Hi friends! Several of you asked how to embroider your own blanket stitching if your blanket does not have it...here you go! www.fiberfluxblog.com/2012/11/how-to-embroider-blanket-stitch-edging.html

Walmart sells similar blankets with a blanket stitch and range from $2.97 on up. Tuesday Morning has some sweet deals on baby blankets. That doesn’t guarantee the stitch is there or secure but it’s a start. I think seeing you do this gives folks an idea to use in their own projects. I thought of the skip rotary blade, too for those blankets or fabric cuts waiting to be prettied up. I’ve also seen people mark on their fingers a guide to do their own. Jennifer, I appreciate your time and gift for teaching, some will find fault regardless which is a shame and a waste of positive energy. Keep the videos coming! (And anyone who doesn’t like your videos can feel free to move along!)

I have used skip rotary blade on just regular fleece and it works great and makes nice gifts. I crochet for the homeless and make long fleece scarfs and put a crochet border around it and it is so pretty. I really like working with them.

Could someone explain how you use a skip rotary? Maybe a video?
@kimeichelberger4947
@kimeichelberger4947 Год назад
@@cherylinchrist4826 use the skip rotary the same as any other. It cuts slits that are evenly spaced and you crochet into those slits.

Nice! I have purchased many fleece blankets with stitching around them from Walmart. As a beginning crocheter I can can go to town practicing on these without having to spend money on additional equipment or supplies. Who knows, I might be lousy at crochet and switch to cross stitch. Thanks so much for sharing!

Thank you so much for this tutorial. A neighbor made a similar blanket for my son when he was a baby. She used two pieces of flannel purchased from the fabric store (wrong sides together) and mercerized cotton thread. It was well loved and well used! My son will be 36 in a couple of months and I still have this blanket! 😊

Good idea. I’m going to look for a store bought blanket w/ the bottom hole stitch around. I’ve made tons of these type of receiving blankets out of yardage flannel......but you have to poke your own holes in them. Then I use pearl cotton to do the crochet edging. But Im going to give it a try your way. Thanks for a great video.

I'm currently doing this, but with fleece that hasn't been made into a blanket yet. I used a skip cutter to make holes in the edge for me to crochet the boarder on.

I work with a dog rescue and I make these for the puppies I foster. Dirt and smelly things can’t stay in a fleece blanket. I wash on high and dry hot too. I take stacks of them to adoption events because they keep dogs warm, thrown on the ground inside the wrap pen makes the ground softer and more comfortable for the puppies and it brightens the wrap pens no matter what surface we are working on. I too use a skip stitch blade. That saves me time and stress on my hands. I want to get to the place that I can send a soft, warm blanket home with every adopted dog regardless of age. Everyone needs a soft place to land.

I know this is kinda late but If you have a Walmart near you they usually have $1-$2 fleece blankets a little smaller than a twin size bedspread!

This is Sooo Pretty, but I don't know how to crochet. I was wondering if I could take soft, a little fluffy yarn & Sew that around the edges ? I saw a thin hole puncher for fabric at Joanns I think. ? Ok Thank You, They do need a little upgrade sometimes. Some people don't like the fringe, on the other fleece blankets, So trying to find a way to make it prettier & with more class
