Penelope the pineapple conure came in to the clinic with an incredibly sore head and neck. Penelope had been so distressed and uncomfortable about her neck injury that she has been continuously rubbing and scratching at the area until a life threatening situation occurred.
Penelope was obviously feeling unwell and was in danger of dying from sepsis. Fortunately, her owner was prepared to drive a long distance and get help. Due to the distance, the owner declined hospitalising Penelope and chose to take her home on medication.
