemicals from the rinse (Kee never allowed me to use permanent color on my hair) in my body. As the rinse grew out and got shampooed out of my hair, it was like 3 colors! It was so annoying! I almost went back to covering it with the dark brown rinse. But so many people complemented me on the gray, so that was super encouraging for me. If I'm being honest, I still struggle with it today, from time to time. But, for the most part, I'm embracing this phase and showing my gray love.❤ Thank you all for all the kind comments. I appreciate you. And I hope this helps somone who is still struggling with embracing her beautiful head of gray. 💋 Thanks Kee!! ❤

“Gray hair is a crown of beauty when it is found in the way of righteousness “-Proverbs 16:31 This video couldn’t have come at a better time. I’m in a new chapter in my life. I’ve been contemplating going completely gray. I have friends and family who have beautiful silver strands. Mines, on the other hand, are ornery and sparse 😅 they just do what they want to do. I’m 8 months post-color, and the roots are rooting. But I’m going to take the plunge and see what happens 😊

8 months! You are in the home stretch. I grew my colored hair out and went gray about 5 years ago and never looked back. You will be so happy once the color is gone. Hang in there. The grow out phase is like that awkward adolescent phase. You just have to wait it out.

I colored my hair for years and then went through a rough financial time where I couldn't afford to color it. Ewww. Now it's mostly gray/white and I use a purple shampoo. I watched a RU-vid video from a woman who put the shampoo on dry hair, and left it for way longer than the instructions said; her hair went from light brown to almost platinum! That convinced me to try the purple stuff. I'm glad you have your "own" purple shampoo now, I hope to try it some day soon!

I'm embracing my gray and loving it Many years ago I saw a picture of a black woman in a magazine and she had a full head of gray hair, yet her face looked very young. i remembered thinking, "When I turn 50, I'm going to let my hair go gray." It wasn't scary to me at all. Well, 50 rolled around and I still wasn't ready to let go of the rinse that I was using. But Covid rolled in, and I couldn't go to my hair stylists for months and the gray rolled on in. But I realized, I didn't look bad with the gray hair. It was mostly in the front and framed my fave. Most of my friends said it looked almost like it was just highlights, so I rolled with it and have not looked back since. I only worry about it getting a yellowish tint which a few times it did but I was told because the heat of the iron was too high. I haven't had it happen in a long time. However, if it does I will look to the shampoo you suggested. Glad to know there are options and not just Shimmer Lights. i'm going for radio and music industry personality Dyana Williams' look Thanks for this video.

My hair is sliver, grey, and brown. Im 1yr 4months into my transition. My hair is long, so I want to wait another year before I wear my hair out . I do lover how my silver highlights it’s beautiful, but sometimes l miss my sandy copper brown hair. I had Grey strains at 14yrs old, I was plucking my hair by 18yrs old. I started dying my hair in my late 20’s. My copper highlights turned a bright silver, no color would last longer than 3 weeks. I decided to let my hair grow out , because I no longer liked dying my hair. I found my silver hair actually brightened my complexion. My husband loves my hair, he is now calling me his silver Fox.😊

Always a treat to have a professional give your hair a spa treatment. But...my hair started turning white in late 20s. After having it colored for about 15 years, my beautician convinced me that white hair can be beautiful on younger women. After some trial and effort I finally cut hair very short and allowed nature to take it's course. In mid 70s now with very white hair. When my husband still smoked, I had quite a bit of yellow discoloring my hair. Having horses, I began washing my hair with Mane N Tail shampoo used to clean urine tainted tails on horses. It worked like a champ. Stripped yellow out almost immediately and kept it out. My hair is fine and thin so I don't use the conditioner and wash my hair every 7 or 10 days. I've been using this shampoo for over 30 years and my hair is healthy and beautiful. Even if I do say so myself. Must be true as I receive compliments constantly.

I love my grey hair! It is mostly white/silver with salt/pepper in the back. I did go through a few false starts when I was younger and finally embraced it years ago in my late 40s. 👩‍🦳

Hello, will brushing with a paddle brush help with tender scalp. Usually 4 days after washing my hair my scalp gets tender (like today). 🙁 I went grey 5 years ago and I love it. I do get a bit of agism from people but I don’t care about it. I blow dry my hair once a week and don’t use curling irons, just the round brush on the blow dryer. I use a purple shampoo periodically and I’m careful not to use any hair products including shampoos/conditioners that are too much of one thing. I mix it up based on the needs of my hair. It’s the scalp that gets tender…

When I was young I never needed anyone other than my Mama and Daddy. However, I have 3 sisters older than me. I wanted to always "go with them" that first time. I got bored at the beauty salon. It took the whole day away from us. Side Note: As minister's daughters my Mama made sure we took care of our hair after we were old enough to say "I do not want to go to Ms. T at the salon to get my hair washed and pressed..." There were other stylists and clients in the salon with Ms. T., so when the 2nd to my oldest sister wanted to try a perm, Mama said okay as long as you know that means you are going to take extra, special care with your hair. Then my oldest sister went from pressed to permed, and then the third sister from pressed to permed. Me I having been trying to get out of the beauty parlor stuff my whole life. "A whole me..." I will wait and I have to stick with the pain I know until I started having interests in boys. But, that constantly chasing your greys away was something I said I would never do. At 64 & 1/2 years, I kept that. I did not hear what anyone said that was going to require I be in that beauty parlor/salon longer than getting my hair washed, permed, trimmed, and cut into a style I saw in the Jet magazine or Essence or Ebony magazines. Sometimes that Jet magazine had instructions for your stylist "to get the style and cut". It may have been Essence or Ebony so do not quote me on that Jet magazine. In 2019, I started preparing my hair for dreadlocks and that is what style I have now. I still have to go to the salon for a wash and conditioner until Covid-19. I always have the option of taking 4 hours to do my wash, treatment, conditioner, and deep conditioner Or go to the salon for wash, treatment, condition, and steamed deep conditioner in less than 2 hours.

Thank you for providing the purpose of steaming cause I've been wondering. I have high porosity so don't think I'll need it since everything soaks in... I sure wish I would have known you were looking for heads...you definitely could have done mine in about 15 min from the shop.

I found my first grey hair at 17. My hair was down past the middle of my back and it was grey root to tip so, it had been growing for a long time. I am 52 now and stopped coloring in August of 2018. I had hair to my shoulders and let it grow for about six months and did a big chop into a bob then kept up regular trims. It took about two years to get all the dyed hair out. I am white with thick, curly, naturally dry hair. It was even worse because of the coloring but I didn't realize that. Now my hair is soft and healthy and my curl shape is much better. Most of my grey is around my face so, one week after coloring I would get a halo of silver and I just couldn't do it any more.
