I like your explanation Goal: wider lats Muscle engaged: lats-this is how they move so we want to cater to that Exercises: here are the exercises Quick, to the point. I pray more people come to your channel. Subscribed.
I tried this for a month and started to develope the movement clean and it really played off 3 months later my back width is so much better now I'm so grateful for this incredible video.
I like this channel, I always like to learn new things and these are things that I never knew, it puts a new variety in my workout and I really feel these exercises thank you for the different workouts
I'm 48 I've been lifting since I was 14. The last two weeks have been the best workouts of my life. That's how long it's been since I've found this channel.
This guy is brilliant. Totally changed the way I do several of my workouts now. I always thought engaging secondary and tertiary muscle groups was just something you couldn't avoid when doing certain exercises but by switching things up a bit like this guy advised I'm able to primarily engage my primary muscle groups. Now, I can actually have a shoulders day after back day because I didn't bang them up so hard previously. Amazing.
@@CleanQuantize That it does. But I can't imagine what kind of intense back workout can bang your rear delts that much. The rear delts are a lagging muscle in most people for a reason. Besides, they're the smallest head of the deltoid. Even if you did hit them hard on your back day, it's all good. That means they don't need any more training so you can just focus on the medial and anterior heads.
nvmffs i totally agree. Any back exercise you do shouldn’t bang your real delts up at all, but it does use them more then pushing movements would, so it makes sense to hit them on back day imo. I use a push/pull/legs split though. It would make more sense to do them on shoulder day if you don’t do push/pull/legs
It's important to have people like you who doesn't stick to the script by only relying on being book smart. The fact that you looked at people with a bad form and got something useful out of it is a plus.
I really appreciate the no nonsense approach and the "you can do this" message in your videos. I agree with another commenter who said he doesn't understand why you don't have more subscribers.
My man👍 I've been working out consistently for over 25 years and thought I'd tried it all. Gave those first two exercises a shot(with light weight), but did the pull overs on a machine, and I can honestly say haven't felt my lats this engaged in several years. Appreciate ya, just got yourself a new subscriber.💪
Only discovered this page a week ago and I love it. i follow a few people but when they put up a video and its say 25 mins then I never click play. Love the short, to the point presentation. Anyone else find them selves saying "Let's get after it" in their daily life now, I know I do.
I subbed here thinking it'd be like a lot of my other fitness subs; mostly BS and I'd watch an upload here or there.......no. I find myself scrolling months back to catch what I've missed. This is fantastic advice and information. Thanks, man.
Coming back to check the exercises? I'll help you out: 2:06 - T-bar Lat Pulldown 4:00 - T-bar Machine Row 4:56 - Pullover If it's your first time, do yourself a favor and watch the whole thing for the important explanations 😉
I like the fact that you are directly to the point in about 5 mins. Other places would take 12-18 mins to tell the same thing. I can watch 3-4 of yours in the same time it would take to watch a single video from other sites and not nearly be as informative. A good thing.
Hi ryan this is the first time I write a comment. I'm not a sportman, or a personal trainer or a bodybuilder. I saw already some videos of yours and I make you many compliments for what you do in your channel. Helping the people to back in an excellent shape is a very good thing. For that I really appreciate you my friend and I think I will continue following your amazing channel. Your videos also help me bro because they push me to face and to fight bad things of life. So thank you very much ryan. Much respect for you buddy.😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪✌✌✌✌✌✌✌✌✌✌✌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
@@johnwig285 I know...but I prefer to actually just watch for info and advice, not to watch some douche flexing the entire time. Each to their own though
My body has been transforming, and I don't think I have 30 days doing your program. I don't mind paying for it; this is the best thing I've been doing for myself. You're fantastic, and I appreciate the fact that you push us to grow. I appreciate the fact that you talk like a man. Keep up the excellent information and keep being yourself 👍👍 your great.
Ryan By far gives the best advice out there, not in it for himself or to sell anything he's here to help others and that's how we all should be. Excellent
Stumbled across this channel and am liking the content, real, down-to-earth and for the 'common folks' be good to get a vid on nutrition for dummies as well
I've been using the Lat Pulldown the regular way for a while now. After doing these exercises shown in the video, I felt soreness in the entire lats. This has never happened before, no matter how perfect my form was, or how heavy I lifted. It finally feels like I've had an effective workout. Thanks so much!
I love your approaches to stuff. Totally different my man. I'm going to reprogram my routines and take a lot from you. I was big 2 years ago with monster numbers on most things but I got sick and was out of the gym for a whole year. Just recently started going back seriously and starting to feel good again. Thank you for your content. I'll let you know how it works.
Hey Ryan, I just wanted to share with you and everyone else how one little tip from this video changed so much for me. Over the years I have always struggled with any lat related exercises, I never seemed to be able to hit them and get them engaged, never seemed to be able to get a pump. I was always following so called proper form and arching my back etc and get t no where, after watching his video I was encouraged to think bollocks to form and just find the engagement. Starting with a bent over row I also arched over forward more cobra style and found that I could engage my lats, as I got better at it they have started to grow una way I have never had before. And now I can flex and twitch them at random. That one peace of advice gave me the confidence to explore the mind muscle connection, to find it and develop it. Just wanted to say thank you and encourage others to give it a go. This has also helped me explore the connection for other muscles too. Thank you 😊💪
Crap my back day was a day ago...now seeing this...but it's so true..I used to do a closer grip but then tried a wide grip one last time and yep I could feel the difference...excited to try your version and see how that goes. .
Your on to something with partial range of motion at a time. I have been working out with perfect form and everything totally controlled for long time now. I am as strong as most guys your size but never could "look the part" I think this and alot of your techniques will take me to next level . Thank you for unique perspective on working out !
Experiencial evidence is far more valuable for lifting than traditional scientific evidence. You're videos demonstrate this perfectly. No amount of randomised controlled trials will ever be able to draw sensible conclusions because there are simply far too many variables. Enjoying your vids mate, simple, to the point, no fads, just girth. 👌
Blaine 0001 yep, one of the biggest misconceptions in the fitness industry... if you want to feel your lats, outstretch your arm, make a fist, and press downward into a table, the muscle you feel is the lat
Excited to try this, this makes sense. I have really long arms and often feel my arms working a lot, this looks like it'll really hit the lats well Thanks!
Found this channel by accident and really appreciate that you keep your shirt on and not show boating the whole time. Real tips for real men 😁 thanks for your efforts dude
Tried these three. The seated cable row was magical in terms of engaging the lats. I could immediately feel the lats doing the work. It hurt the next day. The other two I could feel the lats doing the work but not as much. I think I need to master the movement before I see a ton of lat engagement with those two. Brilliant, Ryan. Thanks.
Why do I always find myself laughing out loud when I do one of his exercises? I think it’s because I am realising how effective his exercises are and how poorly and ineffective I have been training for so many years. I’m super happy to have found this guy and slightly embarrassed.
Thanks Ryan, you have the science of mind and muscle mastered. I've made some major gains following your training. Don't sleep people, this guy is preaching the truth.
Great advice. Although, aren’t all three exercises essentially the same movement? Do you recommend doing all of them in one day or cycle them for variety?
Sometimes, as he has talked about in other videos, partial ROM has its place with alot of exercises. It's all about the TUT. Partial ROM also, for alot of people, would eliminate unwated secondary muscle involvment I'd say 🤔
@@vincentcoffey695 you have to learn it the right way though, full range of motion, light weight and good form. If someone has bad form you don't tell them to do partials, tell them to lower the weight and focus on improving form
@@Matthiasschweizer yes agreed. I think his videos are aimed at people who know about good form who are just wanting variants of exercises for muscle isolation
@@vincentcoffey695 but this what hate about the video, newbs will watch the video and start doing partials all the time. If you've trained over 2 years you can switch things up and try new things but I think beginners should focus on full range of motion
4:02 this exercise felt absolutely amazing when I did it and because of it I actually love back day more than I already did and then my lats are sore for 2-3 days or more
2-3 days or *more* of pain/soreness so that your lats keep growing . . . all in the name of what? Vanity? Show-off time? It's so childish & everyone is so caught up in "looking" good - add some growth hormone or steroids & it sounds GREAT!
Ryan you are the guy i was looking for so long. Tired of those juiced freaks who talk shit for hours and claiming they are all natural athletes. Thank you so much for what you doing!
All of these movements are essentially latt pulover variations. Very good for creating that mind-muscle connection most beginners are missing. I've had many trainees who were simply unable to flex/flare their lat. Their mind could not isolate them. They've been pulling with their traps, rhomboids and biceps all the time... Good video.
I stumbled on Ryan after watching PT's blogs for years and getting more confused but this no BS approach is a breath of fresh air. Perhaps Ryan could set out two or three variations of exercises for each muscle group and put it into one programme. I would gladly pay for it.
I was searching so long, for the BARBELL pullover. And here it is. İ believe in pullover and much in barbell variation. And even when u work the lat pulldown machine, you do pullovers. It is what no one talk about! 2 years later i found this video but Thank you very much.
I was on a heavy rotation of some regular bigger fitness youtubers and I can really thank youtube for suggesting you! You can tell you must have a great following in person as well as online as you create textbook examples of what you are going to do, what you are going to feel, demo the exercise and adjust modify and explain what people will experience. Very easy decision- Subscribe.
First video of yours I have watched, can I just say how refreshing it is to have well presented and informative video that is right to the point with non of the other bs
Newbie lifter here (about 6 months of experience) ive definitely built my back "thickness" but im switching up my back training to focus on getting wider lats this video helped a ton thanks
I really believe in what this guy has been offering in his videos. Partial reps and unconventional rep forms really do have their place in optimising growth. Full ROM had always been my focus for curls, pushups, etc but ever since I started going with what I felt I connected with my muscle most, I just noticed nothing but tremendous mind muscle connection, activation, strength gains and ultimately growth. Full ROM is a nice concept but you also have to consider anthropometry and YOUR individual mechanical leverages and experiment with what you can FEEL the muscle most with. Don't get me wrong-- I do full ROM for pull ups and feel a better back activation that way rather than to do partial reps. Really, it's all about figuring out what works for you. This trainer is one of those few people who go beyond norm and actually take time to analyse and apply. Great work, man.
I’ve watched many different channels for building certain muscle groups and they’ve been ehh, okay. I started watching this channel about a week ago and am already seeing the difference! I’ve changed several things I’ve been doing and not getting the results I wanted until now! Keep up the great job!!
Good lord. I’ve always understood the arc being the best way to get Lat activation. Why have I never thought of these exercises ! Great stuff. Lats are pumped !!
Great video. Straight to the point. Sick of the 10-15 min videos of people who just love to hear their own voice, talking shit for most of their videos. Good work
Wonderful! I've been teaching the pulldown/pullover for years and...TADAH!!! People can actually feel their lats contract. Also, I cannot remember the last time I actually saw someone using the Bent-Arm Pullover in a commercial gym. Ridiculous. Keep up the great videos.
I love that he's bringing up some quality exercise technique that makes sense and isn't so cookie-cutter like everyone else that you see. Thanks a lot for your content, Ryan. Definitely seeing great improvement so far.
I've no idea why I've only just discovered your videos, but they're excellent. I was been trying a few of your exercises and I'm getting sore in muscles that haven't been this sore for years. Great work, very motivating!
