Hi! This is a tough one as they need to verify your identity. I'd suggest just sending your real name and real ID, along with all of your press links which should have your name (and potentially your photo) in them anyway. Best of luck! - C

@@Dracoh It's not about following, it's about your major press links. You'd need to submit press to prove notability, from publications along the lines of Time, Forbes, CNN, Rolling Stone etc. If you don't have any ID then I'm not sure that it'll work for you, unfortunately, that seems non-negotiable. - C

@@Dracoh Correct. Verification is about notability and it's an indication that this is the official account of this important individual or brand. So essentially you need to prove that what you do is significant enough to warrant verification. A good comparison is a Wikipedia page. If you or your brand is on Wiki, you'll likely qualify for IG verification. Hope that clears it up. - C

Hi! So you'd need 5 x major press links, so articles about yourself in major, globally-recognized publications. One digital newspaper wouldn't cut it, unfortunately. It doesn't hurt you to just apply and see how you go, you can apply once a month. Hope that helps - C

OK. Looks like it’s pretty much the same process as Facebook. However, we have been unable to get Facebook to verify our account. We have over 150,000 fans on our trademarked clothing brand. They used to only ask for articles of incorporation which we have always provided and they always said that they were unable to verify. We also provided a copy of our trademark that is on file with US PTO. I saw recently that they also asked for links and such so we provided those as well. We have found multiple pages on Facebook pretending to be us and using our profile photo. So it is imperative that we get a verified account with this number of fans that we have. Any idea what else we could do here? We have followed all of the steps and have a pretty substantial following on Facebook already. Not sure why they keep saying that they cannot verify our identity after providing the articles of incorporation and the trademark.

I found this: facebook.com/help/1288173394636262. So just like Instagram, Facebook requires the brand to be notable and uses things like a Wikipedia page and multiple organic major press pieces for proof. If there's an open field where you can provide links to fake accounts pretending to be you, that could be helpful to get this across the line. - C

Do you think it would be best to keep my old account and just rename that, or does the follower count not matter? I probably won't even try for verification for like 6-9 months to make sure that I build consistency, but I was just curious. Thank you

Pleasure! Definitely keep the old account if you grew an organic following. If you rebrand and change your name, however, all your major press and Wikipedia pages may not be useful for verification. Just make sure all your press etc is in the same business name. Thanks for watching! - C

Mine says this “Your account wasn’t verified because it’s fewer than 180 days old. You can submit another request in 30 days.” I haven’t gotten this one before I usually just get that I don’t meet criteria. So does this mean that I have finally met criteria and will be receiving verification badge when the 180 days is complete?

Hi, Thank you very much for the video! I would like to ask some questions. I could not find a clear answer to these anywhere so hopefully you can help? I'm trying to get my pet verified. It's a 3yo 100k followers account. 1) Full name - Should I put my personal legal name in this section? It's not quite clear how to be if it's a pet. Or possibly I need to put my pet kind of a "brand name" here? It's a little generic, so I'm a bit confused. 2) In case I put a brand name there what kind of document I need to use? 3) In the links section, I have a video on RU-vid by Netflix that features my pet on the video (movie trailer), but there is nowhere mentioned his name or account tag (it was not in the agreement) but the animal is clearly recognized on the video. Will this work or will not be accepted? Thank you for your time!

Hi Alexey, thanks for the kind words! To answer: 1. Yes, put your personal legal name. They want to know who the owner of the account is, and you'll need to submit your personal photo ID. 2. I wouldn't recommend using a brand name. 3. You can use that RU-vid link, but what they want to see is press from major publications, a Wikipedia page even and any other verified social links. Regarding links, do sources such as IMDb, official websites, Rotten Tomatoes, Movie Reviews help? Should Actors list their notability account category under "Entertainment" or another category? Are Driver's Licenses and Passports the strongest Document Types? My middle name is on both, but my stage name is just my first and last name without my middle name. I've explained that before, and I want to ensure what I am saying or describing is strong. Finally, for the Audience (Optional) section, is it ok to say that it's friends and fans that follow my account? Thanks again for your help. I am truly grateful.

From our understanding, you need to prove notability, not that you do a certain thing. They want to see 5 links to major, globally-recognized press, so just include those next time you apply. - C

We have about 30 articles mentioning us and numerous celebrities and influencers wearing our product, but how to link them if 5 links is maximum when filling in IG verification form? Hi Mariia, so you only need to submit 5, I'd suggest submitting the 5 biggest ones. They want to see globally-recognized publications (Forbes, CNN, Time etc) so avoid any small outlets and focus on the large ones. Good luck! - C

Hi! So yes you need photo ID, a driver's license or passport would suffice. As long as you have 5 links to major, globally recognized press pieces about you in publications like Forbes, CNN, Time etc, then you should be good to go :) - C

Hi Mike, have you worked with a publicist at all? They're able to generate some of the major press pieces they want to see, and they should be able to get you a Wikipedia page if you don't already have one. If you can submit other verified social profiles, that helps as well. - C

Hi, just apply under whichever category is the best fit. There's like an Entrepreneur category. It doesn't impact being accepted, they only care about your notability via your press pieces - C

There wouldn't be a higher chance to be verified with having music on the platform, no. You need to prove notability, so they want to see major press, Wikipedia and other verified social profiles. - C

Hi Celeste, oh that's fake, don't respond. I'm not sure how the scammers do it but I've heard of a few people getting caught out. Literally all you receive is just a notification, never an email and even if there is an email, it'll be generic and not someone's name. Be careful! - C

Since you're essentially trying to prove notability, if you submit new links every time then I can't see that being a problem.
