How to Get Your First 100 Sales (on Etsy) 

I opened my first Etsy shop three days ago and got two sales:) I’m super excited to get to 10, let alone 100. This video was super helpful!! Thanks :)

I was just starting to watch the video and at 0:20 I got my second sale notification on phone with the "cash" sound. The dopamine hit I got into my brain was indescribable

Hey Tim, I started in September of 2020. It took me 6 weeks to get a sale. I was on social media and advertising myself and rebuild my RU-vid channel. Finally the Etsy shop is doing okay now and I am at 435 sales now. I think the more review and the more sale you get the sale is more automated. I don’t even do ads and I get at least one-two sale a day. Some of the sales also come from my subscribers who really help me and help my Etsy shop to take off. So I love RU-vid and Etsy both because the community is very supportive.

I saw your last video on digital downloads. In a graphic designer and I figured why not build my store around that. So I'm knocking out 3 - 4 designs for digital downloads a day. Been a week now got my first sale 5minutes after listing. Today is my biggest day I'm at 20 sells for today. 40 total . Going to stick with it I need about 300 designs up by July is my goal. UPDATE.

My first few sales were friends and family too and from there “real” customers came in. I hit 31 sales today! I know that’s not much compared to you and I could probably have more if I listed more and marketed better, but I have plans to get that ball rolling for the new year!

i watched this video around a year ago, i had my product/shop ready to launch but hit a rough patch personally. it’s been a month since my launch, i decided to not share with friends/family but was able to receive 15 orders in my first month. thank you tim.

Clear, concise, helpful information. You offer a lot of practical suggestions we can put into action. One very slight correction: In your piece on packaging presentation, you showed a USPS package tied with string. The post office hates and may reject packages tied with string because it can get caught and jam up the sorting equipment. Other than that, really nice job.

I really like that you speak about expected results and results you’ll actually receive within a timeframe and how those results relate to the amount of work put in. I am in this Facebook Etsy support group and the thing that I notice the most is a need for instant gratification and sales. Most of them have only been in business for a couple of weeks when asking the question about why they have no sales yet. It doesn’t work this way, but I always encourage others to stay positive otherwise. Thank you for this video!

Very helpful. I worked like mad for six months making books for Amazon KDP. I burned out and just stopped being motivated to make them but now a year on, the algorithms have found some of my books and I make a few sales every month. It has taught me that these things do work but the valley of disappointment is very real.

When I finally quit my job and started truly putting my all into Etsy in 2020, I reached my first 50 sales within like 3 weeks-ish. It was around Black Friday, and everyone was Christmas shopping, so I sold a good amount. The next 50 sales though took me almost a year. Let me explain. So, I sell children's clothing like birthday shirts, holiday outfits, and just everyday wear too. But for birthdays and holidays the best-selling items are copyrighted cartoons, etc. I decided right after that successful Christmas season it wasn't worth the risk to keep up all those items up and either get banned from Etsy or get a lawsuit, so I literally took more than half my shop down. Less listings equals less traffic opportunities. Now I'm finally at 100 listings again and my shop has been doing much better. Still a work in progress but I'm grateful for the little victories. Also, while my Etsy was slow last summer, I opened a second business selling fabric and I keep pretty busy making it hard to add more listings but I'm definitely working on making that a priority. Thanks for the video and sorry for the super long rant just wanted everyone to know it takes time but if you put the work in, things will start to fall into place.

Thank you for your encouragement, I have high expectations for everything I do and am usually disappointed when things don't happen as fast as I expect them to. Logically I know that's the way things typically work, but it still sucks. I just opened my store this month and haven't made any sales yet, but I will journey on.
