Since your video was so helpful to me in my journey of obtaining residency, I thought I would share the timing I experienced with you and your viewers: 6/1/2023 requested appointment at the Orlando consulate to receive a permanent residency visa (appointment was given for three weeks later) 6/21 granted permanent residency visa (I’m 60 and qualified based on retirement savings) 7/3 waited in line at Playa del Carmen INM office to have an appointment scheduled (appointment was given for 4 days later) 7/7 received permanent resident card at Playa (a form cover letter requesting canje was requested, and signature on a privacy notice; proof of address and photo was not required; my visa indicated canje, but my FMM didn’t indicate canje, but they were able to correct at the Playa office w/o going back to the airport; credit card was accepted and biometrics obtained and card issued same day) 7/8 got in virtual waiting line for RFC at the Playa SAT office (#604 in the line) 7/15 reached the front of the line, and via email was given an appointment about 6 weeks away. (only given 24 hours to accept appointment time) Being 60 may have qualified me for an exception to having to get in the virtual line, but was told by a PDC SAT rep that the “Adultos Mayores” exception requires the applicant to be 65; this seems to vary by office. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding my experience.

She is leaving out something very important for people that receive monthly Social Security checks. Basically, if you receive Social Security checks on a monthly basis, you do not need to meet these minimum monthly income levels. Being on Social Security, no matter what the amount is enough to get temporary or permanent residency quite a few of my friends, live in Mexico, and qualified just on their small Social Security pensions.

I had a really bad experience in the NYC Mexico consulate a few days ago. I recommend avoiding them if possible. I tried to schedule an appt with Miami and they told me they only serve US citizens from the southern half of Florida. Then I tried to make new appointments at Philly, Boston, & NYC and I was told that they have temporarily suspended processing services of foreign temp visas due to the high influx of Mexican Nationals who need to get official documents to meet a new U.S. govt requirement. Mexican Nationals are prioritized over foreign visa applications. Would love to know if anyone else has heard this. I was told this on May 23, 2023.

Santa Ana consulate isnt issuing temp visas now, no matter what qualifications you have. Also, 401ks or other investments dont count, it must be cash. And, they don't accept photocopies, so if you're doing online banking don't bother. Printing electronic statements don't count.

My husband and I completed the first part at the Phx Mexican consulate in Feb and finished the second part two weeks ago in Queretaro with a facilitator. We already had a trip scheduled for Queretaro for months before we decided to apply in Phx. He’s 62, retired and received permanent and I’m 56, still working and received temporary. The Phx consulate was clear that you needed to be retirement age (60+) in order to receive permanent. Both aspects were easy and I wasted a lot of worry for nothing. I have less than 11 months to renew my temporary for three more years. We LOVE your channel!

Those with Panamanian permanent residency must visit the country at least every 2 years, and should stay in the country for more than 24 hours (connecting flights are not considered a visit). Otherwise, their permanent residency may be suspended.

After watching a lot of videos on Mexican Residency, I think it's not really worth the trouble, the hassle and the expense. I probably just want to be a 'perpetual tourist' at this time and just going to the condo I bought and paid off in Cabo, without the need for "residency." ... Furthermore, having a Mexican Residency stamped on my US passport might invite problems by US immigration since I was not born in the USA (but in Canada). I just do not want my US citizenship to be "questioned" by US immigration.

I seem to be missing something basic. To show financial solvency via investments, consulates say they will accept statements stamped by the bank or brokerage firm in place of originals for those of us who have gone paperless. However, my bank and brokerage firm have no idea what they are talking about; they do not offer this “stamp” service. Yet people are managing to get visas this way. What am I missing here? What do people who have gone paperless take to their interview in place of originals and statements with these mysterious stamps?

I have noticed each Mexican Consulate can have conflicting information. In one spot it says minimum of X $’s per month of income. Then in another place it says you also need to maintain that same minimum X $ amount per month as a closing balance. That doesn’t make sense! (For example I have deposits of $4,000 per month for the past 6 month but my closing balance for one or two months is below the $3,000.) so what is it - a minimum deposit of $3,000 per month or a minimum closing balance of $3,000 each month or both?) Hope I explained that correctly.

@@dreamretirementinmexico 🤔 quite irritating but most probably you are referring to USAmericans calling them „Americans“ although Mexicans and all those people living south are Americans as well. Thanks for teaching us through your videos those cities/regions of „expat communities“ to be avoided 😉 When moving from Europe to Mexico it’s been to live the Mexican life here - not the USAmerican (hardly any Spanish speaking) taking over 😜 Didn’t know before that some areas in Mexico are converted already into “cheaper versions of California/Florida” with a USD driven market pushing out the Mexican population because they can’t afford to pay rents there anymore. >>We (over)pay because we can as it’s still cheap compared to “home”.

I’m 74 and retired. My brother has property in Carambuche, Baja. My SSI is only $2000 per month, so I won’t qualify financially. I guess I have to be on a tourist visa and leave every 6 months and return. I wanted assisted living because it’s affordable there. I’m physically challenged, but it becomes hard to leave and return every six months. What would you suggest? Duane
