How to get to Fort Dawnguard (Easily) 

why does it have to be so difficult to find? i wandered around forever until i got pissed enough to come here. thank you. finally made it..

I haven't played in a while, and looking at the map, I was trying to get there from the Vigilant tower thingy, running up and down the mountain, driving myself insane, and that was after I got to the gateway/ end of the map that wouldn't let me closer, lol. You may have saved whatever traces of sanity I have left =P.

I just realized I looked at the entrance TWO times... I’m an idiot

This is my 4th playthrough, my most casual one and I've spent ages trying to get to the fort. Genius

YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE DAWNGUARD DLC... YOU CAN PURCHASE ALL 3 DLC'S FOR 10$ ON G2A AND ALSO IF U DO SO BEFORE THE 27TH OF OCTOBER YOU WILL RECIEVE THE SKYRIM REMASTERED EDITION FOR FREE, THAT IS IF U ARE ON PC!

Oh I just wanted the crossbow I didn't know it only came in the dlc

Thanks for the guide, helped me out a great deal 7 years later lol, I kept getting to that entrance where you get the message "There is nothing but wilderness beyond this point" or something like that, and you mentioned at the beginning of your video that the place marked on the map is wrong, all I had to do was backtrack a little and found the entrance, thanks again

Thanks bud, saved me alot of frustration and running around... I knew something was fishy with the "cannot go that way" BS. I actually took my nearest waypoint which was "Giants Grove" and was trying to see if there was a backdoor out of that place before just making the forest trek only to reach a dead pathway. +1 to the gamer gods for you :)

I spent at least a half hour trying to find it, and I had no idea the marker was wrong

For some reason my "Dawngaurd" quest disappeared about halfway through the civil war so I was so confused on how to get here lmao

Thx for this video, after 950 hours of Skyrim I finally thought to try out the DLC quests, (mostly due to modding and therefore starting new games over and over again and - of course - playing the dlc quests without "completing all" of main Skyrim wasn't an option for me ^^) just to be stopped at the border and standing there clueless.

For the fastest way open up console commands and type "tmm,1" and go to the very right of the map and fast travel to it

When i was making my way to the road the weirdest stuff happened so first a blood dragon attacked me when i killed the dragon a random citizen walked up n started talking to me then i just kept riding my horse forward then i saw 2 enemys fighting then out of no where 2 wolves came up to me but they didnt attack me so i just killed them n kept walking to the road

If it not there what to do Is go fast travel to riften, do the same steps, its not going to be there but what you have to do is walk forward a couple steps then walk back for a bit and it should be there, that's how I got it

there is crazy npc attacking near dawnguard entrance, i join dawnguard level 59 i loot dragonnscale armor from him

What is happening I turned to the left followed the road and it said I couldn’t go further even though I have the dawnguard dlc

Ik this is late but for everybody that has the dlc but can’t find it I save and quit re loaded and looked for it again and found it hope that’s helps someone

Do you know what? Thank you. I cannot express how exasperating finding this was!! I was attacked by countless trolls, saber cats, wolves, the list goes on. I decided to start fresh from the gates of Riften and follow your directions and here I am. Thank you for real!!!! PS, I only had to fight 2 wolves but my follower and horse took care of them 😊

I found it by looking for the exact knocked down stump past the bridge easiest way is to look for landmarks lol -compulsive observer

I have played this DLC at least once a year since it came out. Never have I had to look up the location because I was led to it easily by the game. Now it's not working and I have no memory of it whatsoever. Every single description offers NO help. I am beyond pissed that I have to watch this.

I'm playing through my first play through. Why would Bethesda not fix some of the glaring bugs? *I beat Fallout 4 (my first FO game). I didn't notice as many bugs compared to Skyrim.
