Hey there! super late to this video and appreciate it a lot. What I like to do though is just create a prep station at my desk - I have a foam base that i can stab skewers into - i'll hit the glaze with a UV flashlight for a minute or so, just until it stops flowing and keep chugging along - I just need it to not move. Once I get my full 4x4 bed of skewers filled, I'll take it out and leave it on the porch so it gets blasted with sunlight. Once I do that, I repeat the process with a second bed. The time it takes to fill a 4x4 bed, the original beads are already fully cured, so i'll pull them off and put them in a baggie and leave that baggie on the porch just in case (they're never tacky at this point, but i like to be sure it's fully cured)

Thank you for the great info! Would you mind sharing your observations on how the UV coating is holding up on the beads? The beads you demonstrated on turned out beautiful! After time did you notice any yellowing, cracking or other concerns?

As I have posted before, I don’t make paper beads. I have attempted to use plain paper beads and cover very large ones with polymer clay. But because they have smaller holes I sometimes can’t use them. I have searched all over for ones with a 5mm holes. I have been using UV resin for quite awhile. It can create a great seal and adds a glass like finish! I tried 5 types and finally found one that is consistent. Some stay tacky,others can yellow.so after many failed attempts I can give you the most consistent and fairly inexpensive brand. If anyone knows where I can find plain paper beads that are flat,with a 5mm hole it would be so greatly appreciated. I am home bound quadriplegic with the use of one hand so I can’t get out to look around. I love watching the process. The skewer you’re using looks large for creating bigger holes,can you also link to that? Thank you again

Hi Barbara! I got the skewer at Walmart, it's about the size of a 4mm hole. When you say flat paper beads, I'm not sure what you mean. Like a saucer shape?

No I mean flat like cylinder,or barrel possibly.

Can you clean your brush after or do you have to throw it away? Can the UV light burn you?

I did not clean my brushes. I'm not sure if you can. The light won't burn you, but you do need to wear eye protection.

I don't exactly know. The heat is very focused, but there could be smells that would bother you. Sorry you have migraines! I have had them as well and they are NOT easy to deal with.

Great video Kelly! Wondering if an Ott light would work? They give off some UV light!
@ChellejonPaperBeadRollers

It says on the bottle that 20 minutes in the sun equals 2-4 minutes under the UV lamp. So it probably would work.

hello Kelly 🤗 , i also made pearls with this uv resin but unfortunately the brush gets hard after a while. How did you clean your brush afterwards? Is there a solvent for uv resin? Unfortunately, hot water is not enough. Otherwise the result is super nice! Thanks Indra 🙏🥰

If you wrap your brush between uses so it isn't exposed to light, the resin will not harden, and you can use the brush for quite a long time.

@@ChellejonPaperBeadRollers In defense of UV resin, I do have one bead that hasn't cracked. It's a Tyvek bead. I'm interested to see how it holds up for you. I may have just did something wrong.
