Yep, guilty as charged. At my box now to try out a few things, redoing 23.1 on Monday morning, hopefully with some RMUs this time. Made it to the rings with 3 minutes to spare, but couldn't land one
This video, as well as your IG videos, helped me nail my first ring MU during the open today! Thanks very much and keep up the great work with the videos/coaching!! The cues were helpful, as well as the slow mo videos, hand placement on the rings, and where you should be looking.
Watched this, replayed the appropriate parts, got my first kipping ring MU on my first serious try 🙏 had to conquer my minor fear of heights first by doing a few kips and pseudo tries. thank you! My prereqs: 11 strict pull ups, 8 deep strict ring dips, forgot what other I had to mention but I definitely met the criteria. Thanks again!
Ok so...I tried a kipping RMU after watching this video, and I actually finally got my first one!! I honestly forgot about the ceiling-floor cue...what helped me was the idea to jump from the boxes into a hollow body position, into one kip, and up from there. I'm pretty sure I was close before, but I wasn't convinced I could do the kipping RMU before I got strict. As soon as I approached the kip correctly, that was it! Thanks :)
I got my first muscle up after I watched. I used a false grip from boxes. The false grip was what enabled me to get it. But I don’t see that as a efficient option during wods. Need to learn with a normal grip.
Have had strict for a while and haven’t been able to figure out kipping, tried so many different things and this video finally got me there, thanks so much!! Keeping my eyes up and the small kip with false grip was what worked for me
Ben, due to shoulder and elbow injuries I have not been able to practice after going through your course 6 years ago. These cues are getting right back there, thanks man.
Thank you for your coaching videos. They are excellent. Thanks to this video I got my first ring muscle up yesterday. Not just once but 6 times! They were surprisingly smooth for my first real attempt ever. The ceiling to floor cue worked like a charm. I'd like to learn how to string multiple reps together
Great work as always Ben! The cues which work best for me are eyes to the ceiling, pull to the lower pec/belly button & not to the mid chest like all the strict muscle up tutorials, head through the glass as opposed to head to the floor. That forward head motion really set up the catch/dip position. Prior to ring mu, approximately 19 strict Pu, 19c2b, never really do any ring dips but dips came easily. Could do 7 bar mu
This video got me ring muscle ups this mornin! After weeks of being stuck at the transition (couldn’t bring head through). I mimicked the small kip down to a tee and I popped right up! Thank you so much
Okay so I notice that when you do the "swing swing go," you don't pulled back on the rings to get elevated. My head coach was a gymnast and she always tells us to pull back on the rings to get a long hollow and allow your body to be weightless. BUT i noticed you keep the rings in front of your face, instead of behind your head in the pull back. I assume this is the missing piece that isn't allowing me to pull to my sternum and sit up on the rings. Let me know what you think!
Ben! I watched your video yesterday and I got my first kipping muscle ups on the rings . I have to admit I have a decent amount of strict ring dips and ring pull ups with very good form but the kipping muscle up was hard for my brain to compute . I tried your jumping in from the boxes technique and the “semi false grip” (I call it) and it worked! I like how you just say how to do it in a very simple way. I know different cues work for different athletes but your cues worked both in the BMU and this one too for me.I would appreciate if you could make a video on how to string multiple reps together . I did 7 singles today but wasn’t sure how to lower down to set myself in the positivism for the second kip.
Breaking the glass with my head is a transformational tip. I literally was having the exact issue you pointed out and got to that tip and boom, nailed it.
@@RapidBlindfolds I had only practiced for a couple weeks, but had been crossfitting for about 4 years at that point. The hardest part is training false grip. I still rip a lot on my wrists when I try
I got 2 but when I tried a third one again my bodied went too far forward in the dip position till I was level with the rings I freaked out, let go and fell to the floor and been to scared to commit after that. At that point I could do 10 Strict pull ups about 8- 10 C2B and 5 strict ring dips. This about a year ago
CrossFit is almost only entirely for under achievers all that kipping is just terrible to look at. I clicked on this video though just to leave this comment.
