Total pain if you don't have help. My cat always grabs my hand when I try to open his mouth, and he unintentionally snags me with his claws. Cats in this video seem like angels
Haha I know right? My cat has ridiculous sharp claws. One small poke from those hurts, and she sure does swipe at you when you try to get her to look up and open up. I try and get an extra set of hands, or wrap her well in a large towel where she won't be able to scratch me
All these calm cats in the demos are not helpful! I need to give my cat a pill. She was not too resistant every day for about five days but she is too feisty and clever for me now. She is wailing like she is being tortured, and spitting the pill out even after I close her mouth and rub her throat briefly. She is wriggling and losing the precious little fur she has. I feel like I am bullying her as she looks at me with fear and incomprehension. I have had dogs all my life and had no problem with giving them pills. My previous cat was much easier too. My current cat was adopted from a park at about 8 months old, so she is really still not comfortable being handled unless she is in control. I will give it another try, but this is beyond frustrating. Ugh!
Michelle Johnson it is so easy for some cats it is so unreal, I am with you I mean I don’t want to see a video of the struggling but it is so m so terrified my kitty will choke or something.i hope you did figure it out ok.its so tough, i’m even having a hard time with a liquid for her 🥺💔
We tried this today with our cat and it did not work at all. She is half the size of the cat in the video and the second we start tilting her head back she begins thrashing wildly.
I do appreciate this video and it really works with some cats, my one kitty was super chill so it worked well but my other kitty is very anxious and her mouth is so tiny I find it so difficult and I feel so mean I can’t even do it half the time. I hope everyone watching does find a way to help their cats because it is so hard and stressful.🖤
Those out there with difficult cats: I used to think I could never pill my cat either, but now I can with ease following these instructions. It takes getting used to for both you and your cat, but just remember, if a vet can do it, you can too with practice. From my personal experience the easiest way to position my cat is to get on the ground with her and have her sit against my back, and then I crouch over her (very gently) so she can’t back away from me or jerk her head back. Then I follow the rest of the instructions this video gives. This also works for sublingual drops. My cat has a lot of health problems and I’ve had to give her injections, liquids, and pills galore. All used to intimidate me but now I can do it all without a problem. You can do it too, just keep practicing!
My vet gave me a tip for making them swallow. Blow air on their nose, or tap it. It's helpful as long as you can get the pill far enough into the mouth.
i need to give my cat a pill later today and i know the second it try to shove it in his mouth he will start flinging his head around and then attacking me afterwards since i pissed him off, i will update later
I can totally relate. My cat does the same head fling and does it so fast that I lose the pill. If you fail the first couple of times it gets even more impossible later. So frustrating!
It’s breaking my heart having my cat (Ezio) hissing and growling at me now I hope this works because my current routine is not great for either of us Plus I need to give him a pill twice a day for the foreseeable future so that’s great
This video is a lifesaver. My cat is the most difficult creature on the planet. He yowls and wriggles like anything so worming him is almost impossible!
The sad truth is, there is no easy way to give your cat a pill. My cat has no issue whatsoever with me touching her, messing around with her. Almost completely docile. The moment I try to give her a pill, she struggles like I'm a dentist trying to pull her teeth out. And that's despite my every attempt at soothing her and calming her.
I’ve tried absolutely everything to try to get his meds down him and this didn’t work either looks like I’m going to have to take him to vet so they can give him his meds and buy the super expensive medication drops 😢
My cat is too insane for this. She knows I'm about to try it and she starts yowling and screaming before I can get near opening her mouth. She despises cat carriers and cars so I can't get her to the vet either.
Funny enough I did this without watching the video and I said I suppose I'll watch a video to see if I did it right, I did it almost 100%, even had the like little throat stroke too
