NetworkChuck thank you for sharing!! I have a question: In this moment I’m studying for the ccna 200-125 and I want to take it in the next 2 weeks and my question is: Are the same exam objectives maintained, because I know that everything will change after February?
@@alyfraga9923 CCNA will be 60-70% the same after Feb 2020. Some stuff is taken away, while some Security, Wireless and Automation topics are added. GOOD LUCK!
In 2019, will go for ccda and ccna sec. In 2020, Ccnp Enterprise for advanced routing and switching plus automation - python scripting And in parallel will go for MCSA servers Is it a good path ?
Thank you for your excellent vid, as always! Today I passed the CCNP 350-401 exam with a 895 score! The material and resources I found the most useful are, ExamHighPass CCNP 350-401 practice exam. I can confirm that it is valid for 2022. Most of their Q&A shows are at the actual exam.
I’ve had a CCNA and went to CCSP when they had it. All my stuff is expired and the exact reason I don’t get any more certifications is because I have to go back and get my CCNA. I’ve been a network engineer 15 years now so I really don’t need any certifications but I would like to get a CCNP at times but having to start over pretty much ruins it for me. This may help people in my situation but for newcomers I highly suggest getting the CCNA first.
Same here.. CCNA R&S cert'd at Cisco Live in San Diego 4yrs ago, failed the CCNP by skin of my teeth right before NA exp'd. Been in networking for 20+yrs and don't really need it so not re-certifying anymore. On top of that the exams are far too expensive anymore.
Trent McKee Trent McKee interesting. Sounds familiar. One thing that does interest me is the new CCNA stuff with programming and SDN or whatever. What do you think about that path and where things seem to be headed? I’ve been working in Azure and designed a pretty cool redundant VPN solution between or HQ and DR site and kinda playing with Python a little. Kind of interested in the API stuff but kinda lost on it all as a whole lol. What do you think about that side of things?
I did my ccna in 2013 I've been trying to get my ccnp my ccna expired but now I think all I need is the knowledge of the new one I wasn;'t able to do ccnp in since 2013 had some hard times but this is amazing now without a ccna I can do ccnp or just go straight for CCIE that is amazing I love it the only reason I can't go for ccie though unless a company pay for it. But this is nice I am going for the CCNP now since I am at home and studying since this covid situation gives me a chance to do it.
Totally in the same ball park for me. Had R&S CCNA for ages but now i`ll just read some notes on the changes on the CCNA but study and take the CCNP. Makes much more sense.
@@stephenparrott2932 You know what's funny? I said that but just ordered my new CCNA books that will be here tomorrow. The only reason is because the 2nd book has all the updated material leading into automation and all that stuff which I'd like to get a start on. Since the COR book for CCNP security is delayed apparently, figured go ahead and get the CCNA stuff. Company pays anyway.
Hmmm ok you have gotten me interested in taking Cisco exams :) doing cisco base projects for over 15 years so thank you Network Chuck ;) you are really enthusiastic 👍
After watching this I think that I am one of those that are very excited about it... I did the CCNA many years ago and was working towards recertification, but illness got in the way and I couldn't do it before the course changed, but now I'm thinking what a blessing because now I can look at the CCNP route and choose the flavour of professional that I want to be, what I'm interested in and that's so much more interesting than having to study something because that's what you have to do to get the qualification, I can be individual at the specialist level, but still have that core knowledge required... AWESOME!!!
I've been in Cisco networking since 2013. I need to get my CCNP finally! I've been doing NP and IE-level work for years already LOL. This video has been amazingly helpful. Thanks Chuck!
Thanks man, appreciate the info and answered a lot of the questions I had in my head. The fact that I don't have to go back and get my CCNA, which I let expire when I went to a mostly Juniper shop, makes me want to go back to working on the Cisco tracks along with continuing building my knowledge in general.
I absolutely love how passionate and enthusiastic you are for these technologies and topics. You inspire and invigorate me to build the mindset that it is possible. With hardwork, actual hard work it is all possible. With that being said i have to admit, I struggle with myself. Always feeling that i'll never be adequate enough. What i mean by that is, I get lost in a haze of the all encompassing world of these different technologies and certifications and paths to take... I'm ultimately hoping that the path im on now will lead to a job i love and can make a living from. It sometimes seems like just a pipe dream. But in the meantime, the present day I know that i just gotta stay focused. It all just seems so out of reach sometimes. i might've went a little deeper in this comment then i should have... but I thank you for your enthusiasm and passion; it helps so much.
Very great and informative video. Did CCNA a long time and i can't contemplate going over it again before doing CCNP. Now this is great news for me. I am diving right into it. Just printed out the exam topics for Automation. I am searching the topics through the net while i wait for the official study materials. Really chasing this one. Thanks a lot
Ohhhhhh....phat! I left a senior infrastructure delivery engineer position with an enterprise going to the cloud and pivoted to networking. I didn't want to write and debug code all day. Dang...well, counting down the 15 years to retirement. :)

Incredible video, big fan! I am starting studying for my first CCNA RS for August and then study for my CCNA Security. I would love to get CCNP before Febraury 2020 but I think it's going to be really hard to do that.
Which of the ccnp security concentrations is the easiest? 300-710 SNCF Securing Networks with Cisco Firepower Next Generation Firewall (SSNGFW) Securing Networks with Cisco Firepower Next-Generation IPS (SSFIPS) 300-715 SISE Implementing and Configuring Cisco Identity Services Engine (SISE) 300-720 SESA Securing Email with Cisco Email Security Appliance (SESA) 300-725 SWSA Securing the Web with Cisco Web Security Appliance (SWSA) 300-730 SVPN Implementing Secure Solutions with Virtual Private Networks (SVPN) 300-735 SAUTO Implementing Automation for Cisco Security Solutions (SAUI)
Hey Chuck! I just rewatched this video looking for some key info, and noticed you said you would go for the ENAUTO. I imagine with all the work in automation you have done, you might as well do it, if you haven't already. It would be cool seeing you get it now (after your CEH maybe?) Cheers!
I have a question for you. I have been out of the industry for 20 years (raising kids, blah blah). I recently decided to go back into networking. Should I wait until Feb 20, or should I try to get my CCENT now? I'm refreshing my memory with RU-vid and already know most of the stuff from 20 years ago. I know this is probably not a typical question, but I don't want to waste my money on a certification that will be useless, if I am just going to have to start over in two months.
Wait so i'm confused. This video kind of covers two topics. We went over how the exams will change in 2020, and why I should get my CCNP before the changes in 02/2020. My question is: If I start working for my CCNP now (07/12/2019), do I still need to have my CCNA first or can I just start my CCNP right now? Or is that option to skip the CCNA something that doesn't go into effect until 02/2020? I hope that question makes sense and that someone can clear that up for me. Thanks!
I think it's cool you can get a specialized certification without taking the core exam but I am not sure I understand the benefit? Isn't having the core exam the important part?
Thank you very much for the informative video. You answered all of the questions that were rolling inside my head on whether I can beat the February Deadline for the new courses and the career paths to choose
That's a great video. Thanks. I have watched it all. I re-certified CCNP R&S 1 week ago. So now I am ENARSI Certified ;) What about passing the CCDP 300-320 ARCH exam before February 23rd 2020? Will that be also converted to ENSLD or ENWLSD? What would you do? I have already the CCDA certification
Serious question! Is the microphone in front of you recording the audio or do you have a lavaliere mic hidden in your beard. Sound quality yells lavaliere mic.
Nice video. Nowadays it is so hard to study with lots of distractions around but whenever I see your videos and can see your enthusiasm in networking and certifications, I can get the same energy and inspire me to do the same ❤️
I'm in need of some direction. I'm currently working on CCENT and planning on knocking out my CCNA by the cutoff date 2/20. Should I just stop, and start studying for my CCNP(future goal)? Awesome videos and appreciate all the help and information!!
You just revealed the opportunity for people looking for an opportunity in the networking field similar to the opportunity we had back in late 90s in the networking. Thanks much
My CCNA is expired after that I passed CCNP switch and I am studying for CCNP-route before February. My question is do I have to renew My CCNA if I finished CCNP before Feb-2020 or since it's not prerequisite anymore they will send me certificate for CCNP?
When the new CCNP test came out (current version in 2019) I crushed all 3 of them. I moved up fast to the engineer level. Fast forward 3 years later with much design, config and install experience. I failed the Switch test to recert. I studied my a$$ off. Clearly I know more about route-switch now with my advanced experience in the field. Got a feeling it will be the case with the new test. Testing is one thing. Actually installing in live production environment, with a makes sense logical manor are two different things.
Strength is not made from success, when we go through hardships decide not to surrender, that is how strength is made. My failure only modivates me to over come.
Should be done with CCNP Collaboration by the end of the summer. Fingers crossed. I'm most looking forward to the new, "Automating Cisco Collaboration Solutions" exam in February. I've been boning up on my programming skills every since they announced it. Should be fun!
I had just started studying for the Route exam when I heard about the changes. Figured I might as well wait until new exams start. I don't think I can pass all 3 exams by Feb. Now with a change at work. We are switch from a 100% Cisco to 100% Meraki. I'm thinking of looking into their exams when they come out in the fall. After that then switch back to CCNP plans. Thanks for your video. Now I have a better understanding of the changes and why they were made.
Currently, I am doing a cyber security degree first year second semister and the university is making us do the ccna, I want to get into cyber security/pen tester I'm not sure whether not persue the security + for comptia.
Hi Chuck, im book on icnd1 this nov and im still going to get it (paid) . is it practical to get icnd2 before feb 2020? or il just save my money for the new exam pls advice thank you.
I just obtained my CCNP Collab last week, 2 days left before the old exams expired. Whew, After 15 years of doing Cisco and Cisco only my opinion of Cisco exams is that they suck, they are generally not relevant to the actual work, they have become waaaay over priced, going from 125.00 a test to 300 a test is just stupid ridiculous, Its has been almost impossible to pass these tests without study guides showing real questions. I hope the new exams get better but i highly doubt it. The people at Cisco just have no clue about what exams should actually cover and they don't really care. Now they have changed the re-cert process so that simply passing an exam isn't good enough, now we have to take cisco training in addition to an exam, Cisco is not doing us any favors at all....... I hold 3 CCNP certs currently so i have taken alot of exams....
Hey Chuck! I'm working on my CCNP actually. After that, I'll take a break then go for the automation track. Maybe after I'll dive into the Collaboration World. I'm always fascinated by those devices in the background. ^^ The video's length is good by the way. Keep on inspiring and motivate us.
Thank you for the feedback Yuri! I always worry about the video length...I sometimes drone on a bit. Collaboration is a fun one. I think I might know a guy who is producing training for those courses ;)
When you said the CCNP is greater than a 4-year degree, you are probably right about that! I studied for seven months everyday for my CCNA and finally took the exam last night. I think the CCNA is equivalent to a 4-year degree. If not, it is equivalent to a 2-year associates degree. The amount of material in that is amazing! I can't wait to see what the CCNP is like. Do you need to get practical experience as a Cisco engineer first before getting a CCNP? Or I can study for it right now?
I've been saying it for the last three years. If you don't know how to use automation tools like Ansiblel, YANG, Netmiko, etc and if you can't write decent Python then you're going to get left behind. I would say there's about 10 years left for you if you're not on board. The new exams are going to be a huge barrier to entry and a road block to a lot of people in the industry. People really need to stop ignoring automation and they need to embrace it.
Okay, Chuck! You're confusing me, bro! You said you don't need to take the CCNA, but later you said the CCNA has the core fundamentals to help you get your CCNP. But this channel says take your CCNP now. Help me out here, bro! It's September 1st and if you said getting my CCNP now before 2020 February, I want to utilize my time between now and then to maximize my time and resources. Ultimately, from a bird's eye view, it appears to be a huge money making opportunity for CISCO and many fly by night authors.
My whole cert strategy has changed with the Jun 2019 announcement. I did have a CCNA R&S, but it lapsed and wasn't looking forward to retake that in order to get CCNP. Now, I'm willing to wait it out for Feb 2020 to save money and be more motivated, although I'm currently hung up between CCNP and DEVASC. BTW, I'm very skilled in Python with a CS degree.
Good one! I have just confirmed I made the right the decision to keep myself studying to take the #CCNP certs before February 2020.... Cant wait to go for the others! so many paths to go through....
I haven't been able to find much stuff online yet for the 2020 CCNP Security in terms of exam prep. I did find an exam outline, do you know of any resources out yet?
Hey Chuck just wanted to say thank you!!! Got my ccent last week after using the study materials you suggested. Studied for 4 months did not feel ready quite ready for the exam but i had it scheduled, showed up and took it and now I have my ccent working on that ccna before it gets changed in February.
Chuck, I really need your help with the following question: I would like to get my CCNP Security after 24 Feb - 2020, but I would like to start right now taking one of the 4 current CCNP security because I was checking the migration tool and I would get 1 new specialist certification if I take one current CCNP Sec and that´s great. Now, I have a big doubt as I don't have the CCNA Security (I have CCNP R&S, CCNA Cyber Ops, and CCDA but not the CCNA Sec). Do I need to take the CCNA Security, or can I just take any of the current CCNP Security exams and without the CCNA Sec will the current CCNP security be validated after 24 Feb - 2020? Please help me with this. I don't know if I have to take the CCNA Sec or just jump into any CCNP Security exam. Btw your videos are awesome, Thank you!
Fantastic question. I had to go ask the Cisco Learning team on Twitter and I got the answer. You won't need the CCNA Security. As long as you pass one of those CCNP Security exams, you'll inherit the new specialist cert.
@@NetworkChuck Awesome man, you are the best, thank you so much. It's a lot easier to jump straight away to the CCNP, I already have the basics anyway so thanks a lot!!
Hi Juan and Chuck, I have a similar question that I would like to have the new CCNP certificate after 2020, but I don't have a valid CCNA R/S certificate, could I be able to take the 300-135 TS exam before 2020 directly without taking CCNA R/S exam and after that take another ENCORE exam to get my CCNP certificate?
@@bruce706y4 Hello Xiang, yes you will be able to do that. Also, if you take the 300-135 TS exam right now, you won't have any cert but after 24 feb 2020, you will have one specialist.
PLEASE ANSWER MY QUESTION I AM LITERALLY LOST HERE: THIS IS WRITTEN ON THE CISCO WEBSITE: These Cisco courses are recommended to help you meet these prerequisites: Implementing and Administering Cisco Solutions (CCNA) v1.0 IS IT RECOMMENDED TO HAVE CCNA CERTIFICATE TO BE CERTIFIED IN THE 350-701 SCOR COURSE !?!?!?!?!

CCNP done...MCSA done...Security+, CySA+, done, python PCAP done. I'm taking a break for 1.5 year and maybe concentrate on the CCIE R+S. I would rather concentrate on design though. I'm basically DONE with the cert game for now. Too much money flowing out of the window without a major return being recognized. BTW: Is this new track going down to 2 tests BUT RAISE the price by 40% of each exam? Even if they don't jack up the prices, Cisco is betting on people jumping into the middle of the pool and drowning a few times before passing tests. Where as before, you started in the kiddie pool and took baby strokes before floating to the middle. So, pay 300.00 x 3 times of failing a concentration exam(due to a lack of knowledge) or pay 300.00 for a core and sure up your knowledge then pay 300.00 for a concentration exam and pass both.
Wait please help me, I took the ICND1 and failed got an 801 and an 816, now after being SUPER IRRITATED and almost depressed, I'm back at it!. We are studying but after seeing this, I'm curious, should I be studying CCNA 200-125 or CCNP? I do not want to take the the ICND1 again, to me it's pointless, please help! Thanks so much. I NEED HELP!
hello sir, I passed CCNA Routing and Switching(200-125) in Oct -4-2019. Now I want to one of the CCNP certification. In this case , do I need to get CCNP ENCORE or not?.Let me know sir,Thanks.
I think it will be very hard for a fresher out of nowhere to clear those certain technologies exam as there is a huge list of prerequisite topics that are needed. That knowledge I believe will only be gained after 5-10 years of experience. Right? So freshers please go for ccna first.....
Hey, chuck, I'm about to graduate with my Bachelors in I.T. In addition, I also have completed a Security+ and have two certs from my college. These certs include Advanced Technical Certificates in Cyber Security & Cyber Forensics and Web Systems Development. I've also was awarded the most outstanding academic achievement in Information Technology at my school. I was wondering should I be learning cisco equipment to get a job in cybersecurity? I want to learn Cisco IOS just crammed with learning CySA+ at the moment. I'm really struggling to get past the bots and ATS tracking systems.
What happened to your CCIE written, remember you said: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lzFIm3zg_nI.html "The CCIE Routing and Switching Exam.....one of the most difficult IT certifications you can attempt...and I'm taking it in 3 weeks." Did you change your mind? Have you cancelled it? Please let us know :]
Here's the problem with this. It will make the hiring process more difficult for the average recruiter. The IT industry keeps promoting this myth that there's a shortage of "qualified" workers. Stratifying the CCNA/CCNP will only cause job requisites to be more unrealistic. Frankly, I think this is a cash grab by Cisco AND it differentiates the CCNA from CompTIA's offerings.
CCNA will always be required (mentally), I don’t understand how some fresh beginner can start digging into CCNP without knowing all the fundamentals of CCNA (I’m talking about the old + new CCNA). If they skip CCNA, They’re gonna be hit with terms, logic and configurations that all link back to the fundamentals in a lot of ways. I’m talking about fresh beginners trying to learn networking through Cisco. I would suggest all beginners start with both the old CCNA and New CCNA. ( old Ccna for pretty much everything route/switch and the new Ccna for only the new topics they added like wireless, fiber and what not).
