I have both of these plugins, and you can't beat FREE, so I will also look at some other Softube products......still unsure about the purpose and use of the Pentode and Triode knobs. Good PT to use the Output on the BB. I've been pushing the S-Tube plugin till the "light comes on" but have been finding that is too aggressive for the mostly country pop stuff I write and record, so I dont use any obvious distortion on vocals. Also works on BGV's. Also on Bass and Drums Bus, at least for me. I use other things for EG, like Toon Track's EZMix. Thanks.....good video.

Thanks Larry! I know what you mean about the Pentode/Triode. Sometimes it sounds like a fancier way of just saying “alters the sound” 😂 seems like one affects the low end more, while the other alters the high end. When all else fails, just play with them until you get a sound you like! That’s my policy 🤙🏼and definitely with the Softube. If I DONT want a noticeably distorted sound, I generally set the knob JUST shy of the light coming on and imparting distortion. You’ll still get a “lift” and increase in perceived loudness but without the nasty stuff (usually). All the best!

@@5piece I agree with you on the Saturation knob for Softube. I was turning it up to where the light comes on steady, but frankly, that's too much for the Genre's I write in, namely gospel/CCM and country pop....I go for a cleaner sound. And your phrase "perceived loudness" is correct....it does enhance a track, as I mostly use it on Vocal and BGV tracks, and it does get them to come out front a little more. But does not really change or add DB to the track....pretty darn cool! Softube did a nice job on this and simple settings. I also use the RM Pro in mastering, on the song insert area in Studio One's Project Page, its mastering module. THANKS!

How did you manage to get that mode on the Black Box HG 2MS? Instead of having bith MS or LR, you managed to have it as a single stereo mode so the GUI isnt so huge. Please and Thank you.

The are two versions of the plugin. One that can be used in mono and one that has M/S
