This video explains how to properly give yourself an intramuscular injection in the deltoid muscle. Options Medical Weight Loss prescribes B12 injections, lipotropic fat burning injections, and this is one of two ways to inject.
What's brave....is sewing yourself up in the field with thread and needle, while bleeding all over something. That's brave. This, truthfully is nothing .
I agree... that is way too low. 4 fingers is too far and i saw her get progressively lower each time she touched her shoulder, on top of that. Her "landmark" was like an inch under her 4 fingers, and then she put the needle another inch below that. Its like she was extremely afraid of being too high up so she was over compensating. I've always been told 2 fingers
I thought it was a big no no to go past the arm pit, because you could easily hit the nerve! When I did this it was past the arm pit, and on this video it looks like it's past the arm pit.
This is definitely too low, this is an injection into the lowest part of the muscle... honestly . You don't need to be a nurse/doctor to know that isn't the deltoid injection site, and everyone's limbs are different so you can't give a vague estimate like that.... come on. A nerve runs down that arm and trust me if you hit that nerve with a needle you'll know about it.... terrible advice terrible video
Nope! Too Low.. The correct area to give the injection is 2-3 finger widths below the acromion process. (Feel for the boney process located at the top of the upper arm place 2-3 fingers. At the bottom of the two-three fingers, will be an upside-down triangle. Give the injection in the center of the triangle.
So how'd you do? Lol Dont listen to the idiot above. It's such a broad area you'll be fine. The girl administering the "weight loss" fluid went to low and didn't follow instructions. @TDR85
I believe your only supposed to go 1/2 inch in the delt because it's a small muscle, I tried to push the needle all the way in one time and it wouldn't go past halfway
Thank you for your question. Only the needle needs to be placed in the sharps unless the needle is attached to the syringe like an insulin needle. Here is a link to the FDA site that explains this and some other important info. Have a wonderful day. www.fda.gov/medical-devices/safely-using-sharps-needles-and-syringes-home-work-and-travel/sharps-disposal-containers
Only the needle is an imminent hazard. Plus the syringe would take up too much room. That's like putting paper with the plastic when recycling...separating them after use is best for all
Sometimes muscle will spasm. You didnt hit a nerve. The auxillary nerve is to the side of the delt and if you hit it it would burn and possibly paralise you.
@@sydneybristow5588 Here's how; clean site....line up the needle close to the skin...at a perpendicular line/manner...then...go straight in in 100 milliseconds...don't put the needle in slowly...and DO NOT flex any muscles when doing the insertion...
Blood in the barrel of the syringe? No, if there is blood in the barrel, this indicated that you hit a vein. You should not administer the solution in this case. Instead, take the needle out, sterilize it again with alcohol, and try injecting again. It is a good idea to pull back slightly on the plunger before administering the solution to check to be sure that there is indeed no blood flowing into the barrel.
@@Spractral if they hit the correct spot it is fine, they may have injected too quickly or pinned too quickly and caused a blood vessel to burst. It is fine but will cause PIP
@@Spractral Aspiration is not required when completing a Deltoid Intramuscular Injection. You should never wipe a contaminated needle and reuse it. Always discard and replace with a new, sterile needle.
The odds of hitting a vessel in a deep IM at a 90 degree angle is practically none. You should be more concerned with hitting a nerve or (if too high up) bone
She explained at the beginning of the video that the medication was already drawn and this video was showing the injection only. That entire process was previously completed.
@@sydneybristow5588 mam here in India, we dont choose needle . I comes with the injection , readymade. I cant choose the length what we can choose is , the 2mm or 2.5 mm volume
